"How Much of a Psychopath Are You? Take the quiz, compare yourself with your friends (or with some historical figures)..."

"... and see what pets, musical styles and news media are more popular with the more psychopathic."

I'm surprised at how "psychopathic" average people are. This quiz seems to equate the moral awareness of the reality of other human beings with empathy, which I don't think is right at all. I came out with a 6% score and was told what a warm, "people person" I am, which isn't true.

18%. Sorry, for being so normal.

I scored 21.

You are warm and empathic with a heightened awareness of social responsibility and a strong sense of conscience. You like to carefully weigh up the pros and cons of a situation before you act and are generally averse to taking risks. You are very much a ‘people person’ and dislike conflict. ‘Do unto others…’ are your watchwords. But, although you avoid hurting others, those residing at the higher end of the psychopathic spectrum might not be as considerate, so stay vigilant to avoid being hurt unnecessarily.

That's the same thing that my horoscope told me this morning.

I got 6%, also, and also don't feel myself to be a "people person." I guess their definition of a "people person" is someone who follows the Golden Rule. Doesn't make you an extravert or a hail-fellow-well-met.

Anyway, I got a 42%:

Though your conscience is in the right place you also have a pragmatic streak and generally aren’t afraid to do your own dirty work! You’re no shrinking violet - but no daredevil either. You generally have little trouble seeing things from another person’s perspective but, at the same time, are no pushover. ‘Everything in moderation – including moderation’ might sum up your approach to life.

OMG. Almost as bad as Meade. LOL.

If it weren't for not wanting to see animals in pain and refusing to cheat on my spouse...current spouse....not the last bastard.... it would have been much worse.

Michelle Dulak Thomson म्हणाले...

Bob Ellison,

Interesting quiz, that. It landed me pretty much where I grew up, a bit outside NYC. Apart from the part of the country north and east of there, the only other bit that shaded towards red was ... Wisconsin, where I was born. 25 years living in California appears not to have made much of a mark.

Alex म्हणाले...

I scored a 26%, but I'm sure Inga thinks that's way too low.

Bob Ellison म्हणाले...

Michelle Dulak Thomson, my results on the dialect quiz were similar to yours: I was located in the area where both of my parents were raised, roughly around Omaha, which has a pretty distinct accent and idiom. I've never lived there, but I talk just like my mother and father.

The sandwich question (on the language test) is heavily weighted -- my city of origin moved all over the place based on how I answered it.

Probably because the sandwich name changes completely from location to location. In Connecticut, where I lived until 1997, "grinder" is the exclusive name. How exclusive? No one ever says "sub," even though that's Subway's term and the company's headquarters is in Connecticut.

Now I live on Long Island, which is so close to Connecticut that you can see it from the Connecticut shoreline,* absolutely no one ever says the G-word. Instead it's "hero," with "sub" used on very rare occasions.

I can't think of any other regional terms that differ so sharply from one location to another. Maybe "soda" vs. "pop," but the pop areas seem to be going over to soda.

[Note] From the dialect quiz there are two other Connecticut vs. Long Island distinctions: tag sale (CT) vs. yard sale (LI), and frontage road (CT, very rarely used) vs. service road (LI).

* = though it certainly isn't fast to travel between Connecticut and Long Island, not to mention the obscene tolls on the Throgs Neck Bridge.

It has to do with your willingness to abandon commitments (to others, to responsibilities) to suit your own impulsive wants. It's s measure of your selfishness.
