"At the end of the day, you have to be bigger than politics."

It's Hillary Clinton, out there doing politics again.
“I'm really old-fashioned. I feel I have made my contribution," Clinton said. "I’m very grateful I’ve had a chance to serve, but I think it’s time for others to step up." Writing, teaching, and working on issues that affect women and girls will be in her future, Clinton assured NBC's Savannah Guthrie; that and relaxing at home.
Mmm. Yeah. So... that means she's running, right?
She praised Obama for doing “an excellent job under the most difficult circumstances.”
Yes. I see.
Clinton attributed her current popularity simply to her two decades in the public eye. “Because I have been on the public consciousness for so long and on the television screens and people's homes, I think there is a comfort,” Clinton said.
Oh, there's comfort all right. Like I'm comfortable saying she's doing what she can right now to get to the presidency. It's a long, winding road. And right now, she's looking forward to helping women and girls...  relaxing at home... shall we say: baking cookies?

She needs to be baking some pizzas if she plans to catch up now.

Cain has been her nemesis since HillaryCare in 1993.

She won't want to, but gosh, she'll just have to accept her president's insistence that she accept the veep slot on the ticket when the current veep, of his own accord, steps down to spend more time with his family. It's a done deal.

Yes, we're very comfortable with you being exiled to Outer Mongolia somewhere.

Hey, Hillary, you were "politically" born on third base. You didn't hit a triple. What the hell have you ever accomplished on your own.

Hilary has spent her life baking political cookies for the guys and fetching coffee, I don't see that she was ever much of a self starter. Doesn't mean she has no competence, but expecting her to initiate things is expecting too much.

I like how she says 'I could have sat home and baked cookies..' The woman is not kowtowing in a man's world and neither does she want to do some harmless little 'gardening in the WH' or parading in a Target store disguised.

Insufficiently Sensitive म्हणाले...

It's the new version of baking cookies, and her carpetbagging 'listening tour'.

She has no executive experience aside from her State Department romp, and it's such an ossified bureaucracy it can run on its own leftwing procedures automatically.

She would be slightly less a disaster than Obama has been, but crookedness is no stranger to either Clinton.

I do expect to see an Obama/Clinton 12 campaign. Yes, I think that Biden will fall on his sword for the cause and withdraw.

Obama is in big trouble. He probably knows it, and his smarter people surely know it. But, I don't see him wanting to give up the big house, servants, aircraft, limos, etc. without a fight. That, to him I think, is what the job is all about. Oh, and everyone fawning all over him.

But how can he win with a bumble head white bread as his VP? Surely, if the Dems can just fire up their base with a woman, and in particular, this woman, on their ticket, then the cause will be saved.

Not that having a woman on the ticket is a cinch for winning the Presidential election - just note the results the two times it was tried in the past.

But this woman is different. She was able to rise to power by merit of being married to one of the most gifted politicians of a generation. And, she stuck by him when his cigar was found in inappropriate locations (along with a misplaced stain on a blue dress). She deserves to be VP, and then after that triumph, when Obama cannot run again in 2016, the Presidency, all on her own.

Never mind that her Senate seat was paid for with pardons to felons on the run and Puerto Rican terrorists, or that her reign at State has been, to say this charitably, rather weak, or, probably more accurately, an abject failure. She deserves the job of VP.

Oh, and did I mention that she does appear to have some culpability in the Fast and Furious scandal? Or, that a lot of the corrupt players there seem to have come out of her Husband's Administration (lead by the intrepid Eric Holder, who so famously procured those pardons, and then lied about knowing the underlying facts.

p.s. Found out last week that the DoJ IG was Holder's assistant when he was US Attorney for D.C. under Clinton, and they signed numerous briefs together. No wonder he wants his IG to handle the scandal.

Good Housekeeping magazine usually has a cookie contest between the two potential first ladies. Hillary's recipe beat Barbara Bush's.

Mary Beth म्हणाले...

Forget the election, the woman who wins the cookie contest becomes first lady.

