Today is hang gliding day with temps near 100, so I'm hoping to fly well above the radar where the air is cool. The plan is to get so high that I will not be noticed by any of the ant-like surface dwellers.
There should be a column for dissonance. Politically, we've been living with it for awhile. But, then, I heard a joke that described it.
The comedian is Lavell Crawford. He was showing how his mom protected him. So, he does a skit where the cops show up at the door. And, after they knock they say Lavell Crawford has a stash of coke. "Oh, no, not my son." (Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.)
Then, the mom says "you have a warrant?" No. Is the reply. So she slams the door and says "Bless You."
Both sides of our political spectrum are taking care of corporations. While for the average citizen they lie. And, make believe they're not cooperating. But we don't get candidates we trust.
Each side's candidates are mistrusted. Each side's views are mistrusted. And, yet the same crap gets waved about.
Easier work for the democraps, because they don't have to deal with the chaos of 50 states suddenly writing laws to protect women.
It's like "school vouchers."
Because I'm listening to Cheney's book. He shows how LBJ put in the Office of Econdomic Development. That Nixon ran on saying he wuold kill.
Nixon, instead, sends in Rumsfeld. (Who hires Cheney as his assistant.) And, that's where "school vouchers" are born.
Up ahead, if obama still wins his re-election, whom will you thank?
J.D. Salinger truly mastered the art of achieving fame by seeking obscurity. The fact that he didn't go all Mailer or Capote increased the spiritual authenticity of his books. It's hard to pretend to be a disinterested seeker of truth and beauty while doing interviews on the Carson show. Ryan and Chrystie are doing something like this. When they wilifully step out of the Presidential spotlight, they fall, not into darkness, but into a more flattering light.
As a professional sneak, when my kids were young, when asked by people what their dad did for a living they would say.."He spies on people." Kids say the darndest things.

Fall in and come to attention! Solomon speaks.
Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.
So live life joyfully with the wife you love all the days of the life of your vanity.

I get plenty of attention. I crave peace and quiet more than attention most days.
Trey
We all want attention - crave it, in fact.
Remember the "Star Trek" (which debuted 45 years ago last night) episode where the bad guy was ignored to death?

Does the theme have something to do with the World Champion Green Bay Packers.
Speaking of attention... did the NYT really publish a non-smear article about Palin?
IGNORE ME!!!!!!
As usual, I'm WAY to busy to notice or pick up on themes. Hidden or otherwise. Clue me in with the scoop so I can be in on the joke too...

Your blog seems to follow a theme most of the time. I am not sure if it is conscious or not, but it is there.

Feel free to start a blog called Monitoring the Althouse Theme of the Day.
You can be a bit creative. That's what I do when I talk about Drudge juxtapositions.
Drudge seems to be making more misleading headlines lately.
