"What Happens When You Stand For 2 Years."

"I didn’t develop any knee, foot, back, or hip pains. I don’t feel exhausted at the end of the day or week.... My posture improved. My neck and shoulders no longer pitch forward. My legs became more muscular. I no longer get back pain...."

I enjoyed reading that. You know I'm a big fan of my motorized sit/stand desk, and I need more reason to opt for the up position.

Somehow, this topic got me around to buying an Indo Board IndoFLO Balance Stimulator. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'll let you know how it works out. This video influenced me. (If you are younger/more athletic, consider this.)

I wonder if you can stand at work -- for 10 hours at a time -- and then go on a long airline flight, with enforced sitting for, say, 8 hours.

Would the body rebel?

Let us know if the TSA lets it in the plane.

All you ever had to do was ask a sales person. Retail cashiers, especially in the bad old days. Fallen arches, varicose veins, bad venous return causing pedal edema ... this dude is what, 30-something? Let's hear what he has to say when he's about 55 and REALLY starting to whine. Color me cynical -- this stuff is cute for an indulgence, it sucks if you have to live and die by it.

I'd be more impressed if the guy had significant body mass.

One of the great things about being a teacher was all the standing. Really.

What a silly idea... "Get off your chair lady! Standup and WORK!" Iconoclastic behavior is generally a bad idea, wears on you, and is eventually found out. How do you afford your rock 'n' roll lifestyle? Alright, oh yeah, so good alright.

I your desks. Great idea. My home office has a lovely old partner desk with a long personal history, so I can't really do it at home. No way to get the department to go for it at work, but I might spring for it on my own at some point. In the meantime, I'm making a point of standing up and shaking hands each time a student comes in the office (which is a lot with my current job.) Otherwise, I could stay glued to a chair for hours on end.

This MAY be true for him, but he has to be one peculiar specimen. Ask any pharmacist what standing all day does for them. It's horrible. Support socks help a little, but not enough.

Like the comments here. This guy didn't stand for two years, he stands at work. So do lots of people (a basic fact he seems unaware of), let's hear back when he's done it for 10 years istead of just two.
