You look fetching in the skirt (although, when I showed you in it to The Blonde, she couldn't see the practicality of it (she's big into practicality) for skiing).
PS I remember you wearing a helmet year before last after you'd taken a header. You don't need it anymore?
Mason Crosby got a huge sarcastic [Bronx?] cheer from the Lambeau faithful for a 28 yarder he made this afternoon. Then he doinked one in off the crossbar later that counted. Everyone in the crowd and on the Packer bench was laughing realizing they probably don't even need him.
You can't walk too fast in snow, but that said, I can't ski very fast. I'm only proud of being able to do it at all and not fall down. I'm not athletic and I'm over 60.
Professor. Xcountry skiing is excellent all around but really good for balance something that thise of us over sixty should work on with diligence. You have good form on the skis. Keep it up. I wish I lived where I could ski regularly part of the year.
I tried skiing once, back when Jimmy Carter was President. On the bunny slopes they teach you the "snowplow" method of stopping. I discovered that that doesn't work on the intermediate slope, a problem which was easy enough to remedy: I simply turned until I was skiing uphill and came to a smooth stop.
Got all my kids into downhill skiing. The little tyke (my youngest daughter) switched to the snowboard. "I ride dad, I don't ski". She became so skilled, the local ski area asked her to teach it.
I gave it up. At 61, my knees are too important. Rather play competitive volleyball.
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Too bad I couldn't get out - I spent the day baking bretzlen for the two upcoming family celebrations.
Speaking of cameras, though...my youngest sister had dvd's made of our old family movies. What a trip - that very first Christmas, 52 years ago and those plaid pants of 1973!
"Ann: learn how to skate ski. Much faster. I'm over 60 too!"
It's not like I'm skiing away from attackers. As I've said, I'm not athletic, and the way that is experienced, internally, is that I'm not urged on by any feeling of needing to do more and more. Sometimes I try, just because theoretically, I can conceive of the need to go faster. It only works a little.
As for the hills of this part of Wisconsin, many of them are too scary for me as a cross-country skier, particularly if others have wrecked the tracks, as often happens. They have ways of slowing down that break out of the tracks, and going downhill without tracks is just too intimidating for me. I have done it, but only because I was unable to stop when the tracks ran out. If I can see the tracks are obliterated on a hill, I will take off my skis and walk down.
The place you see in this video, Odana Hills, is, in fact, a public golf course. As a ski trail, it is listed as "easy."
There are plenty of harder places around here, and I'm simply not good enough to use them. Many are very pretty, in the woods, with curving downhills. But I cannot do a curving downhill with trees. It's just not safe.

No skirt?

Nice....
Tell Meade that Cincinnati beat the Steelers on a perfect pass from Dalton to Greene setting up a field goal with 4 seconds left.
If he doesn't believe you, tell him to check ESPN.
Good work, professor. It is clear that as you get more comfortablle your form improves, your knees bend more obviously and you speed up!
Packers roll in a huge way, reminding me of the way they abused the Falcons...back in 1966.

Someone tell me if you can walk faster on a solid surface than cross-country ski like Ann is doing. (No ? mark per AA instructions.)

I'm impressed, Althouse!
When I first stopped in here, your idea of exercise was lifting your coffee cup at the local cafe'.
Now look at you!
Getting all decked out for your hubby and "workin' it, ON CAMERA!" over MUCH .. rougher terrain.
Brrrrrrrr!
There are hills in Wisconsin? What are they, like, 200 feet above sea level? Watch out for nosebleeds!

The downhill skiing in Wisconsin just doesn't look that good.

Much less stressful to watch someone skiing in pants what with the possibility of going all hinder-over-teakettle and all.
Tell Meade to wear the helmet cam when you two eat dinner.

It sounds like you enjoy thinking of such visuals. The problem there is:
1. The video is edited. This isn't a live feed.
2. One wears leggings under the long skirt. It would be awfully cold otherwise. The truth is, I put the skirt on to have an extra layer, for warmth.
I've never done downhill skiing.

You found me out! I'm just jealous cuz that's not such a great option for us boys."
Whew! For a moment I thought that said "Obama" Hills.
