"A new Marquette Law School Poll in the Wisconsin governor’s race finds Republican Gov. Scott Walker receiving the support of 50 percent of likely voters and Democratic challenger Mary Burke receiving 45 percent support."

"This is the first time since March a candidate has held a lead outside the margin of error among likely voters.... Among registered voters, Walker receives 46 percent and Burke 45 percent...."
In the previous Marquette poll, conducted Sept. 11-14, Walker held a 49-46 edge over Burke among likely voters and registered voters tied at 46 percent support for each candidate....

Among likely voters, Walker leads among men with 62 percent to 34 percent for Burke. Among women, Burke leads with 54 percent to Walker’s 40 percent. With registered voters, Walker leads among men 54-39 percent while Burke leads among women 50-40 percent....
Big gender gap, but Walker's appeal to men outstrips Burke's appeal to women.
Regionally, Burke leads in the city of Milwaukee 69-24 percent and in the Madison media market 66-31 percent.
31% of Madison voters are for Walker? That's a lot!

Not enough of a lead for Walker. the 'Crat's GOTV machine will turn those Free Stuff registed voters into likely voters. Maybe more than once.

FedkaTheConvict म्हणाले...

Walker will win easily. With Voter ID its unlikely that there will be white vans driving up from Illinois to Kenosha and Racine.

But but but . . SECRET ROUTERS!

Not going to be a good November for the kool aid drinkers.

What business is it of the Marquette Law School to be doing polls? Is that they they pay tuition?

kcom म्हणाले...

That's not really a lot. The bluest states are blue because they have enough voters to reliably get more than 50%, not because they're 90% blue. The same is true for sub-regions. And vice versa with red.

Romney got 37.5% in Massachusetts, for instance.

BarrySanders20 म्हणाले...

She's the one with the bigger gender gap problem. Bet the media does not ask why Democrats have such a hard time appealing to men.

Here in Oregon's 4th, Mr DeFazio (D) will be returned to Congress for as long as he likes. And yet there is that consistent 45% of voters who turn out for his opponents. That's a lot. Wonder how many electoral districts are in this position?

As I have often stated, and do fervently believe, Walker will beat her like a rented car.

And married women. The libertine lifestyle appeals to the girls. While women, and men, leave childish things behind.

That is 'Madison media market' and not just city limits.

I would note Walker got 30.4% of Dane County in the recall. These numbers are no surprise, given the sample.

They will get a larger sample size in a few weeks, the one he knows will be held up as a judgement. The last MU Law poll is the only one Franklin gets a decent sample for.

Wait, what? garage assured us Burke had him just where she wanted him.

Maybe I was right and Wisconsin is learning what a moron Mary actually is.

The schadenfreude is making me feel wonderful inside. I fully enjoyed watching victory Walker's speech on recall election night; but replayed Tom Barrett getting slapped by his own supporter multiple times.

Exploding heads in Madison will be the best part of election night.

Among women, Burke leads with 54 percent to Walker’s 40 percent.

Another reason to repeal the 19th amendment.

I liked this # from the poll: "Among registered voters, 1.3 percent say that they do not have a currently valid photo ID." What the hell has the fuss been about?

In other news, 31% of Madison residents admit they lie to pollsters....

I've known a lot of women in my lifetime; I have now and have always had a lot of women friends. It's hard for me to believe the poll results that suggest that a majority of women have fallen for Burke's BS. Maybe it's something about Wisconsin women.

@Althouse?

PackerBronco म्हणाले...

The bottom line is that Burke isn't going to win this race unless she can give enough voters positive reasons to vote FOR her rather than simply voting against Walker.

Unfortunately the more you look at Burke the less there is to see.

Terry Ott म्हणाले...

What I don’t get: Scott Walker, say those on the left, is an unmitigated disaster as Governor (and County Exec before that). Besides, he is corrupt, a cheater, liar, a self-interested opportunist who wants to be POTUS, a tool of the Koch Brothers, and he surrounds himself with lawbreakers. (Did I touch all the bases?)

With that as backdrop, why is this is the third consecutive election where Democrats have failed to get a viable, moderately charismatic and attractive candidate to get into the starting blocks against him on any campaign theme and with ideas other than IANSW ("I am not Scott Walker").

I have no party affiliation, and would be open to voting for someone other than SW. But there would have to be some “there” there. No track record of success at virtually ANYTHING!

It’s a mystery.

अनामित म्हणाले...

The TV ads linking Mary Burke to Benghazi are obviously very effective. It speaks to the independents as well as firing up the base.

Scott Walker's lead will grow even larger in the weeks to come as he cruises to his largest landslide so far, capturing over 75% of the vote.

Brando म्हणाले...

Burke took a big hit on that plagiarism charge. Knocked her off message as a competent businesswoman--she may not have the time to recover.

If Walker wins, it'll be nice to see the unions stew over this. It's time someone smacked them around a bit.

That would be north of 25,000. No way.

I keep hearing about all these people, who are they? You think the liberal press could find some, but never do.

75% might be a little over-optimistic but the rest of your comment is probably accurate.

Voter ID protection laws often mean democrats cannot cheat.

That's a bummer.

How much $$ does Burke's campaign have? Seems like the Dem money people are focusing their attention elsewhere.

Oh, it's easy to find WI voters without valid WI ID. Remember a week back one of the posters here complaining she wouldn't be able to use her ILLINOIS driver's license to vote in Wisconsin? Well, there you go. They'll be the ones arriving in buses from south Chicago and giving Lena Taylor's address as their home address.

अनामित म्हणाले...

With all these people having personally seen these vans and buses bringing Democrats in from Ill to vote in Wisconsin during the recall election you'd think there would be a picture somewhere online of such a thing occurring.

This is the closest thing to such a picture that could be found: http://www.republicreport.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Google-ChromeScreenSnapz300.png

The needs and wants and political opinions of men - especially those scary straight white men - are classified in polite society as being almost as bad as Mein Kampf, or, if the men are lucky, as irrelevant. That's why no one cares enough to ask.
