Racist, sexist graffiti in the new World Trade Center bathrooms.

Port Authority police are now investigating. Who wrote these things? The construction workers?
“Such slurs are offensive and have no place at the World Trade Center site or elsewhere,” PA spokeswoman Lisa MacSpadden said. “The Port Authority has zero tolerance for those who demonstrate intolerance.”
The construction company said it has an anti-vandalism policy which it would "reiterate" to its crews.
Hardhats who toil on the site said the foul writing on the walls is a fact of life at all job sites — and there’s not much anyone can do about it.

Black construction workers, victims of some of the most repugnant scrawls, were furious but said they don’t dare complain when they see the N-word.
“You ask any black person on the job, and they’ll say, ‘What can you do about it?’ ” said an outraged Tyson Patterson, 35, of the Bronx. “You talk and you get fired. I have to be political and pretend it doesn’t bother me.”

They forgot "lame" in the headline.

Interesting. My experience has been that my black friends use the N-word a lot more than the white people I know.

YMMV.

PS - There was a great headline on Techcrunch yesterday about the porn clip that Vine put on the top of a zillion's people feed: Shocking - Porn on the Internet! So my first reaction was: Stupid stuff on mens bathroom walls!

I Have Misplaced My Pants म्हणाले...

Wait, construction workers are shrinking violets at stupid, crude speech now?

The end is truly nigh.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Newsflash some people are stupid and others are outraged.

Oh, my God! Oh, my God!

It's the end of the world!

They oughta find a bunch of fey actors and diversity activists to climb up there and lay down the steel.

AllenS म्हणाले...

Wait a minute. Are these union people?

CWJ म्हणाले...

Crude graffiti in bathrooms? I've never heard of such a thing. Say it ain't so!

Where are my clutching pearls? Where's the fainting couch?

MayBee म्हणाले...

That looks like its about some union action.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Of course, we've got to consider the possible culprits.

Could be:

1. Black guys looking for sympathy and traction on the job.
2. Diversity scam artists hoping to land a contract for inflicting re-education classes on the steel workers.

Fake hate "crimes" have been sprouting like weeds for the past 20 years.

just paint it over or sandblast it off. the more attention to call to it, the more you reward those who create such graffiti.

That's right, sucker. You keep paying those union dues, voting for Democrats and shut the fuck up!

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Can I be crude?

Ex-Lax brownies and diuretics for everyone! That way, there's no sitting around waiting for the inevitable. I'm guessing most of the graffiti writing is happening before the deed. No one sits around writing afterwards. You get up and go after you've sat down and gone.

Colonel Angus म्हणाले...

I thought construction workers were of a bit heartier stock.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

By the way, white blue collar guys in NYC have damned good reason to be pissed off and resentful.

The city has dumbed down the firefighter test so that everybody passes, thus allowing the city to pick new firefighters according to racial and sexual quotas. And, this is true for all kinds of blue collar jobs.

When the firefighter tests actually measured something, the white guys got all the jobs.

So, yes, white blue collar guys are getting screwed over with a vengeance in NYC. They're supposed to be taking it up the ass for the greater good of gays, women and blacks. Maybe, Mexican illegals, too.

Only the racist terms would be considered hate speech if this were to go to a bias crime vandalism charge. The sexist ones quietly don't get counted in enforcement, thanks to the political desires and sharp elbows of the hate crimes industry.

Unless the words are directed at lesbians or transgendered people, that is. Then a "bitch" or "slut" or "c***" counts.

Too many of 'em, as Clinton put it in 1999, referring to acts of so-called "hate" against women.

Counting women would dilute the laws and "distract" from the hate crimes mission, said the ADL.

Of course, NO speech should be reacted to this way. It's ridiculous to write a story about graffiti at a construction site, let alone investigate it as a serious crime. But the act of picking and choosing among biases is evidence of the real mission and thus important information.

It's important to understand the economics and politics of outrage, because the real mission is to create a justice system in which every decision is based on the identity of the perpetrators and the victims, or rather the victim groups and perpetrator groups.

It's about turning justice into a manipulable, never-ending drama of villains and victims. And we're getting closer to that reality every day.

lol. And the anti-free speechers march on...

No one must be allowed to insult blacks, gays, or women! They are made of glass, comrade! See how they've never accomplished anything in human history? They have too low self-esteem!

Seig Heil, Mein Obama!

Some slurs are funnier than others.

Bryan C म्हणाले...

Seems like the slurs are much more equal-opportunity than most. Though the classic white ethnic slurs are underrepresented, sadly a diversity problem in bathrooms all across the nation. Even so, this frank exchange of views gives me hope for a brighter future.

Jay Vogt म्हणाले...

Interesting sociology experiment in the making here; quantity the number of slurs per 100k sf of commercial construction in lower manhattan vs. other cities such as Atlanta, Dallas, St. Louis, Seattle, and Los Angeles.

What are they investigating and why? Do they really think they can make an arrest and get a conviction? Wasting tax money for publicity. Typical.
