If you try to catch up on sleep over the weekend...

... you will only make it worse.

I don't think it matters to me, what I do on the weekend, Mondays feel the same. Therefore I'll get up when I'm ready, which isn't at 6:30 am on Sat or Sun.

So I should thank my family for keeping me from my Saturday nap.

Now I've heard sleep scientists say you can build up a "sleep debt" and you do need to pay it off.

I'm running up against my sleep debt ceiling.

The absurdity is assuming you've established a clear cycle of sleep. Plus this contradicts previous studies.

It's also annoying to have "a study" become the standard and myth breaking. Perhaps the study is valid but until it's replicated in a true double-blind manner, it's only a "maybe".

Moreover, studies where scientists lived in isolation in deep caves without any reference to actual time of day, they found that the natural circadian rhythm is 25 hours, not 24. The theory is that it's easy to shorten the normal rhythm than lengthen it. Point also being that the quoted scientist in the article saying that the natural rhythm is 24 hours is either a misquote, or the man is taking great liberties with the known science (likely to grind his own axe of pet theories.)

And what about studies that find naps are beneficial and, for some people, sleeping the night in two cycles?
