Recall Scott Walker? Isn't that the sort of thing you normally do at a wake or a roast?
Were they singing "Look for the Right to Work label?"
They want to lose another recall campaign?
Pass the popcorn!
Hell, I might actually be willing to stand out in the cold collecting signatures for them, just to watch them go down in flames, AGAIN!
You can bet Putin is watching very closely to these developments.
Hey Garage, you better get over there quick, before they start displaying their Bush==Hitler, um, I mean Walker==Hitler signs again.
I am not good at economics, so I can't explain it, but I have this feeling that the higher wages of unionized labor somehow comes out of the non-unionized workers hide.
WHOA!
Time travel has been perfected??
Hey Garage, you better get over there quick, before they start displaying their Bush==Hitler, um, I mean Walker==Hitler signs again.
Oh were you injured by that, delicate flower? Need a hug?
That's funny.
I'm sure the hard working people who pay union dues they can barely afford are thrilled to see the money going to wastes like this.
"Johnny One-Note" doesn't even begin to describe these guys, does it?
While it's hard not to respect the unions for guys who work in coal mines or steel mills, it's harder to work up sympathy for the folks down at the DMV. I think the public sector union folks see themselves as having the hard trades mystique, but that's an image not shared by the public at large.
University union ?
It may be interesting to know who these people are and why they are there.
None of this is spontaneous.

You know, those clowns can REMAIN in a union if they want. They just can't force others to join.
Take away abortion and what choices do Progressives support others having?
I love the tears of screaming and crying Liberal protestors.....they taste like....VICTORY...!
You know, those clowns can REMAIN in a union if they want. They just can't force others to join.
Thank GOD for big government to force businesses to make the right decisions. Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders.
Why does that lady in the center look familiar? Does she actually go to a job where she gets screwed over by the man day and night, or is her job to be at these rallies?
"Thank GOD for big government to force businesses to make the right decisions. Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders."
And the unions can buy off Liberal Democrat politicians with campaign "contributions" regardless if the union "member" who is forced to pay union dues agrees with the politics of the union scumbag officials...
Being a wonderful liberal means never having to think for yourself.
Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders.
Sure, you know what's best for them. I bet if the unions stopped spending their dues money on causes they didn't agree with, your POV would have more sympathy. But that would ruin the whole concept of workforces being money farms for the Democrats, right?
Is it just me or is the sight of aged Hippies singing silly songs (rather than vigorously debating the issue on the merits) kinda sad and pathetic?
Reasonable minds can differ on WHETHER Wisconsin should become a "Right to Work" state. Stop the silly songs and address the issue!
Suddenly garage cares about freeloaders.
I'm sure here is totally opposed to the Presidents increase in food stamps, or his cell phone give away, or medicare or Medicaid, etc.
And the unions can buy off Liberal Democrat politicians with campaign "contributions" regardless if the union "member" who is forced to pay union dues agrees with the politics of the union scumbag officials...
Work somewhere else. I thought you were the Bootstrapping Party? If you don't like who Koch Industries funds, work somewhere else.
These people are bloody hilarious.
They have to be mobys planted by Walker, right? Nobody can be that stupid. Dude.
These morons are setting him up for yet another triumph when the right-to-work bill sails to his desk. He'll be touting it in presidential campaign speeches in short order thereafter. I put the over-under on 10 hours.
Do they honestly not notice how they help him by doing this kind of childish crap?
That's supposed to be a rally? Looks like a bunch of people waiting for the Staten Island bus, displaying a little attitude while they do so.
If that's the best the unions can do, the fight was over before it began.

Everyone of us cares.
We all hate poverty, war, and injustice,

All it took was a stroke of a pen. Thank GOD for big government. What would we do without it?
Walker is a long shot for the GOP nomination, never mind wresting the presidency from the iron grasp of The Inevitability of Hillary. But the extreme butt-hurt of garage and other lefties suggests that, in their minds, he's on an unstoppable progress to the Oval Office.

Isn't the fact that the unions get to negotiate for all the workers something demanded by the unions? I bet the vast majority of right-to-work people would quite happily relieve the unions of that burden.
There seems to be some confusion, so let's explain this now--"right to work" legislation simply means that businesses cannot agree to labor agreements that prohibit the hiring of nonunion labor. In other words, they cannot discriminate against an employee because of that employee's lack of association in an organization.
How on earth can anyone who calls themselves "liberal" object to that? If you object to just about every other type of workplace discrimination, why is this one okay? Simply because unions are always good and beneficial for employees, even if the employee decides s/he doesn't think so? How paternalistic do you have to be to assert that the union is what's best for the employee so the employee should be forced to join if they want the job?
Please explain that without sounding like a corporatist.
But the extreme butt-hurt of garage and other lefties
I'm not union. Never have been. I am laughing at the idiot unions that supported Walker after their private union withers away. You know who is not touched by this new union law? Walker's palace guards, police unions. LOL.
"Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders."
That assumes that the union was responsible for the benefits and that might not be so. Competition for workers is another consideration.
As to public sectors workers, aren't they largely a bunch of freeloaders? Freeloading on the taxpayer's money.
I think Scott Walker has a great chance of getting the Republican nomination, at least as good as any of the other candidates.
Work somewhere else. - garage
See. garage owns this business now! Work somewhere else!
And he probably wonders why they call it "right to work" legislation.

