Is this a trick question?

Patrick म्हणाले...

Really? Perhaps a more interesting question is: Who is Madison Man voting for? Seems like he's not entirely on board with the recall, but isn't much of a Republican.

That of course would be a poll of one.

damikesc म्हणाले...

Meade for Barrett. Just to swerve people. He will then come out and admit he is a pro-union goon and that he really wanted Falk as Governor. He will then endorse Obama.

The page hits will explode with the...Althouse drama!

Christopher in MA म्हणाले...

Cruel neutrality would suggest staying home and reading a good book. But as I said on another thread, if the antics of the union goons in Wisconsin and the antics of the Democrats nationally have not convinced our good lady host to vote for Walker and Romney (or, at least, not for Barrett and Obama), then she's a lost cause.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

A vote for Barrett is indirect support for unfettered union operations and fleebagging politicians.

Meade म्हणाले...

"Perhaps a more interesting question is: Who is Madison Man voting for? "

I agree. And I predict MadisonMan will vote for Walker. In fact, I'd be surprised if he hasn't already done it.

Brief report from the West Coast of Wisconsin:

Long line (50) at my precinct at 7:15 am. For the 2010 election, there were about 10. I'm in a left leaning area and believe that the there is still plenty of motivation on both sides of the vote. Hope that the conservative Milwaukee suburbs are bringing the vote today.

My predication is that Madison will have only 3 votes for Walker today: MeadHouse & Blaska.

damikesc म्हणाले...

Evidence Meade would vote for Barrett:

1) Meade's last name has an M and an A in it. You know who else's had those letters? Karl Marx. Also John Madden, who looks like an old hippie now. Also, Bernie Mac, who is sadly deceased --- JUST LIKE the Barrett's odds of winning this election.

2) As an outdoorsman, he likely had to relieve himself outside. You know who else does that? Occupy Wall Street. No way somebody like that votes Walker. Also bears do that. Bears are noted Progressives.

3) Married a feminist. Feminists don't tend to vote Republican. Therefore...Barrett.

Using proven Progressive evidence, Meade is so clearly in the bag for Barrett it is amazing so few have noticed it.

No, "cruel" neutrality would suggest staying home, reading a book, burning said book, then blogging about the fact that the author is only two evolutionary steps above pond scum.

ALH म्हणाले...

Saw that CBS was pointing out that there are plenty of people who may vote for Walker only because they fundamentally disagree with recall of him over policy differences....but will still be reliable Obama voters in November.

Yeah. Today's outcome has absolutely NO effect on the national scene. None. Keep saying that until you believe it.

Based on what? Union member, thinks the choo choo is the key to economic growth, he'll vote Barrett. This "I'm not sure" is just a way for him to be above it all. It's bullshit.

Is Meade going to room Madison tonight? Report on the scene?

Just as long as he only votes once.

Make that "roam" Madison (wait, is that still spelled wrong?)

Yes.

RonF म्हणाले...

I want you all to vote for Barrett and drive Walker out of Wisconsin. South. Into Illinois. Where I will start up a "Walker for Governor" campaign immediately.

Jeff in Oklahoma म्हणाले...

Don't know who anyone is voting for. Both Intrade and most credible polls have Walker up, by significant margins. I pray he wins outside the recount threshold.

Please make it so, cheeseheads.

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

MM will vote for Walker, as a protest against the recall, not as an endorsement of Walker policies.

Roger J. म्हणाले...

Good morning professor--just a note of thanks for your sterling coverage of Wisconsin politics--I still take the position that this is a Wisconsin decision to be made by Wisconsin residents, but yours and Meade's coverage merits some kind of blogging pulitzer--Well done, professor and Meade

Curious George म्हणाले...

"EMD said...

He already said he was voting for Mitchell for LG, so much for "protesting the recalls". This is all you need to know about MM:

"My motives are that, as a youngest child, I am the instigator who watches and watches and then at the most opportune time says or does something to stir up a hornet's nest of a reaction amongst my older siblings while I remain seated nearby, seeminly angelic. You can't fight your nature."

No, he might say he did, but it's bullshit. He will or has voted for Barrett.

Hush! Votes are like privates unless you're into showing them off!

Jeff in Oklahoma म्हणाले...

FYI, according to HOTAIR: "If the two candidates finish within a half-percentage point of each other, the state will conduct the recount itself on request from the losing candidate. A recount in a race that had a wider margin of victory would have to get funded by the candidate entirely."

Original Mike म्हणाले...

MM will vote for Barrett. He'll think it's in his best interest. But it's not.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

The Recalls were fun. The Unions and the Dems went all in and lost it all when Walker never feared them or compromised.

