Overachievement...

... in the category of little girl hairstyles.

ADDED: And then there's Guys With Fancy Lady Hair. The names for the hairdos alone are worth the click, e.g., Desperately Vintage and Hippie Wedding. Via Metafilter, where somebody says: "Yes to the baby's breath in dude's beard. Nice touch."

Very well developed muppets on that site.

I don't have a little girl, but if I did, she'd wear the same hairstyle I did as a kid: brushed.

I didn't have a little girl either, but if I did, I'd let her choose what length, and if long, I'd have at least offered to do:

1. Ponytail -- single or double.

2. Braids -- single or double, and including French braids.

I stopped at "Bushy, bushy blond hairdo, surfin' USA". Everything else was superfluous...

Addendum: My daughter was allowed to have her hair as she chose it. But brushed. She grew up with Shirley Temple curls so of course...she irons it straight. She's a woman and I don't ask, I just let it pass.

Most little girls love to have fancy hairstyles just not the pulling and sitting so long.

But these are really creative and fancy styles

Not worth the trouble. Even for something like a flower girl at a wedding.

My three little girls wore their hair how it was easiest and quickest for me, as I worked full time. Mostly their hair was long brushed and in baretts, or pony tail or braids. When they were about 10, they did their own hair with some of my oversight. It was my son's hair that usedto give me fits, he hated haircuts for many years.

Also, my girls learned how to French braid before I did.

My two girls (9 and 11) love watching the hair tutorials and doing hair. I've learned to do the knotted headband and a few others--they don't take very long and it's just a fun thing to do with them.

They can have their hair as long as they like, as long as it's neat. My older daughter just cut hers 10" so it is now chin length. She hates it, misses her long ponytail, and is now determined to grow it back out. Little sis has decided, "No way am I cutting mine!"

But I have to say, I really want to learn the "Chaperone Chic" for my own shoulder-length hair!

This is why God gave me boys. I see this and want to hide under the bed.
