Is it still dark month? Are you still rising at dawn to get every last ray?

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

We're definitely out of dark month, and the light increases at a good rate each day now. Very stimulating!

A very evocative pic, Madame.

I've always felt nothing says "end of day" like midwinter or midsummer (the great red ball of heat and humidity in the sky).

I know, weird...

PS As I've said, pm, this thing ain't goin' away.

I believe somebody mentioned Les Paul earlier... yesterday... I cant remember.

Dark Eyes... or as I prefer 'Lustreless Eyes'.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

It was yesterday, Lem.

Somebody wished me sweet dreams of Les Paul guitars.

Trouble is, I'm a Fender Stratocaster guy!

I like the funky, gut-bucket Chicago sound. That's what I grew up with!

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

The annoying reality of my existence is that, when it comes working, everybody wants me to play keys.

When the audition notice goes out, several million guitar players show up, but only one keyboard player.

Fortunately, I get to play guitar in the Old Dawgz!

Aaaaack...that's my winter blues talking.

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

That's the guitar that was heard around the world (as it were) the night Bob Dylan chose it for his electrical debut.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Dylan grew up a Chicago blues fan, too.

We get two more minutes of sun each day now.

Althouse was talking about electrical instruments... how her dad believed that anything plugged in could not possibly be musical.

The Purist... they will always be among us.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Chicago blues guys started plugging in right after WWII.

Elmore James was one of the first. One of my big heroes. Wrote "The Sky is Crying," which might be the greatest blues song ever written.

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

Eric Clapton plays it too.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Elmore James also wrote "It Hurts Me Too," which might be the most heart breaking blues song ever written.

When things go wrong
Go wrong with you
It hurts me too

J.S. Bach's pipe organ was mechanical rather than electric, but the connection of hands to flues and reeds is certainly more indirect than that of the lungs to lips of his soloists.

sakredkow म्हणाले...

I'll see if I can't find an Elmore James cd around here. I don't think I listened to it but once or twice.

And, SRV is playing a Strat, too!

Maybe there is one Fender in here, or maybe not.. but I like this song..

Only 30 years for making a false statement on a loan application is cruel to us good folks who don't lie for loans.

I want Obamaboarding (like waterboarding but okay and cool like Obama) and castration mandatory for even thinking of making a false statement on a loan application.

We don't live in the dark ages after all.

We talked abou flu shots a while back. I got my flu shot this year, but I was one of those unlucky people who got Type A flu anyway. Worst illness of my life. I am now on day three.and starting to feel better. The entire family is on Tamiflu. Yesterday, when I became confused and out of breath, I got to ride to the hospital in an ambulance. I was able to leave a few hours later.

Even though I got the flu, I am now even more ardently pro flu dhot. Yes, the flu can be that bad even in a relatively young, healthy person.

Side note: Did you know that if you can't catch your breath and start hyperventilating, you will lose feeling in your legs and hands, and they will start to cramp, which you will not feel but see? I did not know this, but I think it is a good thing to know as otherwise the loss of feeling and cramping are a bit frightening.

Me too. I got real tired real quick of people telling me how much worse it would've been if I hadn't gotten the shot. Took about 8-9 days to get over it.

@Freeman Scary! Get well soon.

This is good.. YOUTUBE LINK Obama is sitting there and thinking if only I can talk like that.............without the teleprompter.

pm317 म्हणाले...

OMG, that speech by Dr.Carson at the video link is so good that I bet Obama is going to steal those lines for his next speech. I bet my last dollar on it.

pm317 म्हणाले...

@22 he is talking about healthcare and does not mention Obamacare. Good for him.. he is 'lecturing' Obama on all the stuff that he is not and can't be -- quite easy to do that as you see the good doctor doing it so smoothly. I recommend the video and it is fun to watch Obama's face.

Thanks for the link to the speech by Dr. Carson. IMO you can tell when Obama is irritated by what is said by watching the tilt of his head. He does that nose in the air thing whenever he is pissed. Obama also does not clap during the speech as the audience does and one time you can notice the Michelle claps but O does not. I think this speech was a total affront to Obama the person. The biggest being you can't blame someone for your own problems - never make excuse were the words used. How many times in the last 4+ years have we heard it is someone else's fault? for anything and everything!
