The 10-year old boy "is no different than any other murderer" and "would have shot his father if he was a member of the Peace and Freedom Party."

Said the prosecutor in his opening statement of the trial of a boy who shot his neo-Nazi father.
But Public Defender Matthew Hardy said the boy, who had learning disabilities, pulled the trigger after being manipulated to kill Hall by his stepmother, Krista F. McCary. Hardy portrayed her as angry over the possibility her husband was about to leave her for another woman.

"We are not going to suggest she killed him," Hardy told the judge. "She used this young man to kill him."...

The boy thought he would become a "hero"....

Sometimes accepting responsibility for others involves being willing to take on guilt, trusting that God will forgive.

That's what Dietrich Bonhoeffer said at least (paraphrased). Then he was hanged for his participation in the plot to assassinate Hitler.

Wouldn't want to be on that jury...

The 10-year-old son... was just another killer when he shot his sleeping father on the couch on an early May morning last year... after being manipulated to kill Hall by his stepmother... angry over the possibility her husband was about to leave her for another woman... While on a backyard swing set the day before, the defendant told one of his sisters about the plan, Soccio said.

The End

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...

When this first came out in the news, back when he was arrested, there was a lot more detail about what a horrible man the father was. Very, very abusive.

The kid made a good decision. That is the ultimate decision when dealing with a Nazi...do I kill him or allow him to kill everyone including me?

There are no third options.

I've always been annoyed by the argument that it's "self-defense" when you shoot somebody who is sleeping.

And it's dumb for the prosecutor to say a 10-year-old "is no different than any other murderer."

He's a small child. Everybody on the jury can see that.

Are you prosecuting him as an adult? No, you're not. So he is different than other murderers.

Your opening argument ought to recognize that.

And it's smart of the public defender to blame the mother. Give the jury somebody else to blame.

If I was the prosecutor, I would have filed a pre-trial motion to keep out the Nazi stuff as irrelevant and highly prejudicial.

Looks like that neo-Nazi guy was pretty popular with the ladies.

It's so hard to imagine a 10-year-old being tried for this. Anyone with kids knows why.

Bender म्हणाले...

The fact that he is being tried as a juvenile, and not as an adult, puts the lie to the assertion that he "is no different than any other murderer."

Other murderers face life in prison if convicted, not detention until they are 23. And rightly so. At 10, people are too young to fully comprehend the gravity of their acts.

Wish he could get a foster family that is specialized for a child who has experienced trauma, so he could be loved.

Learning disabilities? Learning disabilities! I have dyslexia, it is a learning difficulty, not a cognitive deficit or mental retardation. What does a learning disability have to do with anything?

I'm amazed a shadow of a foreign political party that only lasted a few dozen years until being completely destroyed 70 years ago still brings out the crazy in otherwise rational people.

Do we know why the guy was a member of that political party, how much its doctrine adheres to the doctrine of the original, and how prepared members were to do anything besides go to meetings and annoy people with tiny protests?

The 20th century communists killed far more people than the Nazis, and yet everybody seems to accept CPUSA involvement in anti-war protests and such without implying their own children are justified in killing them in their sleep.

A ten year old boy is a better judge of men than many adult women. Millions of them are about to vote on just that subject.

Romney should hold a nationwide shoe sale on election day.

Alex...OK, if he is only thinking he is a Nazi like he is Superman or a Star Wars character, than he is not a Nazi. He is mentally ill.

But if he claims that he is a real Nazi and is willing to act on it, then a wise man will show no quarter. Destroy him first, or he will destroy you with great pleasure.
