I don't.

This year the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of 80 or so mostly freelance writers, announced its picks just four days before the unusually early onset of Oscar voting. So an armful of Globes nominations will without question put momentum behind certain Academy Award hopefuls.

Talk about the tail wagging the dog, and dogs that want to be fashionably wagged.

Lincoln should win an Oscar as the Constitutional Law movie of the year.

Time was, the globes were a joke in Hollyweird, then TV needed stuff to fill an evening and their obsession with any and all awards shows began.

PS I wonder if Django did well because of Jamie Foxx showing us what a racist he is.

If I don't care,
Are they not there?

I thought Argo and Moonlight Kingdom were good.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

I saw "Moonlight Kingdom." It was on pay per view, on TV.

It was reasonably okay.

Yeah for Connie Britton and Hayden P. Nashville is a really good show, but like people who thought Friday Night Lights was just about football, I think people who don't like country music aren't tuning in.

I just emailed Al Queda with the date and location.

lol.

....Too soon?

Have already seen Cloud Atlas twice in the theatre. That alone should justify at least half a dozen nominations. Bae Du Na says past lives and reincarnation are a piece of cake when you grow up Buddhist, but portraying a clone convincingly is a bit tricky.

Despite all the naysaying about how all the movies these days are crap, there are actually some pretty good ones nominated. Of the ten best picture nominees, I saw Argo, Life of Pi, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Silver Linings Playbook, and they were all pretty good. If you haven't seen Argo or Silver Linings Playbook and they are still showing where you are, they are definitely worth seeing.

The key word for Moonrise Kingdom was "quirky." It was a very interesting film in terms of the camera angles and the way it was shot. The characters and the plot were very, very quirky. It was one of those movies that you either lover or hate; not much middle ground.

That's that boxing thing, right?

Oh, nevermind.
