According to my Facebook-poll engine plus the super-K-street consultants, Romney has no advantage.
It seems that the election is over. POTUS Obama will win the reelection like Reagan won against Mondale.
Trust me. Join us. Be the history of re-election of the greatest POTUS. If you do not believe, ask NYT, CNN, PBS, or NPR.
Romney's trip to UK, Israel, Poland was BUST. He is finished.
PS: Can anyone recommend the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) like the one at Yale? This does not require a legal background. I am interested in MSL so that I can join the K-street in the future. Can you suggest some good programs that do not require a JD or law degree towards such masters-degree?
Gore got ~95% in 2000, Kerry got ~93% in 2004, Obama got ~96% in 2008. I can see some socially conservative blacks being turned off enough by Obama's actual positions that his support would dip below what it was when all they had to buy was hope, change and skin color, but how in the hell is he getting out-polled by Kerry?
The most post-partisan and racially trancendent candidate has become the most racialist and politically devisive president.
Oppose him on policy grounds and you are an unthinking idiot. Or a Racist. Or probably both.
So stop harping on the country's social and ecomomic and foreign policy problems. Cause that clearly shows you're a racist hater or a Nazi or something.
So Choom has lost 4 points off blacks and 10 off Hispanics (those are those "other minority voters", right?). That's enough to cost him the election.

Would not make a difference. A black Republican is still a Republican as far as black voters are concerned. They are lock solid for the Democrats. True before Obama, and will be true after. If the Dems ever lose that advantage, they are out of luck. That is why they must portray their opponents as racist. That is why they will try to destroy and conservative black man or woman who challenges them. They would do so with Condi Rice.
Make no mistake, it's the Democratic party that uses race to get elected. They did so when Bull Connor was on the Democratic National Committee. They do so now. It is quite amazing that they were able to make the transition.
Maybe enough flashmobs and knockout games in the run-up to the election will get through the MSM screen to make whites racist enough to save their skins in November.
Okay, I have a BS in general engineering and a masters in international studies. Both from a small MI school. Thus, I am a top-notch consultant (but not in the big leagues - I work with them, though).
SO, do you have suggestions on MSL programs? The Yale has a good program for non-lawyers but there is no scholarship at all. Plus, they take MSL and JD courses together; very competitive. you have to be invited to join groups, etc. Any other programs?

