What's really so hard about being Gwyneth Paltrow is that sometimes "they're like 'We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks.'"

She'd like you to know that mothers who work in an office have it easier "because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and you come home in the evening."

Yeah, but what about me? With me, they were like We need you to go to Wisconsin for the rest of your life.

Shut up and sing Gwyneth.

And shake that ass for me while you're at it.

Fricken celebs.

And there you went. You must have been desparate ;)

This is one of those truths that successful actors are not allowed to say. Maybe it's easier to accept if one looks at not-so-successful actors.

The hours are often extremely long. The work is often out of town. The workplace is not child friendly.

This is why so many actresses quit or cut way back when they have children.

Coulda been worse I guess, coulda been Cleveland.

Everybody needs to go to Wisconsin for the rest of their life, some of us are lucky enough to already be here.

I thought it would be realizing you didn't deserve to win an Oscar.

This is the bottom of the Paltrow link as per my screen-

Now I must be going. Downtime awaits.

I'd say the used guillotine for sale might be appropriate for the Gwyneth. Bring us her head!

She seems to have made the decision that being a wife and mom, trumped acting, though she wants all three in the mix.

I saw a quote from her the other days where she said " I try to take one good supporting role a year"

You could have escaped Wisconsin at anytime. Which of course begs the question of why go in the first place. But still... Madison has it's charms...

Well, I can retire at any point now. We've thought a lot about where else to go. But Madison is the place to beat, and we don't see it beaten yet.

Any suggestions?

... and I'm not flying
... and I'm pretty sure you can't get a cruise ship to go there.
... and I couldn't receive contractual assurances that there would not be men there wearing shorts.

They write themselves. I'll be here all week...

I think this woman needs a reality check. She has nannies, caregivers, servants, chefs and a whole staff of people to see to her every need. These children are being raised by everyone but Gwynnie. My mouth is still wide open with shock when she says that people with "regular" jobs have it easier than her.

She doesn't need to go to Wisconsin, she needs to get a life.

Knoxville seems to be a great place to retire, AA. University life, scenic, great food, more hospitable politically. No drums?

Maybe Instapundit, does better PR.

Fen sums it up for me perfectly.

And what's so bad about that?

On a more serious note than my last post, I would say Wisconsin summers and fall, and Florida for the winter and spring, might be better than a Madison all year retirement. The biggest problem I see with Madison is the outrageous property taxes you pay there. If you spent more than six months a year in Florida, you would have no WI income tax, mitigating the high property taxes in Madison. As I am not a WI resident, I haven't researched if you would have higher property taxes in Madison if you were not resident (i.e., homesteaded) there.

This is why so many find her to be insufferable. She can make her 5 Million, take her staff and nannies with her to Wisconsin, but she has it so much harder than the dental hygienist with two kids in daycare. Pardon me while I give the teensiest bit of an eyeroll.

Clueless and sheltered.

Hard to argue with Mr. Forward because it is a known fact that EVERYBODY wishes they were a Badger. Of course, some don't know it yet.

So Austin and Boulder are your vacation spots, you went to college in Ann Arbor, and Madison is home. Those four places are widely regarded as the best college towns in the US. Maybe Charlottesville Virginia might be worth a visit to kick the tires. It's a really good town.

Gwyneth is a complicated twit cum soup-nazi. On the one hand, she can say stuff like "when I pass a flowering zucchini plant in a garden, my heart skips a beat"; on the other, she will only let her kids watch Spanish and French TV and no snacks for them.

Greg Hlatky म्हणाले...

The closest Gwynnie has come to regular people are the ones her bodyguards pushed off the sidewalk as she passed.

mccullough म्हणाले...

This is why a lot of people hate Gwyneth.

Lnelson म्हणाले...

Wonder if she has her own village next to the castle.
At least she wouldn't need to "method act" if she were to play Marie Antoinette.

Deborah M. म्हणाले...

She's a idiot. Moving on.

Here is an excellent and hilarious response to Gwyneth's whine; and well deserved, in my opinion - A working mom’s open letter to Gwyneth: http://nypost.com/2014/03/27/a-working-moms-open-letter-to-gwyneth-paltrow/

Asheville, NC. It's a blue enclave in a red state, it's in the mountains so you do get four seasons and cool summer evenings. I think WNCW streams over the internet, if you like what you hear, you've found a new home...

My sympathy for Gwyneth is bounded in a very tiny area with very high walls, lest it escape. Got leg irons on it, too.

Austin म्हणाले...

Oh dear God, the very idea of even one January in that miserable frozen wasteland is enough to cause clinical depression in the average adult. On the lighter side, Bill Murray thought it was OK.

Oh my gosh that is too funny.

My favorite Paltrow line was in one of her GOOP writeups. She mentions some delicious food made by her friend Katie Lee Joel. In the next sentence she says something like, "and Katie's husband, William, enjoyed the cookies too."

Every time my husband and I hear a Billy Joel song we say, "Oh, that William Joel is quite the performer, isn't he?"

Suggestions.

Ashville came to my mind as well. Charleston is cool. Greenville, SC is cool.

SteveR म्हणाले...

I've been reading this blog for ten years and probably know too much to guess what the Professor and Meade might like as an alternative. Routine, predictable and control can be acquired in many places but I do think the college town atmosphere would have to be a key component. Eugene, Oregon

I would like to see Gwyneth go to Afghanistan for a spell. She could even get posted on one of the "nice" bases.

stlcdr म्हणाले...

I'm sure she means well; comparing her own plight to that of working women. But she gets paid an ass ton of money to work long hours, never at home, etc, etc. in other word, she doesn't do those things to have a reasonable life.

It's bad enough that movie stars treat us like infants - perhaps it's because a lot of people glued to the boob tube act and appear to have the intellect of infants.

Deb म्हणाले...

Charleston is a gorgeous city but really hot in summer, plus - hurricanes. I would throw Savannah out there except for the HEAT in summer which is oppressive unless you're used to it. I guess. I can't imagine living there in summer.

Asheville is beautiful.
