"Kim is an Armenian and famous in the world, so this is enough for every Armenian to be proud of Kim. But because of cultural and traditional issues, they do not want to accept that she is an Armenian," [says BBC monitoring journalist Armen Shahbazian].Deep into this article we get to some comparative material about what the people of Gibraltar think about fashion designer John Galliano and what the people of the Isle of Man think of Dan Quayle, who — "was internationally ridiculed when it appeared he could not spell the word 'potato.'"
Stories about Kardashian are frequently a topic for comedy programmes, he says.
"They always compare the Armenian French singer Charles Aznavour, who they are proud of, with Kim Kardashian, who is seen in a more negative light. They don't want her to present their country," he says.

Who knew the Isle of Man was in Indiana?
What do Americans think of Kim Kardashian?
Charles Aznavour
Complete and total otaku tangent here -- Aznavour is, I believe, the inspiration for the Char Aznable, the name of the sometimes-villain, sometimes-hero masked man of the original Gundam cartoon series back in the 70s. He's still a popular character (e.g. the Japanese fellow who was going to go to the ISS as a tourist wanted to cosplay as Char while he was up there). Anyhow, rendered in Japanese, Charles Aznavour (pronounced in the French style) comes out roughly equivalent to Char Aznable. I had never realised Aznavour was Armenian.
It puts the decision to name one of the kind-of-villains in one of the later knock-off Gundam series "Athrun," which in Japanese was Asuran = Aslan, an Armenian name, in a different light. As in, might it have been intentional? (Mostly they just pick random combinations of letters for names). I forget whether they ever had him put on the mask, though.

Quayle was Manx. We used to have a Manx cat... no tail. Imagine going to all the trouble to take in a cat and not getting a tail. A tail is the least troublesome part of the cat.
Bruce Jenner's crappy cosmetic surgery is a disgrace to all Olympic track-and-field athletes.
Gibraltar potatoe famine.
More interesting: how do people outside the US feel about famous Americans of their same heritage. Like we know how Kenyans feel about Obama. (Or do we?) Are they more proud of people who are actually from their country, their circumstances, than some foreigner whose ancestors won the lottery?
Also more interesting: Does a person's answer depend on who's asking the question? Like if some british accent calls you up an asks a question about an American, are you more likely to say something disparaging? Less likely to admit a liking?
Lastly: how do the people of the Isle of Man spell potato? Did Quayle temporarily lapse into his sacred linguistic heritage spelling?
I am also Manx.
Probably - no, certainly - related to Quayle.
But my Manx ancestors came to America after living one generation in Liverpool.
If you know anything about Mormon history, identifying my Great-grandfather would now be a no-brainer.
"How do Armenians feel about her fame?"
If it's anything like how Americans feel, it's probably a giant sense of "WTF?".
My ex-boyfriend is Armenian. It's amazing how one bad personal relationship can sour one's opinion of an entire country.
How do Armenians feel about her fame?"
The same as any other nationality if they had one of her to represent them. Why pick on Armenians?
Armenians get the same look, when hearing/talking about Kim, as her father did when O.J. was found not guilty.
WTH, Priceless.
I'm sure Armenians regard her as the Secretary does the Mission: Impossible guys.
She's only half Armenian.
Peter
They are proud of her until they realize that she fucks black guys. It's all downhill from there.
Bingo, Methadras! Personally I agree with them, but then I'm not "evolved."
It must make the sluts proud as well.

Kim who?
You see frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
You think Kim is bad.
You should check out "The Shahs of Sunset" on Bravo.
If Dinnerjacket ever catches that on Demand they are going to nuke us the next day. Just sayn'
In the Racial Olympics does Ireland or Armenia get Kim Kardashian?
Why the focus on her father's identity and not her mother's?
It took me awhile to realize this was our next "A"
I have only known one Armenian and that was a long time ago. She hated Turks although she had never met one. She thought William Saroyan was a great writer although she had never read any of his books. She knew that Jean Simmons was actually of Armenian and not British descent. I forget what generation she was, but she thought that being Armenian was a big part of who she was....She was very pretty and intense but had a lot of hair on her upper lip. I don't know if facial hair is widespread among Armenian girls, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised.
Are all Armenian women talent less with three ax handle wide asses?
Manx? Not just a cat. Isle of Man? Not just an island with cats and sheep.
The Norton Manx or Manx Norton is a British racing motorcycle that was made from 1947 to 1962 by Norton Motors Ltd. A Norton had contested every Isle of Man TT race from the inaugural 1907 event through into the 1970s, a feat unrivalled by any other manufacturer, and the development and honing of the Manx racing motorcycle was another step in this racing achievement.
So that's what the Q stands for? This is the first I've heard that.
Come to think of it, I don't have a tail either.
When sister Khloe's husband Lamar Odom was a free agent there was all this "stress" about how he might have to play basketball in Turkey. Well that was just the crown jewell of the fake Kardashian Armenian victimhood play.
Their father was friends with (and represented) a wife abusing/wife murdering O.J. Simpson. Great legacy that.
