The movement of his eyes back and forth sounded like sandpaper on wood.

He heard his heart pounding, all the sounds of his own body. It tormented him for 10 years, but it was caused by something specific, and there was a surgical treatment.

But what created the condition of the hole?

How could you fall asleep with all that racket?

Jimmy Carter's grandson had that..

Doctors called it, superior peep syndrome.

He could hear Mitt Romney fundraising specially well.

A fascinating thing, to be sure.

I don't doubt somebody will want to catalog his impressions.

Uh...this sounds like bullshit.

Pffft, that's nothing. If he had synesthasia like I do, then he wouldn't have a single cure or drug he could take to fix it. What a weakling. Oh yeah, eat that chocolate cake and see spinning silver tetrahedrons with spikes on their surface while hearing the tingling of a triangle off in the distance that is coming from nowhere while you smell a weird combination of formaldehyde and oranges as your kneecaps feel prickly all at the same time and then come back to me like you have a problem.

I love the miracles that doctors perform for people, and consequently I'm often in awe of them. Lawyers do some great works too. Like a lot of people, I have a mostly bad opinion of lawyers. Lets get some similar feel good stories on that profession once in a while. Althouse, don't worry, it's not self promoting if I ask you to do it.

Methadras,
They said "Don't take the brown acid".

There is a big stink in California about public employee salaries right now, including State college salaries. Who has the biggest paycheck in the state? The UCLA surgeon that did my transplant - worth every penny of the $2 Million he gets. My case alone will likely cost my insurance close to 3/4 of million by the time I fail at aviation. The longer I live the more it cost. I'm trying to save them money.

The surgery alone was about $380K. I wonder how much he got of that.

I would have guessed that clicking sound your hear when a ventriloquist dummy moves his eyes side to side.

Might wanna get that dry eye checked out, man.

I was watching a Nova show on PBS yesterday about the mind or brain or something and part of it was about a guy who studies synethasia. One of the specific things they talked about was some people who see numbers and letters as specific colors. Even when shown black and white movies they see the numbers in color, each number with its own specific color.

Not a dry eye in the house.

As long as I can remember, I've always seen numbers in my head as crooked staircase. Zero at the lower left, negative numbers going down into the darkness, positives going up to the right with the first step at 10, then each 10 is another step riser with the numbers in between going mostly horizontal to the next 10. Then at 100 they start going up stars to the left into the cloudy sky.

Yea, I did the brown acid too. Jefferson Airplane was cosmic.

Not me. I hear powers of 2 expressed as cosmic truths of increasing orders of magnitude. Above 64 I become paralyzed by the suffusion of supernal bliss aroused by the numinous concepts of eternity. Negative numbers I dare not contemplate. I'm applying for Social Security disability based on this condition.

Well, you might synesthetic too. It's genetic and a (un)lucky twist on how your sensory pathways cross-over and interact with each other.
