What's the evidence that Walker — that red-meat-talking "disgrace" — is actually just boring? Embarrassingly, TNR's Bruce Beutler's evidence is Walker's Twitter feed, which is wonderful in a midwestern way Beutler [acts as if he] can't understand:
Up early 4 a haircut. Got some Badger wear 4 my parents @ Kohl's.
— Governor Walker (@GovWalker) January 1, 2011
Beutler puts up 37 tweets of that sort and [acts as if he] believes his readers will buy the "boring" meme.
I've already said I love Scott Walker's Twitter feed — precisely because of the I-got-a-haircut stuff. It reminds me of the great old comic strip "Jim's Journal," written drawn by Scott Dikkers here at the University of Wisconsin back in the 1980s. Dikkers went on to co-found The Onion. Think about that, Beutler. Beutler?
(Much more "Jim's Journal" here.)

The second cartoon strip I've seen this morning.
Remember, they truly believed Obama was cool. I doubt they have solid taste.
I also loved Jim's Journal. Even bought a couple books, I think.
Boring? Was Hitler boring? From a Facebook timeline:
Scott Walker announced and this was written and well worth sharing.
I consider Walker the most dangerous. He is the dream date for "Conservative Christians"...young, wealthy, charismatic...and the most fascist of all the GOP candidates wanting to do everything the Nazis epitomized.
Tell you who to marry.
Tell you who to have sex with.
Tell you what God to pray to.
Tell you who your enemy is.
Tell you what you can or cannot do with your body.
Tell you your place if you're Black, Hispanic, or a Woman.
Tell you that corporations are more people than you are with more rights.
Tell you that you're not worth a living wage.
Tell you that your health doesn't matter and to "let them die."
Tell you that your air, water, and food are second to corporate profits and not important.
Remember, the Nazis took 30% of the German Congress (Reichstag) and the proceeded to disrupt the government, cause dissent, collapse the economy, and blamed the Jews, the poor, the Communists, and lauded the white Christians (master race).
And then they legally got Hitler put into office.
History CAN repeat itself.
Boring is the flip-side of all-Trump-all-the-time.
This is what they say when they really want us to pay no attention.
At least when they can't just say nothing.
The NYT airbrushes out Ted Cruz and makes a lie out of one of the last sections to actually publish facts.
If CNN, Rolling Stone and Politico felt they couldn't just ignore Walker's official announcement, at least they could tell people to go read a different article.
I'll take boring and competent over exciting and hilariously inept.
And maybe "boring" is a good thing in the general election--the Democrats absolutely need to make the GOP nominee look scary and frightening. Boring isn't very scary.
Curious George, cut the tendentious bullshit, will you?
That is some seriously funny shit, Curious George. Great satire!
You were posting it as satire, right?

That was serious post on m Facebook feed. And it had a lot of likes. Here are the first three comments:
Wow!!
1 hr
This IS how most are seeing things happen, in WI.. Those that hve not (yet) are NOT paying attention!!
30 mins
Okay ...have to share!
And jelink, what's the problem?
I like men who are boring as long as they are competent just as I like women who wear makeup as long as they look good wearing it. I like wearing shorts too.
Don't worry. He's only boring while they're trying to talk GOP primary voters away from him.
If he's the nominee, he'll instantly be the incarnation of every evil and scary caricature of conservatives.

Proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.
Walker is a combination of white-hot Tea Party extremism and a boring, drab tub of tapioca pudding.
After "high drama Obama" I think Walker would be a major improvement. The fact that Curious and garage hate him are points in his favor, of course.

You new around here?
Garage, you say that like it's a bad thing.
I love the "America's Top Union Leader Destroys Scott Walker With Just Six Words" thing, BTW. It spontaneously popped up all over the web yesterday, no doubt an observation by smart Journolists. Whoops, I meant journalists.
What does it mean to destroy somebody in just six words? Near as I can tell it involves standing there shaking your fist at them and howling ad hominems. There you go... you're destroyed.
Worth noting, Trumka is the guy Scott Walker Actually Destroyed in Just One Bill and Two Elections.

