"What's wrong with being fat? Why is it so onerous to be fat?"

"I don't see anything wrong with fat."

Hahaha, that was great. I felt like a large mammal!

Jim Morrison didn't have a problem with being fat, but I had a problem with Jim Morrison getting fat. He was absolutely gorgeous for a few short years.

He got excited there talking about mashed potatoes. I think he must have loved mashed potatoes almost as much as he loved Jack Daniels.

That was very cool.

My absolute favorite, it never gets tired..

Inga... slow down with those avatars changes.

I saw it before, but I didn't know it was you, so I didn't read you.

I only read a few people... consistently.

My favorite Doors is "People Are Strange."

And "why is it onerous to be fat?" Because it's onerous to be fat, that's why. Ever watch an obese person try to get out of a beanbag chair?

I once weighed 25 lbs. more than I do now. I found it quite onerous.

I think Jim (The Poet!) didn't really know what "onerous" means. It sounds like he meant to say "shameful" or "disgraceful" instead.

"My favorite Doors is 'People Are Strange.'"

Tossup between that and "Moonlight Drive."

"People Are Strange."

It's a good thing otherwise my family would be too large for me to ever get to know them.

I always thought Morrison was way overrated as a poet (way too many screaming butterflies there) but underrated as a singer. He is one of the very few rock vocalists who could have made it as a crooner in the pre-rock era. (I love the Stones, but prior to the '60's, Jagger would have been mocked off the face of the earth the second he started singing.)

The first song I learned to play on bass was "Light My Fire." All of the band members were 13 years old. The organist was excellent. All other considerations of musical quality are irrelevant to me.

I like 'People are strange' too. But in the 'Riders on the storm', the instrumental part is simply superb and his voice.. my local radio (100.3 BIG DC) station plays it sometimes as I drive to work and I sit in the car to finish listening before getting out.

He died when he was only 27.. what a shame!

My understanding of the concept of "coincidence" is limited such that I prefer the conspiracy of a "Truman Show" to the reality I'm not important enough for people to bug and then blog my personal conversations, which in the last few days have inordinately involved both getting and excusing fat.

Not having the time, in real life recently having spoken about much involving this topic, now I will say what I have said before online since again I didn't have the time, then, with no result(s):

Look at Orson, or that guy who Hollywood made a sex symbol that got fat and happy selling wine (OMG), or W. C. Fields.

I've heard a lot of people disparage Morrison vocals, but I always liked him a lot. He was immediately recognizable, unique and just fit the music and the times perfect. I didn't appreciate the doors when they were active, but did later on. I also appreciated him more in audio alone than seeing the performance. I'm not entirely female.

Bagoh, LOL, that was just what I had in mind!

I've been fat, and I've been fit, never thin. I definitely prefer fit in every way. I can't think of anything that's better when you're fat. You can even eat more when your fit without changing size. I assume nobody likes the idea of just getting fatter and fatter.

Having had a weight problem most of early life, I'm too far gone to ever be satisfied fat again. Once you go from fat to fit, you just like the way it feels and looks so much that it's a very satisfying feeling. The mental training from being a fat kid is too ingrained in me to feel anything but uncomfortable when fat.

I don't dislike fat people, or even think it says much about them, except that they will probably turn down hang gliding or hiking, and likely say yes to going out to eat. I love it all and I'm very glad I have the choice. Being fit gives you more choices in a lot of things.

Yes! I feel the same way about the song "California Dreaming." Perfectly summons up a particular time and place.

But it doesn't summon up the era and time and place for me that it does for many other people. It immediately takes me back to the park near the house in Wisconsin I grew up in. It played on the transitor radio while I struggled (unsuccessfully) to master the art of softball pitching. Not exactly Haight-Ashbury.

But I remember "California Dreaming," "Ruby Tuesday" and "Paperback Writer" as the background music of my dismal pitching.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Loved Paperback Writer.

There is a reason I didn't, most accurately couldn't remember Brando's name.

I thought of about 10 movies in 6 seconds, all not revealing anything about the actor (bitchtits or not, as Marlon Brando could have been one to expound about that I would have listened to on that topic were it as that) but the scene.

His brand is atheistic obesity with homicidal children.

Who wants to remember that?

I have had the same experience, except I was a skinny kid and a thin young adult who suddenly began packing on weight when I was in my late 30's and early 40's. I had never had to exercise or watch what I ate before, so it was very difficult to have to change my ways and start exercising. But I'm glad I did.

Bagoh,

As a man, regardless of race for now, although of course race is always now and always has been and always will be topical, do you feel as I do that women view and rightly so matters of their own personal weight as an item of more importance, emotional as well as intellectual, than men?

Called, rightly so, a beta, and being myself not minding those labels even when they are accurate, being human, my thoughts converge around a synthesis too simple:

Peace Frog is a great tune.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Notentirelybuckly,

I find it all bulbous yet mildly tapered with no finding of velocodic intrepity, but I don't judge the melofocity like some feel the rage.

"Peace Frog" is also the name of a Doors cover band that has played "Riders on the Storm" on Venice Beach at least 1000 times. There are always leather pants.

BTW, I'm a fat chick right now, and when I was young a girl like me could never get a ride in a conversion van with a nice sound system, but with the music, times have changed.