One wonders what Althouse actually thinks of her confused pup!
On a related note, TX will be a toss-up state by 2024, maybe 2020. Be afraid, be very afraid cons!
Well, sure. It's the natural progression of things. As leftists screw up their own states beyond repair, they move to states that can still generate jobs. And then they vote for all the policies that ruined the last place they lived.
So at some point conservatives will have to leave Texas and adopt sensible policies somewhere else. Texas will then join California, with Democrat pressure groups fighting over the scraps of a once-vibrant state in economic and fiscal ruin.
Thinking, to an extreme extent, something less than second best, how does one approach a meritocracy other than with attitudes, in many cases greatly, differing from those attitudes of those so successful?
I'm not crazy about Romney but all along he looked like the strongest candidate of those Republicans running. This is a crucial election and I would have voted for anyone opposing Obama, but I was relieved that it turned out to be Romney. I believe that many Republicans made the same calculation, which is how Romney won.
Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, and Bachmann would have provided the ideal culture war opponent that would have played to Obama's strengths as a hard left community organizer and offset Obama's profound weakness as an incumbent president who has accomplished almost nothing popular, while the #1 issue -- the economy -- has gone sideways and worse while he has been in office.
Democrats can ridicule or vilify Romney all they want, but then they are stuck explaining how such a poor candidate is in a dead heat with the smartest president of all time who has the advantages of incumbency and the mainstream media in his hip pocket.
Is this surprising? In 2004 the split between Bush and Kerry was 17% (58/41). In 2000 Bush vs Gore it was 13% (55/42). Even though Kerry and Gore were noticeably not black.
The Democrats have been losing whites or abandoning them, depending on one's POV, for years now.
Obama's 2008 campaign was an outlier and he did manage to reduce the Democratic disadvantage with whites to 12%.
But in 2012 a 20% advantage for the Republican candidate looks like a return to the ongoing trend.
Hah. The Onion can't even parody Romney he is so bad. Easily the worst Republican candidate in my lifetime
Coming from a Kerry voter, and someone who would, if he were running, would vote for Dukakis, your comment is parody.
l they left at this point is appealing to some working white class knucklehead voters that might show up if properly motivated about race
That's right! Because when you're not calling voters dummies, you're here pretending to care about "jobs" and the "working class"
Why, it is almost as if you're an incoherent idiot or something.
Right wing populism sells, especially in a shit economy. And especially bankrolled by billionaires.
Yes! Because the Democrats aren't running around pretending venture capital is illegitimate, Romney is a "felon," screaming about "tax returns," running tens of millions of dollars of ads funded by billionaire Soros, and bragging about all these "middle class tax cuts" Obama implemented.
Hah. The Onion can't even parody Romney he is so bad. Easily the worst Republican candidate in my lifetime.
Garage, you seem sincere. Do you really think this is true?
I ask because I think Romney is certainly going to win, and I think the left is in denial over that and will have a bat-poop hissy fit when it happens.
Only 91% blacks for Obama sounds low, Clinton did better than that and I'm sure Obama did as well in 2008. Rove had an analysis where just 0.5% of the black turnout from 2008 was not repeated (a reasonable prediction) and it was enough to be consequential.
You know, to hear people argue that "the Romster" will be good/better/best or Obama will be bad/worse/worst--or vice versa--is laughable. If we want to be honest, we have to admit that the race is between Shitty and Shittier. Views differ, largely along party lines, as to who is "shitty" and who is "shittier," but really...who wants either?
Either way, we're going to have a turd in the White House, and we'll get from whichever shitty one wins all one can expect from that: more shit.
Robert Cook, I don't live there, but I've traveled fairly broadly in Texas. It's a very big place. Austin is nice, being a leftist island in a rightist state. San Antonio is a beautiful place. The coast is fantastic. There are mountains and forests and beaches and lots of other stuff.
I don't mean to come across like the Texas tourism bureau spokesman. I'm just trying to point out that you come across like a stereotyper.
Bob Ellison said...I think Romney is certainly going to win, and I think the left is in denial over that and will have a bat-poop hissy fit when it happens.
The latest poll in this morning's NY Times shows Obama leading in the key swing states of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
Can't wait to see what clown Romney trots out for the VP.
Only 91% blacks for Obama sounds low, Clinton did better than that and I'm sure Obama did as well in 2008.
I noticed the same thing. Politico says 96% of blacks voted Obama, and usually 90% vote democrat. It's a pretty significant shift. I would suppose the high unemployment rates, and energy costs, have some blacks thinking differently about Obama.
If the Democrats are leery of repeating the Al Franken car trunk method, maybe they can flash mob the voting centers in November, and steal all the ballots they need to win.
"Romney is worst than Bush? Had not heard that one yet."
-- Any Republican not running for office is infinitely moderate, and truly closer to an ideal statesman than the person running. I used to not believe this, then I watched in 2008 as people started saying things like: "I would have voted for the 2000 McCain, but not this guy," and the sudden Reagan nostalgia, even among the left (but only when compared to someone running!)
Give it a few years for the most virulent hatred of Bush to finally die down as people realize he is a C+/B- president, and then you'll start hearing the left want the right to return to compassionate conservatism "When they would work with moderates like Ted Kennedy on important issues like education!"
I do wonder how any respectable pollster/stats person can live with samples skewed nearly 10+ points in one direction. It makes it a pain to have to double check journalists' every piece of work, but c'est la vie.
My reaction would be that I hope he's not as big a disaster as the last Republican, I hope there are checks and balances on the GOP, and I hope he appoints good people to his cabinet.
I'm not really the person to ask your question of as I'm not a Democrat and I barely even think about politics when I'm not, on occasion, having a looksie at these political sites.
LoafingOaf said "I'm not really the person to ask your question of as I'm not a Democrat and I barely even think about politics when I'm not, on occasion, having a looksie at these political sites."

