"In an attack reminiscent of 'Cujo' four pit bulls attack Dodge minivan trying to get to cat hiding in fender."

The kitty cat survives and the car owner is the owner of the dogs, so it's pure entertainment.

It's not different from a dog digging out a mole. No craze is involved. It's an engrossing way to spend the time.

Somewhere I have a collapsed gutter downspout that once had a chipmunk in it, from my first Doberman Susie, who was distinctly not crazy, being perhaps the friendliest Doberman ever.

But I'm not selling eyeballs to advertisers.

Put those beasts down.

Nothing entertaining about it.

One day, soon, there will be another cat.

The dogs were doing their job. Good for them.

Nature's cuteness factor is noticed only by humans.

Pit Bull apologists: Clearly, it's not the breed!

Only Pit Bulls chase cats? We have adopted hundreds of Pit Bulls to homes with cats. They often sleep together.

Pit Bulls do have some characteristics that make them better car chewers than the average dog, and like the rest of us they hate minivans. I support this chewing. They were simply attempting to apprehend the kitty so they could find it a good home. Good Dogs.

Cats are useful distractions if you're training a dog. Also rabbits and deer.

If the dog lives with cats, you need a strange cat.

Only if the dog is really interested in something else can you make the point that no, you have to hold your sit-stay no matter what.

Finding distractions is the hardest part of training.

I love minivans. But I'm not into pit bulls. Related?

I bet if it was just one dog, he'd sniff around but give up easily. But a pack of dogs becomes a rowdy, murderous gang.

It certainly wasn't "pure entertainment" for the cat.

Hey, that reminds me... Didn't Althouse give a thumbs up to the guy who killed the cat by swinging it by its tail and smashing its head into a brick wall?

The disappointing thing is how many videos there are of people behaving the same way, and even attacking a member of the same species. And, you will never hear dog use a racial epitaph. I doubt even one of those dogs used the P-word during this.

I know some people keep pit bulls as a macho thing, but, from everything I've heard, bag is right.

It's the way the dogs are treated.

During a fire scare, my parents packed their Jeep Cherokee in preparation for evacuation. Including a few cages of my mom's doves.

I was over there at the time, helping out, and walked outside around 8pm. The door to the jeep was open, and a coyote saw me walking by and jumped out from the jeep, having already eaten 2 of the birds.

The door was decidely shut before, but not locked, so the ocyote had actually opened the door latch, something we hear neighbors had experienced as well.

This story sounds kinda fishy to me.

My neighbors dog, and Doberman/something mix, took too close of interest in my cat Sam. One swipe by Sam across his nose, which drew blood, ended that shit permanently. Sam just walking outsid whould cause his dog to withdraw.

Animal on animal altercations are not based on who would win, but whether the victor can do so while escaping injury. Injury means ultimate possible death in nature so animals will avoid situations that present injury.

Cats have little to fear. They are very well equipped at defending themselves. Our lake association President is a vet, he told me that the only animal in the northwoods that cats need fear are male fishers. Foxes, coyotes, bears, hawks won't bother them.

Coyotes will certainly take cats. I wouldn't be surprised if they're specifically sought out in residential neighborhoods.

He discovered that his vehicle had been significantly damaged by his four pit bull dogs …

It could just as easily have been a mauled human body that was found by the owner. When will the owners of these dangerous animals learn that they need to keep them under restraint?

Sorun म्हणाले...

Outdoor cats are easy prey for coyotes.

People who see the minivan fender torn to shreds forget that it's plastic, which to a pitbull is like tissue paper. Shit, I have a boxer that has nearly as powerful a jaw as a pit bull. That dog goes through Nylabones like there were nothing. He's just a prolific chewer. But hey, his teeth are nice and clean. :D

Look, when your dogs are able to chew through your transportation, it's a sign that you need to get bigger doggie toys for them. :-S

That's how I got my cat Fanny - hiding in the engine of my vet's car (Fanny for fanbelt which burned her, but she recovered quickly).

A cat can defend itself, sure, but that was a pack and it's 7 weeks old.

On a Dog Whisperer episode, the only member of a household who could calm 2 fighting pit bulls was an orange tabby who would get between them and send them to their corner. As Cesar says, it's mental, not just about size.

Most dogs will chase a cat.

Few will demolish a car in the process.

Anyone can own a Pit Bull, yet I need an 8 hour course, fingerprinting and background check to own a .22 pistol?

tiger म्हणाले...

But but but! Pitbulls are SOOOOO LOVEABLE!

What nonsense.

They were bred to be dangerous and are.

Get back to me when 4 Golden Retrievers tear apart a mini-van.

I don't want large dogs done away with. I do want owners held accountable each and every time something happens.

When someone is bitten or a dog is barking all night or whatever, owners need to be made to demonstrate control over their animals, OR be willing to learn, at their own cost, in short order.

Or they lose the pet, post haste.
