Humor, creativity and snark. Evidence of such before digital social media. How did this happen?

Spend a few bucks for an ad,take another cheap shot at your Honey. Saving it IS weird, though.

Brilliant. I know more than one young man that feels that way today.

I bet somewhere someone has posted that as his own on "Best of Craigslist"

Does he want her back or not?

At first you think, he wants her back, he's completely sincere, overly romantic. (My reaction: that's not going to work).

And then he gives the punchline. So now he's undercut all his sincerity. Irony! I don't miss you at all. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. I miss my television.

But he wrote it. He spent money on it. He went to a lot of effort to tell this woman he does not miss her. In fact he's announcing to the whole world that he does not miss her.

(My reaction: that's really not going to work).

Got to admit, the guy had a (nasty) sense of humor. Sue made the right decision in dumping him. I bet she kept the TV, too.

One of my favorite Heinleins is Glory Road (it's not very typical of him in some ways), in which the personal ads play a significant part. For YEARS after I first read it in middle school, I'd search for, then SIGH for personal ads that were that interesting.