LOL. Cook and I would disagree on which is which, but otherwise, a totally correct and, may I say, sophisticated, analysis.
Oh, Bob Ellison, I certainly am a fool much of the time. Most particularly when I let my guard down in the emotional climate after 9/11 and believed a lot of the bullshit from my government when they told me how they'd fight the War on Terrorism. The bullshit is still flying with Obama as commander in chief. There won't be much to be happy about if Obama wins.
But there's not much to be happy about in general in American politics. It's best to tune it out most of the time and try and enjoy your life.
I did have something to be happy about in my local Cleveland politics yesterday, however! Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora was sentenced to 28 years in federal prison! It was a Bush appointed judge who handed down the stiff sentence. So, there ya go, a Republican did something good that sends a message to the crooks in my city.
On a related note, TX will be a toss-up state by 2024, maybe 2020. Be afraid, be very afraid cons! :-P
Not if a lot of the illegals are deported and voters are required to have picture IDs to vote. And, esp. not with Ted Cruz’s stunning 13 point victory in Texas. As long as the Republicans are able to recruit Hispanics of the quality of Rafael Edward Cruz, the Dems are in trouble with Hispanics. (Read the bio - impressive for anyone, and esp. for the son of a guy who worked his way through UT as a dishwasher).
But then, Austin aside, why would anyone with any sense be living in Texas?
Because they want a job?
Houston has something many other major cities don’t: jobs. With the local economy humming through the recession, Houston enjoyed 2.6% job growth last year and nearly 50,000 Americans flocked there in response — particularly young professionals. In fact, the median age of a Houston resident is a youthful 33
Can't wait to see what clown Romney trots out for the VP.
Hahahaha. The bar is set so low with Slow Joe the Republicans literally can't lose with a VP pick. They could pick any registered Republican at random and have someone who would hand Biden his ass in a debate.
Texas is the most American place you could be. It is a microcosm of the US. A Texas weather report is like a US weather report. You can have snow in the pan handle and a tropical storm in Brownsville. The people there are great. After the late unpleasantness in the 1860s, the most common notation on local merchant’s books for an unpaid account in the south was GTT—Gone To Texas. They say Virginia is the mother of Texas. Nobody knows who the father is. I suspect South Carolina. Read up on Manse Jolly.
My wife and I are planning on spending half of our retirement years in Texas and the other half in the North Carolina mountains.

The headline is wrong. It should read:
Despite horrific economy, especially for minorities, Obama leads Romney by 82 percent among black voters
But that wouldn't fit the blacklash narrative (that your Seven Machos foresaw in 2008).
One other thing, the worst candidate on a national ticket is currently running for re-election as Vice President.
His running mate is a very close second.
The Romster seems to be running a very good campaign. All us experts could run it better, of course, but he seems to be doing OK.

So at some point conservatives will have to leave Texas and adopt sensible policies somewhere else. Texas will then join California, with Democrat pressure groups fighting over the scraps of a once-vibrant state in economic and fiscal ruin.
I'd like to see Republicans use identity politics in subliminal ads. Like, all these guys are taking your jobs, and taking your welfare money.
Thinking, to an extreme extent, something less than second best, how does one approach a meritocracy other than with attitudes, in many cases greatly, differing from those attitudes of those so successful?
Wonders will cease, never.
AP can single-handedly keep NPR afloat with hot air. Yay a boon to the suffering tax payers. Thanks AP
Garage, I'm gonna be up your way in a couple of weeks. Love to buy you that drink.
Anytime. You better call this time.
chickelit was too chicken for some reason to set aside an hour of his time. I don't think I have snakes growing out of my head?
Garage Mahal: The Onion can't even parody Romney he is so bad. Easily the worst Republican candidate in my lifetime.,,
This might be true but so what, given that Obama is easily the worst Democratic president in my lifetime.
Gore Vidal is dead.
Romney has 20% advantage among white voters.
Gore Vidal croaked.
tits.

