Insurance company insider says Obama's IYLYPYCKYP fix "doesn’t change anything other than force insurers to be the political flack jackets for the administration."

As quoted by Evan McMorris-Santoro at BuzzFeed and repeated in the headline.

What the hell is a "flack jacket"? A jacket to keep flacks away?

Perhaps he meant "flak jacket," I don't know. The flacks really have been annoying lately.

We could compare Obama to a muskrat caught in a trap chewing his own leg off ... if muskrats could build traps.

Flack jackets are what corpse-men wear.

I think you're giving him too much phlakk. It's not like he's a professional writer. He's a reporter (they used to be professional writers, you know; the desire to "make a difference in the world" has pretty well fucked that up).

"Wait... what? I promised they could...? Oh yeah.
And they're mad? But that was...
Well look, no big deal, they can. As far as I'm concerned they can. Sure, you bet."

The insurance industry might want to start fighting back a little. I don't feel bad for them because they happily got into bed with this man --- but when the infections hit, you normally should try to do something to combat that.

Obama's "fix" is unlikely to go anywhere since it probably will be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court at some point in the future, but it will create more confusion and cost the insurance companies a lot of money they can ill afford on top of all the money they have already spent to comply with Obamacare plus generate another boatload of ill will against them, because, "But the President has said....", and never mind that what the President "says" does not necessarily cut that much ice with either the courts or the state insurance superintendents.

damike has hit on it. Never get in bed with Obama. He will turn on you at the first sign he can help himself by doing so.

Republicans should link any attempt to "fix" Obamacare to Obama bringing in a new Czar to oversee implementation, an avowed expert that everyone can trust.

HILLARY!

Not a bad pun.

And Harry Reid is at work on a "comprehensive" immigration reform bill that is already rumored to run to 1300+ pages.

Like the AHCA bill proposal, that is probably double or triple spaced to allow for pencilling in additions and amendments, but it surely is another Obama administration trainwreck in the making.

It is not only the insurance companies that cannot adjust their computer systems this quick, the states' insurance divisions and interested federal agencies also would have to, so it plainly is not going to happen.

In the short term the Obama administration may gain political advantage from "But the President said ....," but in the long term it will be stuck with being the administration that presided over the most glorious government designed policy failure in history.

This is a crisis for single-payer. I can't see it ever getting sixty votes in the Senate, but either it is going to happen quickly, or it is never going to happen at all.

The President's "fix" is just another lie.

Since he doesn't have the authority to change the law, he's just misstated the law, again. He's lied about what the ACA requires, again.

Example: A citizen depends on his rose garden statement, continues to pay his old insurer for a high deductible insurance policy that doesn't mean the ACA's requirements. The IRS sends him a bill for the penalty. The citizen tries to fight the penalty in court, and... what, quotes the President's rose garden statement?

"i, President Obama, hereby pinky swear that everyone can ignore this law for a year, cross my heart and hope to die, stick a thousand needles in my eye."

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Who wouldn't want to make major business decisions based on that? That's the triple dog dare of swearing.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

A couple years later, "No, no. I meant you didn't have to pay the fine if you had an ACA approved plan. I mean, that is the law. Duh, people."

Sadly the same marching morons who believed that Obama was going to give them free gas and pay their mortgages will believe this transparently nonsense gimmick of a "fix".

Oh, yes, that's up with newly elected officials who are "taking the reigns" instead of "taking the reins". Rrrrrr

At least gun control and illegal alien amnesty are dead for a couple of cycles. The red and purple state Democrats have already fallen on a pretty big grenade for Barack Obama and are not in a mood to take a couple more for the team.
