Because coming out as transgendered these days is very very difficult. So much hate. No support at all. Does this need a sarc tag?

When will the alphabet community admit that "coming out" is a political and social positive these days?

It's never going to fucking end.

From the article: In it, Beck describes how,... she slowly became more and more aware that was she meant to live life as a woman

I hate when people talk like that. Meant to do this by who, or what, exactly? Like there's some grand plan that can only be followed by this person having a fake vagina? It's magical, religious thinking, by people who like to pretend they're better than that.

Did she keep the beard?

Recently spoke to a gay acquaintance at his 59th birthday party who served in the military around 1975 and stated that soldiers, at least at the time, were unconcerned about issues of sexual orientation.

What made it a Clinton campaign issue?

Shouldn't he have written "Sister, I am with you ......"

Yawn.

...and what Lemondog said.

"Beck, who identified as a man (and went by the name Chris)"

Real-world translation: Beck, who was born male and given the name Chris by his parents.

" she slowly became more and more aware that was she meant to live life as a woman"

Yet sex is biology; gender is socially constructed.

Therefore, although Beck may become more feminine, Beck will never be a woman. At least not unless/until genetic engineering makes it possible to turn all those zillions of XY cells into XX.

Of course Beck has an absolute right to pretend to be a woman. But I don't see that politeness requires the rest of us to share the fantasy.

Which barracks should it live in? What showers should it use? What bathrooms should others, of less confused gender identification, be forced to share with it?

It's like an octogenarian pretending to be a teenager- even if surgery and hormones could make it look convincing, it's still a lie.

I'm happy for her and more happy if she didn't want to make money off her story.

It doesn't change the underlying fact that when he was a SEAL, he had testosterone bulking up those muscles and a male cardio pulmonary system.

A Male body that thinks she's a woman can get through BUDS, that doesn't mean that a Female body that thinks he is a man can do the same.

The psychiatric community wants to treat and help people overcome all other disorders except this one. Should I pretend the hallucinations of a schizophrenic are real? Why is it we're all suppose to play along with transgendered people? Isn't imagining there is a woman inside a man screaming to get out sort of a hallucination?

Get help buddy, before you mutilate yourself. Maybe there is a medication that can help your confusion.

I don't care if people want to do this, but I don't understand the idea that it's brave or courageous to do it. You are simply giving in to your desires. You are doing what you want to do. That seems, if not the opposite of, at best tangential to courage.

Courage usually involves doing the opposite of what your emotions or surface desires instruct. It seems that any fear involved is not a fear of personal harm, and is far less than the fear of not getting what you want. You may fear losing the friendship and support of some people, but you are deciding that you don't want it anyway if you can't have it as the gender you desire. This decision is giving in, rather than resisting, and we usually align that with cowardice , not courage.

If it makes him happy and he pays for it, then it's fine with me, but I don't need to imagine it as some kind of diving on a hand grenade to accept it. It's just a personal choice for personal enjoyment, and that's fine.

Isn't this similar to what Althouse insists on calling "self-murder". In the same way it's disrespectful of the needs of people around you who need you as the person they always knew, and you are kind of murdering that person.

Because they were given the Alinsky treatment by ACTUP about 20 years.

raf म्हणाले...

Wouldn't it be more accepting to admit that there are effeminate men than to insist that such must actually be women, somehow, inside? Seems like that is some serious stereotyping.

edutcher म्हणाले...

Yes, but they would still be men and not what the author of "Fanny Hill" called male-misses and thus another protected class.

If you're "naturally" a slob, are self-help books changing something fundamental about you?

Can anything change a person internally, or just rearrange the surface interactions? Granted people believe in things that are wrong, but that's nothing new.

Progressive Confusion (PC).

Why is there an effort to normalize dysfunctional behavior?

Does it have a redeeming value to society or humanity?

I don't give a shit if this guy/girl/he/she/it/whatever has a tail, cat ears, speaks Klingon and is green and pink polka dots. She is a better human being than a thousand of any one of us put together. Her shits are better than 99.9% of the human population. She has earned the right a hundred times over to do whatever is they want to do. You should be kneeling in her presence and in any SpecOps players presence and thanking them for who they are and what they do, for they are Gods among men. They are the tip of the spear that keeps you from drooling on yourself and shitting your pants. As far as I'm concerned, Ms. Becks has earned absolute moral authority from me.

The TV evening news is filled with advertisements for Low-T, and all the lovely unintended side effects.

If you are diagnosed with Low-T, then are you becoming a female?

At what level of testosterone deficiency do you start thinking of mutilating your genitalia?

Pet peeve about transgenders in the news: young kids who prefer to act in ways associated with the opposite sex used to be tomboys or sissies. Now they're being labelled transgender, having their names and pronouns changed, being affirmed, "yes, you really are a girl" and given hormones to delay puberty. Young kids don't understand sex and gender: in their minds, girls have long hair and play with dolls, so if a boy wishes he had long hair and likes to play with dolls, he is going to think he's actually a girl. No one should be going along with this -- but apparently, it's preferable to "change" the boy into a girl than to say, "you really are a boy because you have a penis. But would you like to play barbies or tea party?"

Shouldn't this be written as "He slowly became more and more aware that he was meant to live life as a woman"? Because, HE hadn't actually become a woman yet.

Skyler म्हणाले...

Really? And people believe this story? And SEAL's use phrases like "peace, brother" like a bunch of hippies in a commune?

Maybe it's true, but I doubt it.

And if it's true, the lesson is that anyone can be a pervert, not just people who weren't in the military.

Crunchy Frog म्हणाले...

HE ain't a woman now. He's a dude with his dick chopped off (or about to be - I don't care enough to want to know his actual dick status).

jr565 म्हणाले...

True enough Crunchy frog. But I'll say that he hadn't yet gone through the operation that allowed him to pretend that he was in fact a woman.

Methadras, have I told you lately how much I love you?

As for Beck, I hate to lose a handsome male former SEAL, but live your life as you will, and much happiness to you.
