At the Sunset Café...

... you can express yourself until the last light dies.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Synova म्हणाले...

That sunset looks a lot like the Los Alamos fires looked from our back porch a couple weeks ago.

David म्हणाले...

Good one, Althouse.

So, anyone else following the Women's World Cup? Brilliant first goal by England today, and an exciting match between Germany and France. Tomorrow the US faces it's biggest test - Sweden - to determine who wins the group. The group runner-up will most likely face Brazil in the quarterfinals.

You know...I've been doing Google searches...and I don't think these "cafes" you claim to be patronizing are real.

I think you're just making them up.

The sun is racing towards the Pacific where Sunset Strip heads into its last light, and then over the Hawaian Islands and into the final lap until it gets the checkered flag at the international dateline, calling forth another day.

In the soccer-crazy countries of Europe and South America, no one much cares about the women's world cup. It's actually much more popular in the United States even though we don't care about soccer in general.

77 Sunset Strip!!!

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Storm on the horizon (unless you're looking east)

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

An Arizona storm (monsoon) approaching

(PS It puts the fires out.)

Real perty.

JD Salinger found sunsets irksome and pretentious.

But if the sun looks swell when it sets, who gives a damn if it seems a little phony? Nobody.

Supper was over and, moron that I am, I said, "Look, either we shlep overseas to see tulips or we hike out to pretentious Picnic Point and gaze upon another irksome sunset." She said, "What's the point?" It kills me when she says it like that. Girls. They can drive you crazy. They really can.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Don't argue like a lawyer over something for fun unless you are absolutely positive that the other person also enjoys arguing for fun. Otherwise, you're being a social idiot. Not everywhere is Althouse.

That's my takeaway tonight. And to you all, goodnight.

Conserve Liberty म्हणाले...

Quite an entertaining discussion on the Casey Anthony thread tonight. All I have to say is,

"Where there's smoke . . ."

there might be a pretty sunset.

Oh wait. And 12 peers are the guarantors of liberty.

wow, what a beautiful photograph..

Ann, I combed through your flicker stream for a pic I had seen last year and didn't remember any words about to make a successful search and finally found it. It was the Gibraltar in Lodi. I am getting ready to do a watercolor rendition of it.

BTW, if anybody is going to Yellowstone, don't miss the 'Grand Prismatic Spring' -- more awesome than 'Old Faithful'.

If you'd care to have an unfair first look at a four-page pop-up card before my friend in San Francisco gets to see it, the page describing the card can be viewed here.

And woo to the café sunset pic.

Meade...The key for me with super intelligent girls is to translate as best I can what she is really answering. Yes it can be done... slowly like code breaking.

Lovely sunset ...

The question that was bothering me earlier today was my feeling towards different kinds of lifetime medications.

I've got a BA in chemistry and tried to go to podiatry school. My mom's a nurse; my dad's an ultrasound tech. I'm not naive when it comes to the importance of medicine.

Yet I can tell you that, up until a few months ago, if I was told, "The physical problems you're having are caused by diabetes. Your pancreas isn't working right; you will need to take insulin for the rest of your life," I would've have reacted far better than if I had been told "The mental problems you've been having are depression. Your neurons aren't working right; you will need to take SSRIs for the rest of your life."

If any of you dumb sons a bitches dares find out what happens if you express yourself after sunset.....

You got what was coming to ya.

Clyde म्हणाले...

Is there any chance that we can hook Casey Anthony up with DSK as his new mistress and exile her to France? Both "guilty as sin, free as a bird," and I think that they kind of deserve each other. If one ended up the victim of very rough sex or the other ended up dead in the woods, who would mourn?

edutcher म्हणाले...

The Blonde is probably seeing something similar from her cabin in Ontario.

Nice view.

Meade was, I believe, making his entry into the "Write Like Salinger" contest.

I took second place.

pm317 - thanks. I'll pass that along. My husband's going out there, next month, to do some trail work for CDT, with some free time on either side.
