Counsell should be a good manager, like Joe Girardi.
The Brewers don't have the talent of some other teams but they are underperforming. A lot of this is on the players, but it's the coaching staff's job to develop the players and put them in the best position to succeed. Roeniecke would be a good manager of a team with veteran leadership. Braun is a great hitter but a shitty teammate, like Bonds was. People talk about the 5 tool position player, but the sixth tool is baseball smarts, which many players don't have, and the seventh tool is being a good teammate, which many players don't have.
So the manager had to go and deserves some of the fault. Braun has to go and the GM has to, too.

I'm not surprised he was fired.
We'll see what the new guy can do.
He avoided the long, cruel 100+ loss season. Brewers are terrible.
We put together some good seasons. I enjoyed my time here.
You weren't being paid to put together some good seasons. And you sure as hell weren't being paid to enjoy your time there.

He also wasn't paid to select the players that made up the roster. Doug Melvin failed him, and Brewer fans, miserably.
To think this team could stand pat and be competitive after last years historic collapse was just idiotic.
The GM should go as well.
I don 't whether this is the same crew that fired this guy that fired Ned Yost, but thank you.
Signed Kansas City.
One ex-Marlin replaces another.
Miami: the cradle of managers.

The White Sox need to change managers as well.

Hardly. He was a great hitter when he was juicing, he's just average now. And always hurt.
Braun is not an average hitter. Neither was A-Rod or Bonds, two other clubhouse cancers. I agree about the injuries but Braun has an MLB elite swing.
Cool that the Brewers' new manager can also handle any legal issues that may arise for the players.