I wonder if...............
Nah. Nevermind.
carry on.
The biggest freeloaders are the non productive workers the union protects. Like the rubber rooms in NY full of teachers even NYC won't let near a classroom.
That's what freeloading looks like garage.
As long as you remember...
Brian Williams lying = Man Bites Dog
Bill O'Reilly lying = Dog Bites Man
You possess the secret decoder ring that unlocks the mystery of the Althousian editorial process.
Oh were you injured by that, delicate flower? Need a hug?
I'm not the one who complains each time Althouse posts pictures of protesters with signs equating Walker with Hitler.
Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits.
Incorrect. The union members would have the union to negotiate on their behalf. But each non-union member would have to negotiate their own benefits with their employer.
I once worked for a company that didn't give you any benefits that you didn't negotiate for during the hiring or review process. Those that asked for vacation time, got vacation time. Same for health insurance and raises. They ended up with a few pissed-off employees, but there is no law forcing employers to offer the same benefits or raises to all of their employees.
Those that want to outsource those negotiations to someone else would be free to join the union. Those that would rather negotiate for themselves could do so by not joining the union.
Union members pay money in order to get benefits non-union gets for free? How stupid can they be?
Probably pay for the free samples at Costco.
"Brian Williams lying = Man Bites Dog
Bill O'Reilly lying = Dog Bites Man"
Brian Williams is supposed to report the news whereas Bill O'reilly provides commentary.
I'm not the one who complains each time Althouse posts pictures of protesters with signs equating Walker with Hitler.
I'm not the one either. Like I didn't complain about Obama signs with Hitler mustaches. I think it's funny.
Bitchtits is going to love living in a Right to Work State.
Perhaps President Walker can use an executive order to enforce Right to Work nationwide.
Hey fat boy, TOTAL RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need a John Doe investigation and a Jane Doe one too.
Walker has to be using Koch money to hire these demonstrators to get him nominated.
They are a public parades with live entertainment all being done to benefit Scott Walker.

Like I said, it doesn't effect me. I have a job. I can move to any state I want.
You don't have a job. You pretend to be a lawyer on the internet. That's one big difference between me and you.
Einstein reportedly said that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. After viewing the photos and videos of the Madison protests, it does seem they have a loose grip on sanity.
I'm sure all states are clamoring for overweight losers who barely graduated high school.
Why, every single day I bet that all 57 states are sending delegations to your doorstep, begging your to bring your special blend of anti-Semitism, impotent rage, and ticking time bomb of weight related healthcare costs to their state.
It is just shocking to me that such an in demand commodity like yourself would have their wife flee from your failed marriage.
Must have been Scott Walker's doing.
Right to work for what each individual considers to be fair and reasonable. As for the public workers, fair and reasonable is correlated with the average compensation in the private sector.
The taxpayers do not serve public employees. Public employees do work for the taxpayers.
Thank GOD for big government to force businesses to make the right decisions. Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders.
Big government is actually unforcing (if that's a word) big business from being forced to accept unions in the first place.
I've heard the "non-union members freeloading" argument a hundred times, and it's still nonsense. Non-union employees are there at the disposal of the employer; they agreed to the wages the employer offered.
So no one is freeloading.
"Bill O'Reilly lying = Dog Bites Man"
Unfortunately for the liars, Bill showed videotape from CBS last night vindicating him. David Cone is the liar.
"The taxpayers do not serve public employees. Public employees do work for the taxpayers."
As when the IRS targeted conservative political groups. Public employees are paid with taxpayer money, overpaid with taxpayer money.
What does Garage think of the $147,000/year dockworkers in San Diego?
Brian Williams = Hard News Anchor.
Bill O'Reilly = paid opinion blowhard.
Now if you catch Bret Baer, Williams' equivalent on Fox, lying, you let me know. I will be outraged right along with you and call for his resignation.
Thank GOD for big government to force businesses to make the right decisions
Not becoming right to work is the government forcing business to make decisions for their workers.
Right to work makes it the workers' decision.
Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits.
Hardly. Hell, my employer gives me a better deal than our union employees.
When I was working in Australia a couple of decades ago, I remember reading that the dockworkers had something like a 2.5% tax on the economy. One can't break their strike because no other port in the world will then accept your exports. This is called "fairness."
Trade unions are like lawyers. They are expensive and hopefully are never needed. But when an employer is abusive because he enjoys abusing people, then a labor union needs to be hired.
"But when an employer is abusive because he enjoys abusing people."
Well, government is full of people like that. A private company like that is likely to go out of business. But if you get all of your insights into human nature from stories, stories which often require villains to be compelling, I guess you would have the sense that the world is full of people like that.
I am not against unions. I just think govt unions create an entity that works to destroy democracy. For instance, the the UK, the single-payer system is the largest employer in the country, and you can bet when they show up to bargain, it isn't the patient's interest that is foremost, any more than the teachers represent the students. The govt represents the patients, and when the power relationship gets reversed, well, you can see what happens if you follow the news from the UK.
"Thank GOD for big government to force businesses to make the right decisions. Beauty is workers who don't join the union get the same benefits. Freeloaders."
I pay taxes. Many don't. Not only do they get the SAME benefits, but actually BETTER benefits than me. Freeloaders.
Hey hi hey ho, public sector unions got to go.
Or maybe it's Yippie Ki Yay!
Whatever, it sure puts a bounce in my step to see all the lefty heads (Milbank, Fournier, et al) spinning around. They just can't lay a glove on Walker and they don't even realize it yet. They're patting themselves on the back for delivering a knockout blow and he's standing in the corner drinking his Gatorade and making plans to see a movie Saturday night.

