"A new national poll indicates, that for the first time, there may be an early frontrunner in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination."
Christie gets 24%, polling against Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush, and Rick Santorum.
What about Scott Walker?

he may be leading, but I won't vote for him. He blew it with his hugging Obama in 2012 effectively endourcing a Democrat.
Unless the comprehensive immigration bill is enacted, Orcs will not be able to vote in 2016.
I generally suppost Republicans. But ... . If Christie heads the ticket, I won't support him or other Republicans. The RINO Party is not one I'll support.
Let the "establishment Republicans" be forewarned. They may be rich, powerful men but they have only 1 vote each.
With Christie, the story writes itself. He's good copy.
These other guys are boring, and they're from places nobody wants to go to.
"These other guys are boring, and they're from places nobody wants to go to."
You mean people voluntarily go to New Jersey???
When I lived in S. California, I often saw bumper stickers that said: "There is no civilization east of Interstate 5", but that was before the state totally tanked.
I have no idea why Christie is so heavily touted when he's been an abject failure as governor. New Jersey has one of the higher unemployment rates among the states, when by all rights it should have among the lowest: New Jersey is the nation's (and to some extent the world's) center for the fast-growing and high-paying pharmaceutical industry, it has a highly skilled and educated workforce, much of the state's within commuting distance of highly paid Wall Street jobs, and most of all New Jersey avoided the worst of the real estate bust.

Mr. Christie is very much approved---By the terrorism & Jihad supporting organization called CAIR.
In evaluating that organization look at Article-III, Section-3 of the Constitution of the USA.
re: Scott Walker, this poll has him at 3% in PA
Among GOP primary voters, Christie has a decent 26-16 lead over Cruz, with Paul’s 14%, Bush’s 10%, Santorum’s 8%, Marco Rubio’s 6%, Paul Ryan’s 5%, and Scott Walker’s and Bobby Jindal’s 3% bringing up the rear.
If history is any guide, 2016 should be a good year for the GOP. So if he wins the nomination, he has a good chance of winning. And I for one welcome our new portly Jersey overlords!
He's a warlock, obviously! He eats corrupt union corporations for lunch.
J. Roberts...
My point is that if you are an opinion maker, such as a national reporter, Trenton is about two hours from NYC or 90 minutes from Newark or Philly Airport.
You can hang with the Big Guy and still be home for dinner.
The problem someone like Walker has is that Christie is pure People magazine material. Name recognition? Out the proverbial wazoo.
Well, obviously, because it's one moderate against 6 conservatives, so their percentages are split. Once a conservative frontrunner is named, the conservative will be ahead of Christie.
I suppose I could be persuaded to vote for Chris Christie, for instance if the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton. In my state's primary? Not hardly likely.
@St. George, right about now "boring" sounds like a great trait for a President to have. And do you really want to go to New Jersey??? You must never have been there.
Big Mike--
I grew up in Princeton. Lovely town. NW Jersey is beautiful as is the shore. What the world refuses, Trenton uses.
The point is that Christie has a huge advantage over his GOP competitors. I'm an editor, and he's a dream story. His fatness alone puts him in the tabloids and crap TV shows constantly. His mouth makes him constantly quotable. HIs proximity to NYC gives him access to the networks. For northern voters, he not some gun-crazed black-hating Southerner nor is he some boring white guy from the midwest. The man's already got huge name recognition. Who is Scott Walker and why is his name so non-alliterative?
Christie will NEVER be the POTUS. Enough said.
The GOP will NOT WIN in 2016, unless:
- GOP ticket is Scott Walker/Kelly Ayotte
AND
- Hillary!/O'Malley is NOT the ticket for Democrats.
You see, Hillary! is the nominee. Face it. If she selects an ambitious/opportuntistic/progress like Martin O'Malley, then GOP will lose. Martin will go after Kelly like Cheney went after Edwards in 04.
GOP will not have a woman as VP. Why? GOP is a backward, stupid, anti-science party.
Thus, you should thank me for sharing the next POTUS and VPOTUS for you: Hillary and Martin.

