At the Canoe Café...

Untitled

... yes, you can.

(Enlarge to perceive the Capitol in the center of the photo. This was taken from the end of Picnic Point yesterday evening. There was some sort of canoe race going on.)

That post about the vanishing veto left me wondering whether the effectiveness of presidential signing statements has ever been litigated to a conclusion.

At first blush, I would think that if a statute is unambiguous on a point, then the Courts should enforce it as an expression of the will of Congress, and never even look at a signing statement. But I bet the reality is a bit messier.

And you didn't go?

Nice to see you're getting the good weather.

That looks fun.

I took this photo last Monday and only came to realize the beautifully centered vanishing point afterwards.

A really nice confluence of coincidences or just one coincidence?

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

Maybe I should mention that I was in a train.

Smelt are running in Ashland and I'm really tempted to run up and get some. Think the waders have a leak though, which is never a pleasant thing to experience.

I found four Morels yesterday.
it's raining today and Sat.
So if you're inclined go hit your favorite spots on Mothers day.
Should even be good in the Madison area.

I've raced on Lake Mendota. Women's Varsity 4+ collegiate champs back in the 80s, in a borrowed boat, a heavy old wooden bathtub of a boat. We beat the prestige teams who had expensive eggshell thin racing boats and full time boatwrights. We rowed PERFECTLY. Jenn "Crabs" McGee didn't catch a crab! It was my one moment of athletic glory. It was Zenlike, burning, in oxygen deprivation that I had conditioned us to perceive as the fire of a furnace of power. We felt strong through the heat of pain. I threw up afterwards--sign of a great race. LOL

I should clarify that I am referring to rowing.

I might take my DSM parks key with me this weekend and stop by the boathouse and see if it still works lo these many years later. We used to go skinny dipping after bar, in the Greenwood Park pool, with boys. Dirty snicker.

The Madison skyline is funny. The Capital is the tallest building and it's been that way for a long time.

How do you drop back into Twitter? When you're in it, there you are, rushing along with the current, but then if you leave it, you come back, and the course looks a little different, a little strange. It's like a whole new thing. How do you jump back into that torrent?

Hmmm.

garage, I love smelt. I was introduced to smelt and smelt fishing in Chicago. All you need is a net and a 12 pack of Old Style. I can eat 50 of those suckers w/ ease.

Rusty म्हणाले...

Usually the browns are running at the same time the smelt-pronounced "schmelt" in Kenosha-are running.
In lake michigan that is.

Ken, what is impressive? Our rowing victory against all odds, or having the key I the DSM park system and using it to take boys skinny dipping after bar?
