Last week, I purchased the Wii remote (2) drive things, which made it into the POD. My oldest son wants it to be known that actually he purchased them, for his brothers, from his own money (mostly lemonade stand). This wasn't entirely altruistic as my son would be the first to admit, because it also allows him to play Mario Cart with his brothers (or friends) two or three at a time. He is glad that Meadehouse gets a cut, thinks it is fine that amazon and the other amazon associate seller gets their cut, along with whomever is the manufacturer. He was quite pleased with himself when I discovered how many people his particular purchase helped: the original manufacturer, the amazon retailer, Amazon, Meadehouse his two younger brothers, and himself.
Smart kid.
Lego platform upon which to build one's first zoo.
10" X 10 " green $6.99
And other colors and sizes.
So, with all this money flowing in, are you going to replace your TT (if you still have it) with a golden sedan chair, with a few guys from the Isthmus as bearers?
I like those snow shoes. If we had snow more than once every couple of years I might buy some.
"Smart kid."
I'll say. Please tell him his purchase helped one other entity: Zeus. (Beef femur bone.)
We did go on to discuss that those who earned money would go on to either spend it, helping other merchants/manufacturers or save it, thus increasing investment.
Beats breaking windows.
I'm gonna have to buy some bizarre shit from the Amazon portal just to get it listed.
What I've bought so far just hasn't cut it.
Here's something I've been using a lot this winter. Probably have saved me thousands in medical bills alone.
The Amazonian doorway lay ahead, tall, slender and dark, its narrow perforation a casino mechanism, dispensing the hot winnings of unseen commerce."
I'm not sure about the psychology of your feedback posts. On one hand, it is nice to be acknowledged for a purchase, and contribution to the blog
On the other hand, some might be offended that their purchase wasn't high-lighted....."Meadehouse is making money off my comments, and my purchases, but they haven't acknowledged ME!!"
You know....Some people need more validation than others.
It's too bad that Amazon doesn't provide some feedback about the blog contribution when the purchase is made.
Hmmm....I just read the Crunchy Frog comment. I think he validates my concern.
Knock knock, Al Gore.. You there?
Hot winnings of unseen commerce...laughed out loud in a restaurant.
Who is that odd woman laughing at her Catholic plate of Lenten fishy goodness?
I told you the Catholics were weird.
Knock knock, Al Gore.. You there?
Quiet. He's hanging out with Tom Friedman.
I like reading what people bought from your port hole. I buy stuff through your port hole. I like the naming of a single profit example now and then. What say, an entire accounting of profits to date? Precedent has been set I think? It would be transparent? It's a crass, crass world. Do I overstep the bounds here?
Damn, my knotted wire cup and grinder didn't make it. Not sexy enough I guess. Well two good causes, a few shekels to Althouse, and a tool to help get the rust of the Delta DJ-20 jointer I am restoring for my woodshop.
I need to print some public domain books to hard copy.
Someone who knows, please recommend the right paper for this.
(I tried some cheapo copy paper as a test, and it was a no go.)
Are commenters going to be divided into "makers" and "takers"?
I think it was better when we didn't know... Meade is almost "rubbing it in our face" that amazon is subsidizing the household. Somethings are better as a mystery.
Just my 2 cents

I won't make a critical comment anonymous
"There are 47 percent of the commenters who will support for this blog no matter what...who are dependent upon this blog, who believe that they are victims. ...These are people who pay proceeds through Amazon. ...and so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for the integrity of their opinions."
Freeman Hunt: 25% cotton or better.

Keep trying.
Keep trying.
No thanks. I think that was quite good enough - for now.
There are 97% of Althouse readers who want and try to support the blog. All right, there are 3% of Althouse readers who believe government is the answer to everyone's problems, who believe that they are victims, who believe the Althouse blog has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it, to commenting, snarking, trolling, to always having the Althouse blog. That it's an entitlement. And Althouse should give it to them and Althouse and Meade should give it to them. And they will take this blog no matter what and use it as a stage to express themselves to gain negative attention to feed their own peculiar narcissistic needs ... These are people who contribute little. They evade taxes and contribute little if anything. They are part of the forty-some percent of Americans who pay no Federal income tax. So our message of contributing through the Amazon Associates portal doesn't connect. They resent those who are creative, who have worked hard, saved, and who they perceive to have more than they do. I mean, why worry about those readers? Even if she wanted to try, Althouse will never convince them that they should take a little responsibility and try to leave the blog in a little better shape than they found it. Actually, they aren't even 3 percent. They are just 3. Plain 3.
And, coincidentally, the 3 of them voted for Obama last November. They helped him get reelected, even knowing, after 4 painful years, exactly what he is all about. Yes -- they are takers. They ask not what they can make and give and do for their country and communities but what their governments and communities can give that they can take. They are major, major takers.
And Althouse should give it to them and Althouse and Meade should give it to them.
Ann's contributions are interesting enough to dissect and - every now and then - agree with or even celebrate.
Yours, OTOH, are more like Yoko Ono's voice dubbed over onto a Beatles track. Lol.
Have a sense of humor, dude. We non-narcissicists aren't supposed to have such thin, skins, remember?
In any event, thanks for lumping me in with such citizens as the military - a good proportion of "the 47%" (TM). That's a huge honor.
What if some clever hackers were to find a way to get into the Amazon accounts of, say, Bill Gates, or George Soros, or Warren Buffett? Probably they don't buy their yachts and planets on Amazon, but if they do, then those hackers could make Meadehouse rich like California!
Meade, I'll bet you one purchase through the Althouse Amazon portal that Ann will at least chuckle, if not smirk or guffaw outright at the idea of you being the Ono to her Lennon.
In any event, I find it amusing to be told that I don't contribute to the public interest by someone supporting those who hate the very idea of such a thing as the public interest. Very twisty and convoluted!
If the next photos posted of Meade in a garden consist of you pruning trees in a public park, instead of those on the Meadehouse Estate, I will personally donate an equivalent investment of time or money to the neutral public interest project of your choosing.
But I'm touched that you think I'm enough of a Randian capitalist to not do so anyway! That must be a high honor to the Randians!
Gawd Ritmo
You are such a tool.
Ritmo rules!! Always remember, these crass Amazon posts are what started Bloody Sunday.
And, where's New Media Meade. I think he should go to the southside of Chicago and report on the nightly homicides.
Thanks, nd. Your stuff is good, too.
Meadesey didn't answer last night's softball challenges. So methinks he definitely fancies himself too good for a public works project as nitty gritty as the one you suggest.
And where would we be without wyo? It's funny being called a "tool" by someone modeling her online personal after a toy.
I think I figured out the paper problem. I used inkjet paper in the new laser printer. Rookie mistake.
