"Madonna put the songs out shortly after the online leak of more than a dozen songs... she called the leak a 'form of terrorism.'"

"The leaked tracks might, in the end, only raise Madonna’s stature. When the finished album is released — with or without different songs — fans will hear what she adds to them, what she changes, what her standards and instincts demand."

Getting the word "terrorism" associated with her music will certainly help her Google score.

Crazy like a businesswoman!

I always preferred Cyndi Lauper.

"what she adds to them, what she changes..."

It's cute that people at the NYT think Madonna herself has anything at all too do with the actual music that is made by a producer and a team of sound engineers.

Madnna has standards?

I was actually a Madonna fan from the 1980s up through the early 2000's. American Life and onward has been pretty disappointing. Her cringe-inducing rapping, endless guest star spots by young, trendy artists, flashing gold "grills," her 21st century persona has reeked of the older woman who still tries to fit in with what the kids are into by aping their language and mannerisms but ultimately coming across as trying way too hard.

For all of her eminently listenable pop records, I have always appreciated Madonna primarily has a visual artist--her music videos and still photography.

It's not terrorism surely, but I have no problem with artists not wanting their work stolen and dispersed before it's ready.

Madonna has been "over" for a long time.

Terrorism, eh? Reminds me of what Mel Brooks (IIRC) said about the difference between comedy and tragedy. Tragedy is when I get a paper cut. Comedy is when you slip on a banana peel, fall down a manhole and die.

Well yes, releasing Madonna's music is a form of terrorism.