Courage was the missing ingredient all along, as Walker pointed out.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Hear, hear!

DADvocate म्हणाले...

You left out the "We need to know so we can send a letter to all your neighbors" option.

MM voted for Hari Trivedi -- the third-party candidate.

Thinking Badger म्हणाले...

What time will the election be called for Walker? I will go with 10:30 pm

sane_voter म्हणाले...

I heard Mahlon Mitchell interviewed on Greta, and he sounded like a dope. I can't believe he will win over Kleefisch.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

MM is for the choo choo?

Was. Was. I was for the economic activity it would have generated.

Saturday I was biking down that new spur that connects the end of the SW Bike Path with PD -- I was the only biker on it -- and I couldn't help but think: Wouldn't a more efficient use of this space be to move freight, since no one is biking on it? And because it eventually goes right past a lumber yard, and a gravel pit, and Home Depot.... Bikers are the most coddled of people in Dane County.

Curious George म्हणाले...

"MadisonMan said...

Accepting the fallacy of "economic activity", you're against said economic activity now?

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Digging a hole and filling it back in again is economic activity, too.

I think his plan is to create jobs in Wisconsin by boycotting companies that refuse to hire more employees.

It shouldn't be, if only your family is going to eat the dirt.

I love this take on the foolishness of unproductive projects for the sake of "activity".

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Hari Trivedi -- the third-party candidate.

I had not heard of him before I saw the ballot. But according to his website, he is a Packer Fan, a Brewers Fan AND a Bucks Fan, so I guess that's good enough reason to vote for him.

I wonder how those fan tendencies distinguish him from either Walker or Barrett.

The rule of Lemnity म्हणाले...

I'm going out on a limb and say that both MeadeHouse voted for Tom Barret..

Not!

You seriously think any of these three things warrant a rail freight line? I mean the bike path is a waste, but fright? Wow.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

heard Mahlon Mitchell interviewed on Greta, and he sounded like a dope.

Please explain how the requirements for being Lt. Governor require anything beyond a pulse and occasional firing synapses in the brain.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Dirty tricks, robo calls going out telling people if they signed a recall petition, they need not vote. Stay classy.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

OMike, I finally clicked on that link. Thanks for the chuckle.

ricpic म्हणाले...

Steeped in the culture of academia for decades, Althouse had a I can't, I just can't vote Republican moment in the polling booth and voted Barrett. Anyways that's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.

Scott M म्हणाले...

Have you heard a recording of one or did you get one yourself?

LincolnTf म्हणाले...

I know most of the drug-addled students have headed home for summer, but what are the odds of another outburst of violence and vandalism if the Dems lose again? Even the most hardcore of the Union thugs must be sick of Madison by now, but if the leadership gives the order, I expect we'll get more occupations, defaced monuments, etc. Hopefully the State Police have likely protest flashpoints under a watchful eye.

Chef Mojo म्हणाले...

Allie, spare us the faux outrage. The unions are bussing in illegal voters from Detroit and Chicago, and you're bleating about dirty trick robocalls?

Yeah. Stay classy, indeed.

tim maguire म्हणाले...

Since this is not a normal election, but a recall, voters should vote based not on whether they approve of Walker, but on whether Walker has so betrayed the public trust that he deserves to have his tenure cut short.

Since the opposition has put forth no evidence that he has so betrayed the public trust, voters have a democratic obligation to vote to keep him in office regardless of whether they actually approve of him or the job he's done.

Under the circumstances, a vote against Walker is a vote against our constitutional republic.

Though I am not longer surprised at the irony that the Democratic Party has taken the anti-democracy position.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

MM: You betcha!

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Until you produce evidence Allie, I don't believe you.

edutcher म्हणाले...

If nothing else pushed Ann over to Walker, it's the morons with the horn last summer who jumped her.

Meade will stand by his woman, of course.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Chief Mojo, are you that naive? Bus loads of people coming in to a polling place and registering to vote? That wouldn't cause suspicion?

edutcher म्हणाले...

The Demos do it all the time.

(like Oop doesn't know)

damikesc म्हणाले...

And if there was "suspicion", what could be done since asking for photo ID isn't allowed?

Chef Mojo म्हणाले...

That's "Chef", Allie. Like in "cook." Which is what I am.

And, no, a busload of illegal voters pulling in from Detroit in a heavily Democrat voting precinct would probably not arouse suspicion. Rather, it would most likely bring forth raucous applause on the part of the local Dems, who would embrace the out-of-towners like long lost brothers and sisters.

That's just how the Dems roll, Allie.

But you already know that.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

"are you that naive?"

Look who's talking.

Curious George म्हणाले...
