and that one of them pinned her down while another sliced a cross into her chest, cut the front of her thighs and shins and carved derogatory words in her arms and abdomen. She said they then rolled her onto her stomach and cut her buttocks, the back of her thighs and the back of her right calf. She also said they tried to burn down her house.
If she did all of that to herself (or let someone else do it), and the article lays out some pretty clear evidence that she almost certainly did, that is a very intense form of crazy. One injury is pretty nuts, but at least imaginable. This is just amazing. I'm pretty shocked that the original story didn't make national news.
This is something some liberals do to be a catalyst for whatever their liberal cause. They apparently feel the end justifies the means. We've seen it before and we'll see again.
"Rogers said three masked men broke into her home..."
Zorro, Batman and the Lone Ranger.
Lyssa, Reading through a few of the original local stories, it looks like their was a strong suspision of falsehood, even from the LGBTIQ community. So little to no national coverage.
"Rogers, a lesbian who ranks second all-time in blocked shots for the Cornhuskers..."
Now, is that second place among all players, or second place among lesbians?
I am so goddamned sick of people identifying themselves by what they like to do with their genitals, and to whom.
I don't recall reading something like: "Their center, Bill Russel, a heterosexual with a thing for busty gingers, scored 25 points with 14 rebounds and 8 blocks..."
Gays are 1.8% of the population. It is too small a cohort to get the attention the cohort needs, requires. The straight part of the country, the 98.2 % does not spend ten seconds a day thinking about the 1.8%. That is a problem.
The rest of the story is this "happened" during the run up to a vote on a LGBT Fairness Ordinance in the Lincoln City Council, which passed ... and was then cancelled by a petition drive.
They all have to be victims, can't get anywhere on the merits.
You'd think this would be good news--there was no hate crime!--but you wouldn't know that reading Facebook. People sound disappointed that the story was not true.

It don't take a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowin' ;)
So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe people who fake crimes for attention and self aggrandisement are the some of the lowest form of filth.
Does she now get a co-host job at MSNBC with Al Sharpton?

just because the perp and the victim are one in the same doesn't mean it's not a hate crime.
Ah, yes, one of the most evil ideals that Plato expounded and the left uses as a core principle: the noble lie.
This happens so often that I just assume that any 'hate crime' is a hoax.

TM-fucking-I. I really don't want to know.
Geez, somebody broke into my brain and stole my spelling.
How do I get a letter added to LGBTIQ, by the way? Is there someone to whom I submit an application?

Especially lesbians, it seems. Lesbians aren't hated as much as the activist ones wish they were. How sad for them.
That city ordinance is obsolete anyway. It only applies to the letters LGB&T.
This is really getting to be an epidemic. I wonder of any of them ever read "The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf." I doubt ti.
She'd garner much more sympathy if she were Lebanese.
ends. means. justify. blahblah. move along. nothing to see here.
Wasn't there a post recently about a gay guy in Missoula who pulled a similar trick? Trend?

Where is Hat Tip to justify this behavior in the name of homoactivism.