@St. George, voting for a person because he or she is a ready source of good copy for editors has be right down at the bottom of the list. Is there a point where even editors start to care about good governance?
I guess to ask the question is to answer it.
Scott Walker wasn't included in the list in the question.
Even people who would lean towards him are likely to pick someone actually named, rather than "Other", when so prompted.
I'm also looking forward to Rick Perry's rendezvous with destiny. He was the best and most thoughtful advocate for the current state of conservative ideology back in 2012 and he certainly can do the same in 2016.
"He was the best and most thoughtful advocate for the current state of conservative ideology back in 2012 and he certainly can do the same in 2016."
All he can do is run a successful state. That is definitely not a Democrat priority.
"Christie is heavily touted"
"Christie has a huge advantage"
The copy really does write itself. Let's try this kids, just give 'em a big, fat "no" if they try to stuff Christie onto the ballot. The elephant in the room is the MSM positioning to force a RINO on us.
Big Mike--
I totally agree with you.
The point is that C.C., the Big Boy, fatso, tubsy wubsy, is going to get the press because he makes a good story...the big mouth, Jersey Shore, Springsteen. Yadda-yadda. It's already happened.
Most people don't care about politics the way you or I do. They don't think about it. They don't know nuthin'! These other guys Cruz, Walker, they're boring, they quote Aristotle. WTF! Gimme Bon Jovi. I bet tubs likes Bon Jovi. He's a winner. Two slices with extra cheese.
At one point I was a big fan of Chritie's.
Then he showed himself to be a loud mouthed bully who is perfectly willing to sacrifice the needs of his political party and the American people for his own needs.
If he is the Republican nominee I will abstain or vote third party.
in CNN/ORC poll
Not to be confused with the MSNBC/Uruk-Hai poll.
Tolkien reference #2 for the thread.
Scott Walker would be great but unfortunately lacks sufficient fans among all the right people.
Too soon for Walker. He's the ideal Cristie Veep.
Indeed, Scott Walker.
Talk about actual experience implementing rational policy in the face of hysterical and nationally-supported special-interest groups, including the MSM.
Christie is a lightweight.
I don't think much is known about Walker nationally. I have to admit; if I didn't read Althouse, I wouldn't know much about him, either.
The state senators that fled WI to avoid voting on the union bills got more positive press nationally than Walker ever did.
The national press will never write about how Walker turned a deficit into a surplus, and how employment in the state is growing.

Ego, thy name is Politician.....

Ditto...

The national press is twisted into pretzels with revulsion towards Governor Walker.
He's not a drama queen like Obama and Christie and Elizabeth Warren. How can the press write about such a man, when he simply does what he says he'll do and doesn't speak in slogans? When his idea of 'freedom of choice' extends beyond abortions to ending mandatory State collection of union dues?
The national press loves Walker's screeching mobs of opponents, demonstrating to us that our 'news' media prefers exhibitionism to governance. That's a strange preference, for an institution on which we depend for our reasoned responses to current events.
Time to get a new national press.
How about Christie & Rand Paul as the ticket?
Scott Walker currently is running for Vice President. If he wins his re-election with more than 60% of the vote, he might be viable in the presidential contest.
The point is that C.C., the Big Boy, fatso, tubsy wubsy, is going to get the press because he makes a good story..
There may be a difference in the effect of newsworthiness during primaries. The hinterlands may not be so impressed by the MSM's enthusiastic promotion of Christie. I think such a situation could even be a turn-off to GOP primary voters, who probably do not heed NYT editorials. Christie lost me as a possible primary vote when he put his nose up Obama's butt and bragged about it afterwards. He dislikes the GOP's base, which is the Tea Party and those who support Tea Party ideas. And they dislike him – not a good recipe for winning GOP primaries.
However, should Christie survive the primaries and win the nomination I will send money, talk him up and enthusiastically vote for him over the Democrat nominee. Resentment should have limits, I think.
As for Walker, I like him a lot. We know, don't we, that the MSM will gig him for lack of a college degree and paint him as a dummy? Of course, ANY GOP nominee will get the standard MSM literary lynching reserved for GOP presidential candidates. I would love to have the chance to vote for him. He would be fresh air in the stilted political atmosphere of our national politics.
The real issue is who was polled. If it were the Republican base, then the poll has some marginal utility. If it was not, then it is of no value.