Hillary won the cookie contest twice with chocolate chip cookies against Barbara Bush's chocolate chip and Elizabeth Dole's pecan rolls.

Laura Bush (chocolate chip cookies) beat Tipper (ginger snaps) and Teresa (pumpkin spice cookies). The pumpkin spice recipe was not original even though it was submitted as such.

Michelle Obama (shortbread) beat Cindy McCain who learned nothing from the fuss over THK's non-original recipe and submitted an oatmeal butterscotch recipe that was very close to the one Hershey has on its website.

I wonder what cookie recipe Gloria Cain likes.

She isn't that dumb. She knows that Obama isn't going to drop out and the primary challenge will be very ugly. And she will lose the challenge. Even if Obama did drop out,the democrats are going to wiped out. She doesn't want to 'tarnish' the Clinton mystique.

What do you think 2008 did to it?

jamboree म्हणाले...

Wow. I haven't seen that in a long time. God, I like her so much better in that clip. She was such a focus- grouped mess by the time Bill left office, not quite as bad as Al Gore and his manly earth tones, but close.

I saw it on TV the first time, probably excerpted on the nightly news, but I was too young to care much about politics. It made no impression at all. I didn't see what the big deal was, but I didn't think much about it.

I remember the day they (the Image Police) officially muzzled Michelle too. It was during the campaign and she sequestered herself in the hotel room and reportedly ran up the tab with Champagne and Caviar while her husband spoke downstairs. I think of that whenever she obviously overspends. Foreshadowing.

The Clinton's are 2 for 2 in presidential elections. Hillary doesn't want to ruin that. besides if she were to run and win, what is she going to win? Hillarycare by other name that is going crash and burn? An economy that left wing nostrums can't cure? She is her sixties, has bucks, a great retirement package, a great speaking tour future, she and Bill might finally have a marriage now that he is past his mid life crises and Chelsea might give her grandchildren. She isn't that foolish, she knows she can't win and even if she did, winning would be worse than losing. She already has had a hell of a ride.

Once Brian Williams gushed on the news that Hillary Clinton topped a poll as the most admired woman, oddly never mentioning the numbers. Looking it up online, she topped the list at 7 percent, the next woman had 4 percent and the margin of error was 2 %.

The one good thing Obama did was cut the legs off this modern day Agrippina Minor.

Synova म्हणाले...

Whenever a woman talks about focusing on women and girls as if it's empowering instead of marginalizing, I sort of cringe.

Not that it's not important, of course. Causes are generally limited in scope and being limited in scope doesn't make them unimportant.

But they are inescapably limited in scope and people who go into this sort of advocacy tend to act like it's not.

And then, of course, the professional women's advocates, finding themselves marginalized, use it as proof of... something. Feminists are serial offenders in this.

Same thing for race, I think.

Consider the difference between a writer I know who has made his fantasy-culture Hispanic derived in order to potentially expand his market beyond our own borders, and another writer I've met who writes about (near as I can tell) being a Latina in New Mexico. He's trying to draw a larger circle while she's dominating her niche. Yet, it is a niche. That may well be exactly what she wants and I've got no gripe with it just as long as she doesn't start to complain about all the people who are uninterested in her niche.

अनामित म्हणाले...

She looks to me as if HRC's been putting on some weight lately, which is, for a woman, a sure sign she's running for nothing except the exit. Time for her to enjoy the hundreds of $millions that she and Bubba have been amassing the last few years. If anyone in the family will be running for office, it will be Chelsea...and I don't think she has either the knack or the blood lust for it.

HRC got to be where she is because of her mind. She thought Bill would be a good meal ticket to power so she fxxxed him. Beyond that she has been a stellar part of the SCOAMF's government. I will admit I would prefer her to Obama because at least Bill did to her what Obama is doing to us.

i think hillary is wonderful. clintonist triangulation is the epitome of government sanity, the closest thing running government like a company in the interest of its shareholders (some of whom have different classes of stock, but to all of whom the directors have a fiduciary duty). she's already proven herself a moderate worthy of the job

Althouse is also wrong with regard to intensity. we saw it in 2008.
