Stalin World.

Here's a documentary about the Lithuanian theme park Grutas Park — AKA "Stalin World" — which we were talking about this morning in connection with the ISIS destruction of ancient sculptures. Here we see Soviet era sculptures preserved in a tourist-attraction garden setting that many Lithuanians find quite offensive.

Thanks to Irene for pointing me there. And no thanks to the NYT for picturing 2 of the Grutas Park sculptures in a slide show about how aging Americans can absorb Euro-culture through the wonders of Airbnb.

Sort of like Stone Henge. Huge paleolithic stones in the image of a man made of steel. Someday they will be found again by archeologists and all will wonder why.

Nah, garage is an Earl Butz leftist. Cold beer, soft recliners, and 90 cable channels.

I am going to make the argument that Stalin has won, and will remain, the Winner.

Those who know of the evils under his name do not even crease the pages of the University books that tell his History.

Those who admire his ways still clutch upon the Global Brass Ring.

The future is His.

Stalin's Russia will be admired by their People while America disowns its Forefathers.

See where the dust will settle.

Can someone tell me that this World does not inevitably return to the Stalins, the Hitlers and the Maos?

Tick tock tick.

In the end, the American Experiment will not be that of spreading Democracy, it will be of facilitating the internet dissemination of Porn. Everything else is Lost.

Only under the anonymity of the internet can one mention that he was the guy who stopped Hitler- almost by himself.

Putin is the new Stalin. We should think about killing him like Stalin killed Trotsky.

That smell, that once in a blue moon smell of baked goods once they become available.....and the smell of sweat and musk of the folks living in the peoples paradise in the queue, praying (silently of course 'cuz religion is baaaaaaaad) to get their li'l quota chunk.

Sounds like.....left wing...victory.

Yes, but with just a little more tweaking, this communism thing will work out fine. I mean, look at China and Cambodia and Venezuela and Cuba...shining cities on the hill, every one. Paradise is just around the corner, I can feel it!

If it weren't for the NYT article you'd never have heard of Stalinland. Also, I'd like to thank my spatula for never saying anything.

Cry me a river.

Considering that Stalin and Hitler inaugurated WWII as allies, dismembering Poland between them, the Great Patriotic War was nothing more than a falling our amongst thieves.

...and Putin is carrying on Stalin's legacy of tormenting the Ukraine. Over 1932-1933, according to The Harvest of Sorrow, perhaps as many dead from an engineered famine as dead on both sides in WWI.

And two giddy bitches with hashtags is all the help Obama has to offer.

For a really bizarre take on stalin look up stalin apologist Grover Furr.

A professor at Monclair state College in NJ, he is a major Stalin apologist.

All those charges of gulags? Lies by Stalins enemies. Ukraine? Lies. Poland? Never happened. And so on. I was in aStalinist yahoo group he used to run until he kicked me out for saying that perhaps Stalin was not a good guy.

The man is batshit crazy AND a university professor. Check his university website if you don't believe me.