Right to work means people can't be forced to join a union as a condition of employment. It doesn't mean they can't join a union if they choose. It also means they can quit their union membership if they don't like it. If the unions are so great, why did so many Wisconsin public employees stop paying their dues when given the opportunity?
Perhaps the unions need to do a better job for their members (and not just their leadership) if they want to survive. It's a radical idea, I know, but it just might work.
Nothing says "kicking the working class in the nuts" like a policy of importing as many unskilled laborers as you can get your hands on; nothing says "shoveling all the money to a few at the top" than having government policy - from healthcare to unions - that mandates taxpayers make use of (and pay for) - the services of government approved individuals.
But again, what do I know - I supported the same guys as Matthew Sablan.

You mean he didn't really pitch a perfect game for the Yankees?
Also, who are these employees that "abuse people because they like abusing people". That sounds like a physical crime that we would want to put a stop to, unions or no. Please list these felons so that we can all unite to put a stop to these outlaws in our society.
When companies conspire to fix the price of what they produce it's called "price-fixing," and it's unlawful.
But when unions conspire to fix the price of labor ...
I find it interesting that the unions feel that they can't survive without membership being forced by law and can't operate without receiving funds dragooned out of those wishing to participate in the work force.
Sounds like that old concept of "... involuntary servitude." Didn't we fight a war over that some years ago?

The were bus drivers making that much in Madison a few years ago. They were the ones scamming the OT rules. Not the ones scamming workman's comp.
We have cops making over 200k because they sit in their cars for all road work.
In Wisconsin we have orange flag peeps-I was one of them at my daddy's construction company. He took me off that job after he saw me spinning the flag throwing it multiple roatations and catching it with my legs.

They lost the battle, in Wisconsin and most of the USA, when they failed to prevent Mr. Walker's reelection and the control of the Governorships and legislatures by the GOP.
Failing under democracy, it appears that they again are resorting to mob action.
Don't worry unions know how to survive in a Right To Work State. People will still be threatened and intimidated into joining unions. Businesses will still agree to union contracts because they don't want their windows smashed and their tires slashed. Grocers don't want their produce delivered after it has spoiled, a favorite union trucker trick. Seems they have a lot of mechanical problems, unavoidable, really. Maybe they should buy insurance against that sort of thing, like having a union.

Yes, just like those freeloaders who live around people who don't break the law. Move to Detroit, garage. There you will not be a freeloader.

Not to mention the guy’s administration under which income inequality has rocketed because of the bazillions he gives to his Wall St. friends. And who, in building the economy from the sides outward, has driven mlliions on to foodstamps. And under whom immigrants have gotten 100 percent of the jobs that have been created.

Unions can form their own businesses. As for the government agencies, get your effing hands out of my wallet and get an honest job elsewhere. Don't do me a favor with my tax dollars. By the way, let get rid of the Davis-Bacon Act, tired of having to grossly overpay for slow and shitting built public works construction. Piss off, parasite.

Too bad the republicans don't have any stones. Repeal the Wagner Act is the way to go. Let the union organizers organize, people have a right to freely assemble and employers would have a right to decide with whom they want to assemble with. Problem solved. Nothing stopping unions from forming and running businesses.
