Yahoo took it down, his sister thinks it should be put back up — that photo at the link is not the sister, btw — and the group known as Anonymous has put the whole thing up.
So I went over there (to the link at the line) and read some of Manley's suicide website. Some. Not all. It's quite long. Multipaged. You'd think someone that chatty wouldn't be so impatient with the way life is not over yet. So why did he kill himself? I still don't know! And I skimmed a few pages, including "Why suicide?"
Some people are afraid a website like that will encourage suicide. It encouraged me to wisecrack that if I had to read this whole thing, I'd kill myself. But that's just it. You don't have to read the whole thing. And you won't be lured into Martin Manley's little world of suicide. I don't think. I predict, if you browse around over there, before you figure out what his point was, you'll get bored and click back into the real world, the world where life goes on, and you can always think of something better to do than check out early.

No worries, I've got too many hickens to bath and then shower and then roast and then savor, then digest, then....
TMI?
Seriously folks, life is too short when you're having a good time, I suppose. I goes on endlessly when you're not.
3 para's in and my eyes are glazing. Damnit this man took his life, in part, so that I could read about it. Skipping around the site induces further glazing. I have way to much to do to be looking at this shit. Oops, now I feel guilty again. Sub Section - "I Look 60". Well I'm 60 and (takin' a quick check into the mirror) I'm gonna' stay alive thank you very much. I refuse to peruse anymore. I just suicided 3 minutes of my life.
I read it too, but I think the best explanation for why he killed himself is found not on the site itself but rather in the picture of Manley that was published after his death. Manley killed himself because he had started to look like a broad.
He could try out wingsuit flying. Or he could play Russian Rulette. Or he could be a Jihadist with a bomb belt and kill infidels.
There are so many neat things suicidal jerks can find to do and make themselves the center of attention.
Hickens? Bwakkk, that should be chickens.
"Hickens to bath". I meant chickens to bathe. It helps to have the ability to laugh at one's own mistakes when seeking happiness and long life. I've had more than my fair share of mistakes to correct....and chuckle while doing so. Better than crying, or committing suicide over.
Hunter S. Thompson knew how to write suicide notes, complete with title - and he will forever be remembered for his brevity.
"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun -- for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax -- This won't hurt."
With a sort of cryptic, ironic, metaphorical hilarity, he took a black marker and titled the note: "Football Season Is Over."
I took about 10 minutes and skipped around (I'm at work and bored). Seems like he was normal, average guy, who just didn't seem to get much pleasure from life or connect with anyone. 2 marriages, 2 divorces and no kids. No real hobbies, didn't like to read. His favorite TV/Movies mostly brainless Hollywood crap. Didn't like to travel.
No passion for food, sex, exercise, or much of anything. No doubt he was depressed most of his life, or his writing is colored by depression.
Oddly, he was religious. Usually these kind of Aspberger types can't connect with religion.
I don't think the site will recruit one person to suicide. Quite the opposite.
After looking at the picture, I'll guess that he didn't blow his brains out. I'll guess that he OD'd on barbiturates.
I read through the website and all it told me how utterly self-absorbed this guy was.
His writings were so logical and emotion-less it was obvious that there must have been something wrong with him.
Peter
I wonder if that could be Christopher Hickens??
It's pretty why he committed suicide. I guess you did not *want* to understand.
I came across the page last night when it was plastered on the front page of CNN. I bounced around and honestly found it fascinating to read - the man really thought it out and put a heck of a lot of thought into things, especially when you consider the thoroughness of his site. I may have a bit of a problem with the "how 2" link but didn't get to read it (can't get in to the site today) and I'm not sure I would have read it.
In one way I can't say this is much different then Adrian Sudbury (google the name) when he blogged about the end of his life...as he was dying from leukaemia - aside from the way both men went out, obviously. Just my opinion.
There is a monster that waits for you when you are weak and hopeless and that monster is suicide. It comes to you and offers to take away your problems. I made a video that explains how this monster works.

I read the majority of martins blog, and its obvious to me he was depressed for most of his life. Its there you just have to look. I also was in denial about my depressioon fora long time. - if you live next to a noisy airport your whole life, there will be a time when you just hear the noise anymore.
It's a shame you chose to ridicule his decision. We would all be better served by trying to understand each other.
