I gotta say I like this series, Meade. You are boldly jumping in with honesty in marketing here. It's refreshing, and the products you choose to highlight are interesting.
Nice. Thanks, Bob.
Is the maximum amount you can get $25 per item?
Depends on the category, MadMan
There's more money to be made in posting pics of cute puppies than in memorizing Blackstone. There's much to be learned from a law professor.
No offense, but they way overpaid for that Procurve switch. Call me!
Those >$1500 switches should have brought you more than $25! But thanks for the answer. This monetizing of clicks is interesting to me (They do it at my wife's place of employment also).
Ann
I find your shilling for Amazon off-putting and in bad taste.
Don't you make enough as a law prof to cover your blogging expenses?

When you do something other people enjoy for free, it's nice to get a tip once in a while. Plus it allows the readers to contribute financially without spending any more money on things than they normally would. Try it - I'll bet Amazon has a replacement monocle for the one that just popped out of your peeper and smashed on the ground.
Garage, the hair do is awesome.
I'm beginning to take it personally that my Amazon purchases never make the cut. ;-)
You're doing a heck of blog Brownie.

@ Garage
Back in 69, in college I dated a guy with just that hairdo. Those were the days.
That's not really me in the picture!
khesanh0802,
You'll notice it's my shilling, not hers. So blame me for whatever bad taste you perceive. Yes, she makes enough as a law prof.
But I don't.
Thanks.
You may make all the excuses you wish. If you need the money ask us to subscribe that's the honest thing.
To the farmer: Rather than think about what I said and argue against it you immediately leap to a snarky ad hominem. That's one of the real weaknesses of the commentariat and you have exhibited it almost like a knee jerk reaction.
To Mead: Your name is not on the blog. Ann's is. In the real world those who allow their names to be used should be prepared to take responsibility for what follows their name.
khesanh0802 re: Farmer: "you immediately leap to a snarky ad hominem."
When, in actuality, The Farmer's first point was: "When you do something other people enjoy for free, it's nice to get a tip once in a while."
And his second point was: "it allows the readers to contribute financially without spending any more money on things than they normally would."
It's not until his third and final point that he gets to the well deserved snark for the reincarneated Hyacinth Bucket. Simply off-putting, old chap. Hrumph, hrumph! Somebody needs to do something about all these hooligans running roughshod over our once gentle internet-word-thingy making up whatever damnfool rules they want. Quick organize a committee to stamp out capitalist turpitude.
And it's Meade, with an "e".
Maroon.

Here's the thing. No one needs to feel bad if they never use the Althouse Amazon portal. And within limits, of wide tolerance, I might add, everyone is welcome to read and comment here. Dissenting opinions are valued.
There are no "subscriptions". It's all a labor of love. Contribute in any way you choose. Or don't.
If it's in bad taste for us to express our appreciation to -- and encourage -- those who do contribute, then sue us for offending your better taste.
But not in court. Please. Do it here. No need to bring in the lawyers.
MeadE
I am sorry but I feel that your commercialism detracts from the quality of Ann's work. That's my opinion and I'll stick with it.
I guess I owe the Farmer an apology for ignoring his substantive comments prior to his snarky one.
I don't understand why many commenters on all blogs find it necessary to be rude, but that seems to be the nature of the beast. I know they would never be so rude in a face to face conversation. Why here?
So returning the favor to Cold Pizza -up yours!
I enjoy the sales reports. I am thinking of really interesting things to buy so I can make the purchase of the day highlight. I need to be original and interesting. It's a competition.
Khesasanwtf: go fuck yourself.
That's the spirit, KY!

Well now that isn't necessary. But, if you do, and if you need to purchase any tools or equipment, please consider using the Althouse Amazon portal. We'll receive a modest commission. At no additional expense to you!

I like the sales reports too. It is a refreshing change from the way Insty does it. He gets every other purchase, but he's not as inventive as Meade.
Although when my purchase came up I laughed out loud because it was such a funny conclusion to the comedy of errors that produced the purchase in the first place.
@khesanh0802
You sauntered over here and accused Althouse of bad taste and inquired as to how much she earns at her job, and you want to accuse me of rudeness?
