"Feminism can be quite isolating because it is so stigmatized... It can be quite hard to tell people you don’t know that you’re a feminist, because of these persistent stereotypes — people think feminists are anti-men, are humorless, have to dress in a certain way — so the very act of coming together can be quite powerful."
The very act of coming together... Oh, my. That does suggests a headline-grabbing technique.
Now, don't get mad at me. You wanted to show you're not humorless.
I know: That's not funny.

So "feminist" is now an identity, like being gay?
Nothing confirms "Feminism can be quite isolating because it is so stigmatized... It can be quite hard to tell people you don’t know that you’re a feminist, because of these persistent stereotypes — people think feminists are anti-men, are humorless, have to dress in a certain way — so the very act of coming together can be quite powerful." than having budding feminist isolate themselves in a camp to confirm persistent stereotypes that feminists are anti-men, humorless, dress in easily identified and mockable ways, and cannot survive unless they come together for more power.

Yes, just like that, but without being gay, you know, happy.
I wonder what camp liberals go to learn that 20 million killed by Nazis > 100 million killed by Communists?
Feminists are spoiled brats.
Islamic women get gangraped and set on fire for showing too much ankle.
Meanwhile, American women get the vapors of because 21-century feminists are expected to be responsible for their own birth control.
And don't even get me started on their "just about sex" hypocrisy re Clinton.
Q: How many feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: 100. One to screw in the light bulb & 99 to write about how the bulb is exploiting the socket.
"Feminism can be quite isolating because it is so stigmatized..."
And they'll NEVER deal with why that is,...
Dear God, that much evil and lies propaganda hasn't been concentrated and trained in one place since the Ministry of Truth in 1984.
I hope these brain-dead little whores pick a fight with a rapper for mysogyny so we can watch Al Sharpton start a riot that kills 40 of them.
And Sharpton get off scot free, of course. Evil racism and all that.
@Young Hegelian:
Alternate versions:
Q: How many feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None; they need a man to do everything for them.
------------
Q: How many feminist women does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: It's womyn, you sexist pig; it's replace, you sexist pig; and none, because, in feminazi land, lightbulbs never break and are powered by a perpetual motion machine.
I'd just like to know the definition of "feminist" these days. It seems to be based entirely upon grievance, which seems a rather negative foundation for an identity. When I hear "feminist" I always think of an exchange between Walter Parks Thatcher and Charles Foster Kane in "Citizen Kane":
Thatcher:What would you like to have been?
Charles Foster Kane:Everything you hate.
If feminism is so stigmatized, maybe it isn't be cause people think they're anti-men and humorless.
Maybe it's because they are.
And when have feminists ever had a problem coming together?
Their problem is keeping quiet.
Thurber's _The War Between Men and Women_ (the cartoon series, not the film) is pretty accurate.
I don't see offhand a good online source.
Feminists are a paradox.
They would have you believe they speak for half the population while insisting on minority group status.
Only in America!
Where ax grinding has become an occupation.
Feminists are exclusive egalitarians. Tricky bitches.
A "virtual" occupation.
No real ax.
No grinding stone.
Just this never ending wearing down.
That some of us might think of as erosion of our very last nerve.
They want to train the Pussy Riot-ers of the future and they blanch at the idea of upskirting?
Hear me.
I don't object to special interest groups. That's American.
I object to the IMPRESSION of special interest groups.
The impression that "special interests" are somehow ABOVE caring about money...
Like those evil capitalists!
It's only about the "cause".
Cut me a break!
Penny is her own one-woman Pussy Riot.
Ha ha
"Ax Grinding" is just one more marker of American ingenuity.
My science teachers all explain what "theory" means (essentially, truth proven to the limit of human ability) but today my English teacher explained what "theory" meant. It's a way of seeing, she said, you've heard of "feminist theory" right? And all this was an example to explain that "discourse analysis" was a "theory".
According to discourse analysis, feminism using the word "theory" is a deliberate attempt to appropriate the feelings people have about science, that it's legitimate and tested and rational. So whatever your grievance community you call the study of it a "theory"... like "feminist theory."
But all it really means is that your "way of seeing" any event or circumstance is through the prejudices of your grievance community.
Sigh. Had to be there, I suppose.
I had to explain to her, today, that the "badness" of the word "fuck" had nothing to do with oppression by the powerful and everything to do with the way people chose swear words from which ever words happen to be transgressive in the culture. I haven't yet explained about the use of the word "theory" to describe prejudice.
I don't have the first idea what she actually thinks of "feminist theory" but she seems on board with "everything is about oppression by the powerful" theory.
Oh brother. I still remember back in college when I was talking to a feminist (I didn't know her politics, she just happens to live on the same floor ss one of my friends) and just casually mentioned my girl friend and then got the lecture about how its sexist to call my gf a "girl" because she's a woman.
I'm a masculinist.
Who wants to go to camp and do cool masculine things like chop wood and shoot woodland creatures?
Feminism can be quite isolating because it is so stigmatized... It can be quite hard to tell people you don’t know that you’re a feminist, because of these persistent stereotypes
Let's try to be serious. Feminism is isolating because the original goal of equality is universally supported and largely achieved. As a result self described feminists are reduced to whining about irrelevancies and arguing for favoritism.

You should have told her to stay away from my lady friend
Budding pussy rioters? Yeah, as long as they don't go to Moscow.
Now wimmin are so liberated, they affectionately call each other bitches.
"I'm a masculinist.

If men can be feminists then I can be a masculinist. Camping sounds dandy though at my age I at least want an out house, I chop wood like a girl but I'm certainly willing to try, and as long as the woodland creatures are furry and we eat them, we're golden. (I don't approve of killing the scaly sorts for sport.)
I want to know is who pays for this organisation and the camp. This will be a real indication on what it is about.
See here: "As well as providing lessons on how to occupy a public space during a protest, the summer camp aims to be an upbeat meeting place for a group of campaigners who still feel resented."
It seems that feminism is a cover up to a different agenda all together. Are British lefties organize for their 'occupy' spectacle?

Sorry, Synova ... you'll dig a latrine and piss standing up like all those good men cut down in the prime of their lives saving this godforsaken shitball from totalitarian assholes and jerkwad fascist tinpot dictators!!!
I'll have you know, EMD, that I've dug a latrine in the woods - but we built a seat out of branches and parachute cord and smoothed it out with very dull issued pocket knives and made "walls" around it, too, because none of us were silly enough to join the Army and do it the hard way.
I've also peed behind my share of trees and bushes without a seat (it's a trick). It's also a good way to get the poison ivy that was on the outside of your pants on the inside of your legs even when you know very well not to pee in the ivy. Lessons learned!
Except I did all that when I wasn't 48 next week and hadn't had four children sitting on my bladder.
I taxidermied a squirrel once, too.
Helped my dad castrate the piglets.
I am new person to this blog. This post looks nice.I wish you to post new updates regularly.

The second week of deer camp, is the greatest time of year!
They have to dress a certain way? Like giant dancing vaginas, maybe?
