cardiology paradise.

My salivary glands just went, "Ding, ding, ding" when I saw those plates of delicious, All-American, flyover country food.

The photo reminds me of one of the best meals I ever had (in Havre, Montana).

Good looking ribs. Scientists are only now discovering the multiple antioxidants in BBQ. I would caution, however, that a more balanced diet of pulled pork and brisket is necessary to get the full effects of this regimen.

Merle sez:

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all.

I hope you toured a little in Tulsa.

Hopefully, you'll be stopping for the night.

TX to WI in one jump and you won't have any feeling in your fluffy little tush for a couple of days.

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee,

We don't take our trips on LSD,

We don't make a party out of lovin'...

Uh, Merle, that last part is OK, whoever you are, but I appreciate you mean lovin' in front of ev'rybody else, with ev'rybody else.

I'm betting Althouse didn't eat the beans. And Meade finished his. Maybe hers too. Toot toot.

I miss good barbecue so much. There is none in Chicago or anywhere around for miles.

Where's the coleslaw? You can't have barbecue without coleslaw! By the way, if you get anywhere close to Owensboro, Kentucky, go to Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn. It's wonderful.

Talk about mixing Carb loading with Meat! Still, not a bad way to go, just not right now!

The BBQ around the country is spiced differently per region, and they all claim to be the best. I myself like BBQ in all its forms, the best being BBQ alligator tail, wrapped in bacon. OMG! You cannot imagine how good that is.

Moon-light is good but not the best I ever had, even in Owensboro. My wife though, sez they have the best corn she ever had at a restaurant. It's good eats for a good price.

Texas BBQ is as over hyped as the longhorn.-lol

in Havre, Montana

I've always thought it a shame that Brett Favre wasn't from Havre.

My theory is that God gave us cardiologists so we could eat BBQ on a regular basis. And drink beer while doing it.

Doug and Cheryl म्हणाले...

ok, my one and possible only comment here ever is this. Oklahoma BBQ is possibly the best bbq anywhere. I truly miss the Q there.

Gene म्हणाले...

I enjoy seeing photos of Althouse meals, especially before they are half eaten.

A long way to go and a short time to get there. You could be a long haul trucker after you retire.

Haven't seen a post from Ms. Hunt lately. If I recall, she's expecting a baby around this time. Hope she and baby are well.

knox म्हणाले...

Patrick, Freeman had a healthy boy on the 15th.

I never understood pairing baked beans with BBQ. The sauces are both sweet and tomato-based. Slaw is a much better foil.

There was a cartoon of a diner on an isolated prairie highway with a huge neon sign saying "EAT," and a large monster approaching.

"My God, do you think it can read?" one of the patrons was saying.

What you can get as a side in Oklahoma that it's hard to find other places: fried okra. Heaven.
Hands-down best ribs I ever had in Oklahoma were at Wildhorse Mountain -- AND they had the best fried okra, too. Good times.

Eating ribs in Muskogee: the definition of happiness.

Peter म्हणाले...

Back in the early '70s it was a point of status among the folks who went to Armadillo World Headquarters ans shops like Oatwilly's ("Onward, through the fog!") around UT Austin to make a run up to Muskogee just to smoke a joint. I know of no orgies during that time there but it's not beyond the realm of the possible.
