Oh hi

Happy New Year, everyone. Celebrate with me the fact that I got my first "insta-lance" today (actually, last night at 11 pm)!

(Even makes up for the fact that I'm working late to finish something up before a client call, and the woman who's supposed to be the client lead is thoroughly incompetent.)

Following up on my gripe about my new washing machine the other day:

I thought I had found a reasonably priced GE machine that rinsed warm and had the oldfashioned controls with no locking lid, but fortunately kept reading the customer reviews, and on the 2nd or 3d page found a comment that "by the way, the published specifications page is wrong and needs to be changed; this machine only rinses with cold water."

I then googled "washing machine with warm rinse" and found that it seems I was right to start with. Top loading machines are all cold rinse only these days. Several commenters said the specifications for their (higher priced) machines were deceptive, in that they said "warm rinse," but in fact only gave a warm spray in the spin cycle while the actual rinse cycles were all cold.

There was considerable unhappiness from people worried about sensitivity to build-up of detergents and other chemicals in their wash, and not believing much that the EPA says it is all in their heads.

Not to minimize your quest, but what's the importance of a warm-water rinse?

Hagar म्हणाले...

Whatever it is, residual dirt or soap, fabric softener, etc., dissolves and get rinsed away easier in warm water than in cold.

For somethings, such as rubberized backings for bath rugs, etc, there also seems to be a problem with temperature shock going from warm or hot to cold, though personally, I use cold/cold and gentle cycles for such things. (I also have a very flat sewr service, which I do not want to get clogged with rubber flakes.)

How do you get the lid up, and where's the roll of TP??

I love me some 'Sconsin cheese curds! I have a good friend in Tomahawk who comes down this way on occasion. She always brings me squeakin' fresh curds from the source. Man, I love em!

Chef Mojo म्हणाले...

By the way, it's much easier for me to do the Captcha thingy when I'm stoned. What's up with that?

Oh. It's medicinal, case you were wondering.

Wink-wink, nudge-nudge...

Overheard in the Senate:

"Hey, Harry! Does your face hurt? 'Cause it's killing me!"

Hagar म्हणाले...

The injuries do sound like the results of a disagreement with the Las Vegas mob.

Further on the washing machine saga:
Note that "Hot" wash cycle only means "Warm," and "Warm" only means "Not quite cold."
Also "Small load" means "Really small" and "Medium" means "Small."

This thing also is really noisy, so, provided I do not have taxes due, I do not think I shall have it for long.

It is 2 years to go, and I do not think the boomers of either party have another presidency in them.

My 1975 Frigidaire washing machine has outlasted several generations of dryers.

It washes in cold hard water and rinses in cold hard water.

Gradually your whites turn well-iron colored but gradually they wear out anyway, so it all evens out. The trick is to have white socks the same age as your white shirt so it's coordinated.

"Who´s Running the Country?
A question being asked everywhere in the land.

I think the legacy of the Obama years is going to be a vast interconnected Federal bureaucracy that is not really run by anybody.

It won't be official, and you will only know it exists because, if you offend one part of it, you will suddenly have unexpected troubles from another part.
It will depend on who is married - quaint I guess, so "shacked up with" - to whom, and who either is hanging out with on their own time.

The tie-dyed effects from the undissolved detergent filler tend to bother me.

The fat asses that come from eating fried cheese serve to keep the marble highly polished. That motto is self serving.

Congratulations @Jane! I did notice that! Huzzah! (I think it's Insta-lanche but that's just cold water).
