East or West, home is best.
Welcome home!

You guys drove all those miles and did not make it backstage?

I dont know.. let me guess.. Dylan doesn't see anybody after the show.

m stone म्हणाले...

Welcome Back.

Compare the two concerts?

Amartel म्हणाले...

Groupies!
Tour de Bob.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"You guys drove all those miles and did not make it backstage?"

We met some regular people... and we had all that time with each other... and with the landscapes.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Althouse commenter contest idea: rewrite the lyrics from "One Night in Bangkok" as "Last Night in Fargo."

Methadras म्हणाले...

Jesus, really? Dylan again. I'd wish he'd just drop dead already. On second thought, no. Let him live because you will pine for him if he did drop dead until you dropped dead. That would be worse. God help meade.

Wow, 4,000 miles in 12 days and you still like each other? If so you may have a longnterm relationship going. You even took along a bunch of snarky commenters.

Our family did something very similar with 4 children. When we weren't kicking the back of someone's seat and whining we actually had a pretty good time.

It's always great to get back home and have a long shower and sleep in your own bed.

Thanks for sharing some of your fun with us.

Thanks for sharing some of your fun with us.

I echo this. And beautiful photographs of the wild West, and that great photo of a smiling Bob.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Lots more pics to process and post.

edutcher म्हणाले...

Thank you, Madame, glad you're both home safe.

Right after we met, The Blonde and I drove from Philadelphia to Sarasota and then Orlando and back.

That's when I learned about her temper. Fortunately, she had the back seat full of apology cards.

So I know what you mean.

About the first thing I heard and plugged into when I became conscious at 11 or 12 was Bob Dylan.

Looking forward to the new album.

Irene म्हणाले...

Welcome home, Althouse and Meade!

We are glad you made it back safely, and we all are enjoying the Glacier Park shots.

12 days huh? Years ago when I was much younger and had little vacation, a buddy and me did a 3800 trip over thanksgiving. Left midnight Wed, got back around noon Sunday. good times.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"12 days huh?"

The time span was dictated by the 2 concerts. We could have squeezed Rapid City in between Missoula and Fargo, but we decided to put Glacier National Park in that space.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

First prize, no Dylan concerts. Second prize one Dylan Concert. Boobie prize..2 Dylan Concerts and some bad yogurt.

Penny म्हणाले...

"The time span was dictated by the 2 concerts."

That insight makes me like the two of you even more than I did before.

Musical interludes feed the soul.

Penny म्हणाले...

But I was wondering ... ?

And if this question is too personal, ignore it, as per usual ...

Did Althouse find herself falling into being comfortable with the silence of the road?

Penny म्हणाले...

Usually when we see clips of you and Meade on the road locally, you are nearly always making small talk of some sort, with Meade politely responding in way fewer words, but nevertheless, engaged in conversation.

Was it like that for the whole 12 days, or did you finally get comfortable with an easy, shared silence?

jimbino म्हणाले...

So, what we want to know is:

How many Amerikans of color (black, brown, red) did you see enjoying our White Country Club national parks and forests?

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Road Warriors applies.

Now it's time to start planning the next trip. I always found that as much fun as the trips.

Ann,

Did you know that a young Bobby Zimmerman played a few gigs in North Dakota as Bobby Vee's piano player? Dylan was then using the stage name of Elston Gunn. I think one of their gigs was in Fargo.

Love that you planned your trip around Dylan's tour dates. Also would enjoy hearing how the two concerts compared

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

We rode 15,000 miles on a motorcycle trip a few yeas ago. Crossing the Great Plains was one of the best parts of the ride.

The landscapes and earth forms in North Dakota are beautiful, elemental, sparse and complicated at the same time. I could easily spend a full summer following the back roads in North and South Dakota.

On my bucket list is a ride on Highway 2 from Michigan's upper penninsula west across the plains and Rockies to Seattle.
