"Ima hit president Obama with that Lee Harvey Oswald swag"...His last tweet before the Secret Service showed up was “Smoking a L as I wait on my Chinese Food.” According to the Secret Service report, Donte Jamar Sims, 21, smiled when they read him those tweets.
“Well Ima Assassinate president Obama this evening !...Gotta get this monkey off my chest while he's in town -_-.” Another message claimed that the Secret Service “is gonna be defenseless once I aim the Assault Rifle at Barack’s Forehead… F* the #DNC.”
When a Twitter follower asked, “U serious??” in response to one of the Obama threats, Sims replied, “as a Heart Attack.”...

Twitter makes you stupid.
Twitter makes you stupid.
If Lee Harvey Oswald had had Twitter, we might still have JFK.
Good to know the Secret Service is doing its job.
Oh thank God the Secret Service tracked him down. No doubt he would have thwarted all the security measures and attained his goal...
And I'm certain it's only a matter of time the authorities track down that DNC delegate that wanted to kill Romney
A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?
His best defense would be to join the New Black Panther Party.
Rehajin: Last I heard, Secret Service was on the case for the threat against Romney (along with the alleged theft of his tax records.) The Secret Service was something of a joke with Hookergate and letting one of their vans get stolen, but I think they're really trying to regain face.

That's so cute. Bless your heart
A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?
Sure, since it is so difficult to check people for assault rifles as they enter the stadium.
I'd bet good money this person doesn't even own a gun, most gun owners wouldn't use the meaningless political term assault rifle
"A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?"
-- Doubtful. The tweets came out on 9/3, on 9/4 they were still saying outside, rain or shine. The decision came on 9/5; per the story, (9/6) the guy was apprehended on "yesterday" (meaning 9/5, hint news writers: This is why you use dates! Yesterday and tomorrow change!) Unless there were other threats we don't know about, security was not the concern.
(Though, I only read the article briefly, so if I made a mistake there, correct me.)
Twitter was supposed to be the killer app that allowed for organization of Arab Spring, the real-time coordination of Occupy protests. The geniuses that made those claims forgot one thing- Twitter is public, and the opposition can see your every move...oops!

Yeah, that's a tough one ... the DNC delegate was speaking on national television....full face view, from 'da Bronx, NYC etc....should be hard to find. I've not heard of any arrest or detention yet.
Not expecting one either.
Ooh. I hadn't heard that part, just that a threat had been made.
Did they have chyron with the delegate's name and everything?
That's just embarrassing on the Secret Service if they've done nothing about it.
Who would have thought that the one guy in North Carolina who refers to Obama as "monkey" and threatens to kill him turns out to be a black guy.

Any excuse in a storm...
Ever notice that if you're not on Twitter, the only times you really hear about it are when someone gets into trouble for using it?
Another crazy guy acting alone? Unless he was white. Then the logical starting point is that he is a disgruntled Republican under the influence of imposing campaign graphics and uncivil political discourse emanating from right-wing sources.
Sorry, I forgot to add 'racist' as well. Natch.
I thought will.i.am was an Obama supporter!
And did he also Tweet that he was going to kill the president by beaming his magic death rays at him?
Peter: No. He was pretty clear his plan was rifle, not magic death rays. Which is why he got a visit; we couldn't be 100% sure he was a nutter.
I think these prosecutions are clearly unconstitutional under Brandenberg v. Ohio.
"(T)he constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action."
I do not think you can punish people for speech crimes, for expressing a bad thought or idea. You have to prove some sort of action, some sort of conspiracy.
I do not think this guy should be a felon and I think making a felony out of this is idiotic.

Yes, someone may have shot the telepromter and left the country leaderless.
Oh, I think a felony may be a bit much if he was just being stupid. But the Secret Service at least checking it out seems legit to me.
Somewhere Brian Ross is Googling "Donte Jamar Sims Tea Party".
A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?
Yes, because of the concern that Donte Javar Sims, 21, might have finished smoking his L and then stolen an airplane, or perhaps a zeppelin, and piloted it into the open air stadium.
According to the Secret Service report, Donte Jamar Sims, 21, smiled when they read him those tweets.
O.K., I take it back:
I guess it CAN get more obnoxious than this,…
A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?
*snicker*
Yeah, that's why they moved it.
Leave it up to some racist bigot in the South to threaten to assassinate Obama! Tea Partiers and all! Knew this was coming!
Oops. Went to the link. How do we explain this?
Well, there goes my initial assumption that this was some temporarily-free institutionalized cracker looking to get back to his racist prison gang homies in the coolest way possible.
Black stoner? What the hell, was it just free-floating psychosis, or was he pissed about the Obama continuation of the drug war or something?
Black-on-black violence makes a headline?
Wonder if this gets a bigger play than the Democrat delegate who wanted to kill the Romster.
/sarc
Donte Jamar. Who would have guessed.
Donte Jamar Sims...sounds like a typical Tea Party member.
this was some temporarily-free institutionalized cracker
More Choom Gang than Aryan Nation, turns out.
American racism is sure broad based.
Among the host of problems confronting the black "community" is the use of stupid names which are as helpful in the employment arena as facial tattoos.
So this Twitter thing lets you send out your thoughts instantly to everyone? Who the hell thought that was a good idea? It's the mental equivalent of streaking.
It's as stupid as commenting on a blog.
What is an "L"?
I'd bet good money this person doesn't even own a gun, most gun owners wouldn't use the meaningless political term assault rifle
Thank God some mobies are still willing to go to jail to keep up their deceit.

Name is a New York delegate Julia Rodriguez. The Secret Service spokesman says that they are "aware" of the threat....nothing about anything being done about it.
Crack....you cited our dear Jenny the Dim's speech. We in Michigan had 8 years listening to her drivel and twaddle. You have to understand that she makes Joe Biden look like a genius. Srsly.
She tried mightily to get a job in the Obama administration, however, Obama never got drunk enough to appoint her to anything...which is to his credit. Currently, she's one of the lead losers on Al gore's "Current TV."
ABC's Brian Ross, reporting from Charlotte:
“There’s a 'Donald J. Simpson' of Columbia, South Carolina, page on the South Carolina Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year,” said Ross. “Now, we don’t know if they're even the same person. But it's a Tea Party member in a state ending in 'Carolina'"
What is an "L"?
Crack.
Not the Emcee variety.
Linsdey: A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?
You're so cute, I wish I had a camera.
Bobby Kennedy was indoors.
New York delegate Julia Rodriguez
Is she going to smother him with pieces of flair?
Actually I take that back ... our would-be-Siran Squared was probably smoking a blunt.
Well, I just can't fathom the reality of someone who makes threats like against the President or other celebrities. It has to be some sort of strange mental illness. But what do you get out of that?
Actually I take that back ... our would-be-Siran Squared was probably smoking a blunt.
And I believed you when you told me it was crack. Folly.
But what do you get out of that?
Attention?
"Well, I just can't fathom the reality of someone who makes threats like against the President or other celebrities. It has to be some sort of strange mental illness. But what do you get out of that?" He gets to look edgy in front of his dope smoking friends. Plus he's a moron. My personal guess is he read Obama used to bogart and took it personally.
"A potential reason perhaps for moving the President's speech indoors with greater security?"
And if it was the exact same circumstance only it was Romney instead, would you still think that? If not, then no.
... he read Obama used to bogart ...
Another anti-social snot slobbering trait. Why am I not surprised?

A) Who said he was a moby? He sounds more like someone seeking attention / trying to sound tough.
B) Who said he was willing to go to jail? Reading the linked article, it sounded like the going to jail part was a surprise to him, even after the secret service showed up.