The interesting thing about this is how awesome it works. It's an emotional appeal that a lot of people believe. Not necessarily about Scott Walker specifically, but about Republicans in general. Even if Republicans choose the media and establishment candidate, like Jeb Bush, they will use this same rhetoric. Doesn't matter if it's Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Scott Walker, or Jeb Bush.
They'll use this stuff because being Mitt Romney doesn't drive people to the polls. Being the nice guy Scott Walker doesn't drive people to the polls. What energizes people and gets them out to the polls is racism, sexism, fear, anxiety, anything that makes an emotional appeal.
Which is why Trumps rhetoric resonates. It's an emotional appeal.
The Democrats are great at it because they can say Republicans are racist and homophobic and whatever else they like and the media nods their heads collectively like wise sages on the mountain when Democrats do it. Reinforcing the meme in the minds of the American public.
But if a Republican does it? Look out. You're fear mongering!!!!
This is why Walker is such a threat to the progressives. Because he doesn't fit their stereotypes. People will hear all this typical bullshit that the libs throw at every Republican candidate and then look at boring, bland, normal, suburban dad Scott Walker, and be like, "WTF are those idiots talking about?"
Proof of this hypothesis about the failure of Dem demonization as applied to Walker? Three wins in four years in Wisconsin.
The smarter Dems know this. Walker is like Reagan in this very important respect. Non-political people won't buy the bullshit about him. The same crap was tried to Reagan and all normal people saw was that nice, funny old man who they remembered from the black-and-white movies, not a devil in disguise.
Walker can't be demonized. The old playbook isn't going to work. Dems best pray that Jeb! beats Walker, because they sure won't be able to.
Walker may not be perfect, but he's still my top choice. If he can drive people like CG crazy, so much the better. Of course, there's not the slightest chance in hell that CG believes what he's writing about Walker, but that makes the irony all the more delicious.
It's good that Dems don't resort to fear-mongering, unlike those nasty Repubs.
This is why Romney is such a threat to the progressives. Because he doesn't fit their stereotypes. People will hear all this typical bullshit that the libs throw at every Republican candidate and then look at boring, bland, normal, Mitt Romney, and be like, "WTF are those idiots talking about?"

See? Even garage says he's less boring than the Dem candidates.

It was a Rolling Stone guy. You know, the magazine that completely lied about a gang rape and didn't fire ANYBODY after it came out how badly they fucked up the story?
Anybody who actually cites them should be bitch slapped for doing so.

LOL I was quoting a lefty on my facebook page. And trust me, these psychotics believe this stuff. They are delusional.
I love the "America's Top Union Leader Destroys Scott Walker With Just Six Words" thing"
I wonder if the top union leader will still be trash talking when President Walker and the Republican Congress pass a national right to work act. Better still when they do that and repeal the Wagner Act.
I thought he came across as arrogant and smug. When he nodded in approval at his own statements, it reminded me of some famous Mussolini newsreel footage shot in the 1930's. Not sure he is my pick either.
Beutler puts up 37 tweets of that sort and [acts as if he] believes his readers will buy the "boring" meme.
I buy it after one.

But you don't.
Besides. I never met a parrot that could type.
You have that going for you.
Cracker?
Richard Trumka destroyed Walker? The guys has put tens of millions to defeat Walker. All he got in return was an entrenched conservative Governor in a purple state, a national example of busting the Union/Democratic Party cabal, and a leading candidate for President.
But Walker is still begging for money claiming BIG GOVERNMENT UNION BOSSES ARE OUT TO GET HIM.
Either Walker is clueless, or lying. As always, it can be both!
There's always the hope that once elected he will have some willing interns. But I'm easily pleased. Knowing mom jeans is consistently out on the green and blowing the WH entertainment budget is damn exciting. Good to see CG here is running with the Hitler meme...always persuasive..or something. Can't wait for Titus to weigh in.
@Curious, I've been commenting for years. But I did not much respect your post at 7:22. If you meant it satirically, then I stand corrected.
That was an actual post by an actual lefty. And it got lots of likes, and lots of shares. So some don't think he's boring. They have gone the route of psychotic hyperbole. I'm a Walker supporter, voted fro him every time ha has run for both Milwaukee County Executive a well as Governor. How do you not know that?
I notice they didn't mention Hillary's speech where she mentioned that women make 78 cents to the dollar, on average, that a man makes.
That saved them from having to mention that she paid her own female staffers 72 cents on the dollar.
...or that her charitable foundation paid them about 63 cents on the dollar.
Good thing they missed that.
But Walker is still begging for money claiming BIG GOVERNMENT UNION BOSSES ARE OUT TO GET HIM.
Hillary is begging for money, peddling a mythical wage gap that, if you use her own methodology, has her paying her women LESS than the average gap.
damikesc is simply unable to make any argument that doesn't involve "but what about Hillary??? what about Obama???? what about __________????"
Garage, she's the Democratic front-runner. She's irrelevant to a discussion of the race for the WH?
Try your squirrel shit elsewhere.
Must have been take your grandkids to work day at Rolling Stone.

Curious, I got what you were laying down. If there was blockquote formatting in Blogger (which is still trapped in the 20th century) there would not have been any confusion.
Boring is good for reactionaries. It keeps them from believing new ideas or problems should actually be addressed.
I like how he has that narcoleptic look of somnolence in his droopy eye.
A more fitting candidate for the zombie-revolution!
R&B's: "A more fitting candidate for the zombie-revolution!"

Perfect.
Speed up R&B. It would be a shame if you fell too far behind your herd.

Mighty case of projection ya got for yourself there.
Dikkers did not found the Onion. He bought it from Tim Keck (sic?) and another guy 2 or 3 years after if first began publishing. They were friends of my brother's - I used Tim's drivers license as a fake ID. The Onions first edition featured a short story written by my brother IIRC. The original Onion backed a faux political party in student elections featuring a friend of mine and the winner of their tattoo contest. Right before the student elections their edition came out exposing their candidates as space aliens. They came in third and garnered over 1000 votes as I recall. Good times.