No sir!
Idiot.
For those who forgot, Ted Cruz is the Tea Party Republican.
If the Republicans are putting up Hispanics running as real Conservatives, TX going toss-up may be a little late.
Or never.
It's the Lefties, who assume Hispanics come out of the womb registered Democrat, who should be afraid, very afraid.
Guys like Cruz are the future.
"Garage, you seem sincere. Do you really think this is true? ...I think the left is in denial"
If you were around here during the whole Recall Scott Walker era, you'd know that Garage is the King -- nay, the bleedin' Emperor -- of Denial.
G.M. is a snarky and boorish troll. He endlessly parrots whatever the lefty received wisdom is on any given day. No thought, no analysis, ever.
"the Lefties, who assume Hispanics come out of the womb registered Democrat"
Apparently, Cruz is of Cuban-American background, which is an entirely different culture and outlook than the stereotypical Mexican-American one.
Only 91% blacks for Obama sounds low, Clinton did better than that and I'm sure Obama did as well in 2008. Rove had an analysis where just 0.5% of the black turnout from 2008 was not repeated (a reasonable prediction) and it was enough to be consequential.
"...anyone with sense living in Texas should be afraid.'
But then, Austin aside, why would anyone with any sense be living in Texas?

The latest poll in this morning's NY Times shows Obama leading in the key swing states of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
Can't wait to see what clown Romney trots out for the VP.
But then, Austin aside, why would anyone with any sense be living in Texas?
Good food, nice economic growth, beautiful women, conservative government. What's not to like unless you prefer the statism of the Northeast.
Dave:
Only 91% blacks for Obama sounds low, Clinton did better than that and I'm sure Obama did as well in 2008.
I noticed the same thing. Politico says 96% of blacks voted Obama, and usually 90% vote democrat. It's a pretty significant shift. I would suppose the high unemployment rates, and energy costs, have some blacks thinking differently about Obama.
LoafingOaf, humor me for a minute. Suppose that the NYT poll you cited is a false leading indicator. Suppose that Romney wins, roughly 52/48.
What will be your reaction?
"What's not to like"
Heat.
Too. Effin. Hot.
Glad somebody likes it, though.
"What will be your reaction?"
Slinking away in silence would be my guess.
If the Democrats are leery of repeating the Al Franken car trunk method, maybe they can flash mob the voting centers in November, and steal all the ballots they need to win.
"When one looks at the condition of Mexico anyone with sense living in Texas should be afraid."
Texans might be afraid, but their Texian forefathers might have left behind some insight on that situation.
Paco Wové said..."What will be your reaction?" Slinking away in silence...
That would be nice. I predict, though, that it will be inadmission.

Hilarious.
Want to guess what the samples were in that poll, gullible idiot?
Florida’s 2008 exit poll when Obama won by 5 percentage points: Dem +4.
Quinnipiac/NYT Florida poll today — Dem +9
I do wonder how any respectable pollster/stats person can live with samples skewed nearly 10+ points in one direction. It makes it a pain to have to double check journalists' every piece of work, but c'est la vie.
My reaction would be that I hope he's not as big a disaster as the last Republican, I hope there are checks and balances on the GOP, and I hope he appoints good people to his cabinet.
I'm not really the person to ask your question of as I'm not a Democrat and I barely even think about politics when I'm not, on occasion, having a looksie at these political sites.
29 ionsGLGeez simple math sqays that Obama has an 82 point advantage among black voters.
Simple wisodm suggests that he's also got a 75 point advantage in the moron vote.
LoafingOaf said "I'm not really the person to ask your question of as I'm not a Democrat and I barely even think about politics when I'm not, on occasion, having a looksie at these political sites."
So whom should I ask? I'm a Republican. What are you? I'm trying to figure out what will happen.

LOL. Cook and I would disagree on which is which, but otherwise, a totally correct and, may I say, sophisticated, analysis.
*Should be "whom should I query".
You don't sound like a political junkie, LoafingOaf, so I believe you when you say you only sample political stuff.
Your writing makes you seem not a junkie, but a fool.

Don't worry, your ignorance is a virtue for you.
