I don't think that Ginsberg's oeuvre stands up well at all. What does stand out was his involvement with the Beats as a person--as a sort of glue holding things together.

The thing I hated about mandatory English Comp II in college, which seemed pretty heavily overloaded with poetry, was that the only professors teaching that block of time, were male homosexuals.
I never understood why there wasn't ever any real men (you know, cavemen) who could step up to the plate.
Never understood the whole Hoopla around Ginsberg. He wrote 1/2 of a good poem. Otherwise, he was just your standard left-wing gay, drug user. And as someone wrote, he was a pedophile - as was William Burroughs. There was a reason many of the "Beats" loved Tangiers in the 50s and 60s -and it wasn't just drugs.
