from a NYC perspective this election will be about "cool" and sophistication.
Barack is tall, slender, basketball cool. He can carry a tune, he knows policy and style. His wife dresses with such panache. They look good together! And did I mention, "he's black!"
Willard is nouveau rich. (His father made his money in the auto industry but with AMC ! Can you say "Rambler"). His only policy is the policy of making money. His wife is attractive but her biggest skill appears to be childbearing. And don't get me started on that whole Mormon thing.
And the beginning part of that video pretty much explains the Obama financial policy.
Add this one that is about a missing copy of Tropic of Cancer (one of my favorite scenes from the series), and Seinfeld ties together a whole week of Althousia.
I think Phil 3:14 hit on something -- what is needed by Mitt is an infusion of The New York state of mind.
Republicans generally seem not to like people who are different from them, which is not good for a politician, but nothing says "people lover" like NYC. If you love people you like NYC. Maybe Mitt needs to hang out in the city with some ordinary people for a while?
Rich Republicans of course do love NYC, but probably Mitt as a Mormon didn't fit in with the rich New York crowd.
Quote for Mitt: Jerry Seinfeld: “If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right."
The linked piece is crap. It's not funny. Mitt Romney is indeed an easy target, and if they can't do better than this with the entire wealth of "Seinfeld" to draw from, they're incredibly lame -- even if they do live in New York. I'd like 90 seconds of my life back, please.

That Costanza line even surprised Mitt when it got him a laugh.
With a little more practice, Mitt could seem like a real person, which would be welcome news to his supporters.

Re: GOP falling out of love with Mitt:
Mitt: You can't break up with me! I've got HAND!
Voters: And you're gonna need it!
Professor, given your posts this am, here's a little gift to keep you in that mood.
I'm surprised you found that article sponge-worthy.
"I'm surprised you found that article sponge-worthy."
I must look desperate.
Stockpiling for the general election?
Actually, it's New York that looks desperate.
"Only I could fail at failing."

And my favorite:
"I don't think I've ever been to an appointment in my life where I wanted the other guy to show up."

Hate to tell ya, but most of that could apply to GodZero these days.

Mebbe, but Zero ain't as cool no more, not after we found out he throws like a girl.
I'm surprised you didn't link to the source video of Mitt's quote.
Ties together a few different posts.

"Its shrinkage!!!"
"Can't stand ya!!!"
Of course it's too easy, that's partly why it's funny. It could have been Santorum, or Obama just as easily and just as funny.
With Mitt's abstinence training and Mormon codpiece, he definitely would've won The Contest. Wait, maybe that's how he made so much money...
