Having wasted my time reading that, it does raise a question--why is it not offensive to mock the broken English of Russians, but if you were to do the same with Asians, Hispanics or blacks it would be considered off limits? The answer can't be that obvious, can it?

In other words, are broken speech patterns hilarious among white foreigners because we have higher expectations of them, but not funny at all when it is nonwhites because of course they can't be expected to speak with clear English? Soft bigotry of low expectations, perhaps?

The seige of Leningrad in WWII formed the heart and soul of Putin. It is a little known story of betrayal to death of Putin's family and all who who served Stalin and never surrendered. Preservation of Russia'a land from its neighbors is all he thinks about.

If he runs against Agent Hilary he'll be taking on Putin at the same time.

"Documents released from the Soviet Union" show "the Soviet Union started treating" President Ronald Reagan more seriously after Reagan fired the air traffic controllers.

Next trick from the MSM: A claim that Scott Walker said he could see Russia from his front porch in Madison...

Maybe SNL can use Tina Fey in a Scott Walker costume.

If you heard Boris Badenov talking to Natasha inside your head while reading this, you're a Russophobe and should get therapy. I can't believe they write this kind of crap and still expect to be taken seriously.

I also can't believe Althouse suckered me in to reading Wonkette. It is to honest conservatives like me what a publication named Thunderbolt was to honest black folks in the 60's.
I hope they meet a similar end.

A 'Scott Walker is like Putin' tag or 'the unexpected virtue of ignorance'.

I'll bet there really was a scene when Putin and Medvedev had a good laugh together at the expense of one who is now a candidate for President.
But it wasn't Scott Walker. It was Hillary Clinton with her big red button that said "Overcharge" instead of reset.
"Mrs Clinton has given to us wrong button. Must be button for to make speaking engagements with, how you say, Fat Cats on the Wall Street"
Da! But it was also wrong. It was supposed to say, "Grant Access".

I've never been to Wonkette before. What's with the Soviet/Communist imagery? Are they trying to be funny? Do they think that its ironic? Satire? I am seriously confused.

Also, I couldn't get through the first paragraph. That thing isn't just not funny, it is the antithesis of funny. That thing is to funny as Margaret Cho is to comedians.

Walker thinks crushing labor frightens Putin. He said so. That's pretty funny.

I thought it was hilarious, but then I come from Lithuanian stock and read it all in my grandfather's voice.

Some of it was kind of stupid, but a few lines just zinged.

With all that is going on in my life, I look for any chance to laugh and if we can't laugh at ourselves, we're lost. I think the voters would appreciate a sense of humor in a candidate.

Not snark like the current White House resident, but someone that can be self-deprecating, can belly laugh, can watch the Three Stooges and not look down their nose.

Maybe I'm warped, but one of the things I loved most about Reagan and GW was their sense of humor.

Once you learn Cyrillic phonics, then you come to realize that many Russian words are the same as the English words.

Russian: PECTOPAH
English: Restaurant

Go ahead, try it out....
The Russian P has an R sound. The C is always an S sound. The H is an N sound.

There are several other examples that I discovered during 10 days in Russia.

It makes Hillary's reset button look like a huge blunder.

Hooked on phonics!!

Another democratic party house organ telegraphing their real fear of who will be the republican candidate.
I suspect that Putin would actually have a greater respect and fear of Walker than he currently has for Obama and any likely democrat candidate.

Ha ha. No satire in gulag, comrades.

Putin would be relieved to see a capitalist in the White House again. Nobody knows how evil the Marxists can be as a man who grew up among them.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Not Walker's finest moment on that one. He has no need to defend a non-existent foreign policy record. He should just point to Obama's/HRC's existing record. Anything else would be better.

Can you believe the chutpzah of fans of this administration laughing at somebody ELSE on not being intimidating to Putin? I guess, much like the administration "created or saved" jobs with its financial prowess, so it should be credited for the fact that Putin hasn't yet invaded Poland, maybe? Is that the argument?

People talked about Steve Jobs's Reality Distortion Field, but the current MSM really take that to new levels with Obama.

Whether there's any evidence that the Soviets changed their approach to Reagan after the ATC strikebreaking in 1981, the fact is that the Kremlin kept a close eye on our leadership through the Cold War and took careful notice of any aspects of our presidents in sizing them up. We of course did the same with their leaders--it makes sense to get a profile of them to know how best to handle them.

Surely Reagan's history for better or worse was carefully considered by the Kremlin, so it isn't a big leap to imagine that one of the first significant acts of his presidency would have an effect on how the Soviets dealt with him afterwards.

I think that Walker should next invade Grenada. If that doesn't cause Russia and America to take him seriously, I don't know what will. I am sure that the Wisonsin National Guard is up to the task, and at this point they'd probably all do it for free just to get some warm weather. Heck, if they want a middle aged, somewhat out of shape former combat engineer, I'll go with them just for a chance to get a tan.

Maybe Walker could start his speech saying "After waking up to another day of the Great Freeze of 2015, I was convinced that I could see the frozen Steppes of Russia from Madison".

Crushing you say? What, did Walker get bitchtits mahal to sit on labor?

Jaq म्हणाले...

Sorry Lem, Obama is like Putin. God forbid anybody is the first to stop clapping for Obama. Who puts artists in prison for creating art? Putin: Pussy Riot, Obama, filmmakers who "insult the prophet of Islam."

It's always nice when garage takes the time to link to the very text that disproves his assertion.

It's odd isn't it? garage is seemingly compelled to blow up his own argument.

Time and time again.

If Walker starts talking about corporations garage is going to be completely S.O.L.

NotWhoIUsedtoBe म्हणाले...

OK... but the President won't take on unions OR Russia.

What's the point, again?
