"If you see her, tell her Dexter says hello."

Oh, I get it now. Took me a while.

Might she be in Tangiers? She left here last early spring and is living there I hear.

Hey, is this a cafe post?

I just found out the STFU judge is also the Carhart judge.

Which makes me think of Beverly Hills Cop for some reason.

"Get the fuck out of here!"

"No I'm serious!"

To me it's interesting that we're still talking about the word "fuck," it still has this power, somehow. There are many people who refuse to use the word. It's a bad, awful word that suggests bad, awful things.

What, sex?

Instead of just recoiling from a word like a superstitious tribe, we ought to take a minute and think about why this word "fuck" upsets us so. And why it has so many different meanings.

It's an ugly word, yes? An ugly word about something we love to do. So how and why is sex ugly or bad? How did it become a curse that we use?

Infanticide. Sex without love leads to Carhart. And not just Carhart but an ancient practice. You can't have Roman orgies without Roman infanticide.

Fuck is the word we have to remind us of all the baby-killing that humanity used to do. This word, ":fuck," comes down to us from the ages, with this meaning that we have forgotten.

Here is John Paul Stevens, cursing the Cubbies to seven more decades of failure. This is the man who said it was a crime to say "fuck" on the radio. Kids might be listening. Protect the children. And here is the same judge, making a joke about the spilling of ink.

Saint Croix, I use profanity sparingly because I want to maintain its power. There is no better way to ruin a perfectly good expletive than to use it casually.

Prof., I followed the links and see it's a message to you, but is it also a reference to the TV show Dexter? I don't watch the show, but I do know it's about a serial killer and wonder if that isn't a recurring cold-blooded threat. (I'm not suggesting it's a threat to you, just wondering if it's a reference to the TV show.)

I used to cuss a lot when I was a kid. Also, I would try to sleep with girls, without regard to whether I loved them or what we do if we made a baby. It's going to sound idiotic, but I always assumed that birth control would work.

And I never understood why so many people are uptight about sex. Sex is fun! What's wrong with you people?

I'm fundamentally liberal in my finances, in my sexual behavior, in my life. But I'm a liberal who has been mugged by reality. So now I'm aware of a lot of things I didn't understand before.
