It was a beautiful day in the free city of Madison.

But some earnest folk were determined to do something worthy of the name of their movement: Occupy Madison:

Really, that's a little grim and sad for a lovely day like this. Outside, we see lots of children. I've never seen so many children downtown. We stop inside the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art to check out the Chicago Imagists. I love that kind of art, but then we heard multiple sirens, so we ducked out into the stairway to see what was going on.

No, the protests hadn't gone haywire. It was a parade of fire engines. And that explained why all the kids were downtown.

Middleton Cardinals... hey, that reminds us: It's a baseball day. There's something else getting the jump on protesting. The Milwaukee Brewers are playing the St. Louis Cardinals today in the first game of the National League Championship Series. We head back toward the car...

... and we see a small cadre of the protesters, hardly noticeable amid the much larger crowd of happy people enjoying the warm October afternoon.

(And then we went home and watched the Brewers beat the Cardinals, 9-6.)

If they're the 99% why do they need to make a big deal about advertising themselves? It's not like they're any better or different than the rest of us (expect for those nefarious onepercenters).

Good for you!!

You enjoyed some time outside on a beautiful Fall day, rather than spend it with the .0099%.

(I take it they were really boring)

अनामित म्हणाले...

99% creepy. They all look like they could use a good shampoo. Maybe some conditioner too.

Is stealing shopping carts part of the manifesto?

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

Do they give you free stuff in Madison? Is parking free on Sundays?

Sal म्हणाले...

I'd bet ten bucks that whoever pushes that shopping cart around the capitol doesn't bother to vote in elections.

Sal म्हणाले...

My guess is the 99% thing is bargaining slop. They'd probably settle for 60% if you pushed hard enough.

अनामित म्हणाले...

I wish I'd thought of making those red 99% t-shirts. I could make some money.

Go Brewers!

I went on a nice bike ride today, and think the views from the Cap City trail would have been gorgeous.

How come the fries at Sardine are so darn good?

"Do they give you free stuff in Madison? Is parking free on Sundays?"

Yeah. We snagged some free street parking. The meters are off, but you have to pay in the parking structures.

I went biking, too. Nice ride although it was drearyish and overcast. From what I could see, the only people occupying my city were the football fans tailgating with abandon near the stadium. I'm guessing they're a more accurate representation of the 99%.

Kirby Olson म्हणाले...

They want to be on television, and part of the historical documentaries that they watch on PBS.

JAL म्हणाले...

You know, I didn't think I could be more bored by "protests" and "demonstrations" but I really am.

I'm with PaddyO -- What the heck is this 99% crap?

They are obviously math disabled.

I want to know if the Madison occupiers are going to adopt the new Roberts Rules of Order in operation in Atlanta. Ann, you really need to find out about this.

I mean I thought leftie gatherings were interminable already. I have not see anything as loopy as this finger-waving Atlanta crowd since Jonestown. Of course, if I had to sit through it, I'd be drinking the cool-aid myself. And it's sad, I used to envision Atlanta the way Alison Krauss belts her song out about it. Now, that's been replaced with this vision. Oh, Atlanta, indeed!

Yeah how about the NL playoffs- it's like Budweiser Beer vs. Miller Beer. I am rooting for Bud.

Tim म्हणाले...

Fucking hippies.

Can't we ever be rid of them?

अनामित म्हणाले...

99% of the 99% decided to stay home, watch the football games, eat brats and drink beer.

The remainder basically wasted their weekend.

I'd say that plaid couch died in vain.

Hey! Angry Black Dude is back! Glad to see him. I am still waiting for Train Conductor Guy to show up again.

We did a nearly free( cost of pass only) moonlight bike ride on the Badger trail-- it doesn't get any better.

DADvocate म्हणाले...

I never realized that 99% was such a small percentage of the population.

MarkD म्हणाले...

The other 99 percent are at work, mowing the lawn, or watching football. That would be the 99 percebt that actually exist outside this charade.

Nice try kids, there is no draft, get a job.
