"Rightbloggers on the Death of Osama Bin Laden: Eh, No Big Whoop. Thanks, President Bush!"

Roy Edroso has his funny — and highly biased — summary of the rightbloggers' reactions.

४७ टिप्पण्या:

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

I hear virtually everyone saying congratulations to President Obama and President Bush. It is appropriate to do both.

Very few right wing bloggers are doing what you are saying they are doing.

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

Huffpo had reactions from pols.

I went through about a dozen. Every single R in Congress released a statement w/ no mention of BHO, but they did mention W.

Ha.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

I did joke that maybe Black Swan was an allegory for the relationship between Osama and Obama. I denounce myself for that.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

pbAndj--funny, everyone I have read or seen has mentioned both. They have given credit to the President Obama, President Bush, but most credit to the people who broke this intelligence and carried out the operation to eliminate Osama bin Laden.

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

I saying every R that I read at Huffpo. I'm not claiming I've reviewed all of their statements.

Still, it's kinda funny.

Alex म्हणाले...

Such is the poisonous culture liberals have created that right-wingers like myself can't congratulate the POTUS. Althouse can ask the big question - why has this happened. But she apparently has descended back into the warm clutches of leftism. Just like that.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

At least bin Laden lived to see the Royal Wedding, says an Armstrong and Getty texter.

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

Here is the thing I was reading yesterday.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

There are some ridiculous quotes from right bloggers in that article.

Imagine if the President, Bush or Obama, had said: Osama alive and in hiding was less trouble than Osama dead and a martyr.

Sometimes the correct thing to do is acknowledge when something good has happened.

Alex म्हणाले...

So Obama gets re-elected. America descends straight to hell. Thanks Ann. I guess you learned nothing from the last few months witnessing the union thugs. No, all that really matters is your endless love of Obama.

Alex म्हणाले...

MadisonMan - maybe politically they should have, but emotionally it's impossible when you know Obama is destroying this country.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Alex;
Give it a rest.

Consider your idol, GWB, has magnanimosly congratulated BO.

Try doing the same

shiloh म्हणाले...

It would have funny if bin Laden's breaking news happened right as Will and Kate were exchanging vows.

Bounty on bin Laden ~ 25 million

Cost of royal wedding ~ 32 million

but the (32) million stimulated :-P Britain's economy.

Maybe the sleepy right wing bloggers were listening to Fox News when they heard Geraldo filling air say, "Nothing really matters here except that Obama is dead".

kathleen म्हणाले...

If Obama gets credit for offing BL, is he also going to get the "credit" when Al Qaeda retaliates?

Alex म्हणाले...

Obama can go fuck himself. He is a weasel, and our troops are men.

Exactly. Obama can go straight to hell for all I care. Oh and Bush has no guts. He should have condemned Obama's hypocrisy.

Alex म्हणाले...

BTW, you have to know that Ann is hearing the right-bloggers and justifying to herself why she made the "right vote" and why 2012 she'll repeat it.

Never mind $6/gallon gas, $1.6 trillion deficits, unions bankrupting states, Libya fiasco. Nah, whatever is needed to justify the boy king.

shiloh म्हणाले...

Let the record show Sixty Grit and Alex don't like Obama.

Just trying to clarify ...

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

I just went through that whole HuffPo thing. I owe quite a few R Congress folks an apology. A bunch of them mentioned BHO. Even so, the BHO-free statements (e.g. from Boehner) do seem contrived as they dodge mentioning the POTUS.

Obama being the biggest hack of all. Remember the perpetual candidate.

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

I'm wrong about Boehner's statement.

Could I possibly flail any more?

No!

अनामित म्हणाले...

Was this a particularly hard decision for Obama?

"Sir, they've found OBL?"

"Are we sure?"

"We're sure. What do you want us to do?"

[Easy decision goes here.]

But it in interesting to note Obama's first instinct was to drop a large bomb on OBL's head.

I give him credit for taking the political risk to send men in.

Perhaps Obama learned that having proof of life entries and exists is politically valuable.

Alex म्हणाले...

Obama ready to devastate Texas economy over lizard

Yeah this is the great Obama.

Christopher म्हणाले...

Oh dear God.

Obama made a good call and Guantanamo interrogations allowed him to do it.

Can we move on now to figuring out just how much the Pakistanis were hiding from us.

Humperdink म्हणाले...

I can't tell you how many TV news people have screwed up the Osama/Obama names since this story broke. It's hilarious.

Great job by the US military in taking out Public Enemy #1. The finest military in the world. The bravery of these people continues to amaze me.

Kudos to President Obama on the decision not use a drone, but to take him out on the ground and remove the body.

Alex म्हणाले...

So we gave him a respectful Islamic burial. How nice. Me, I'd wrap him in pig fat and put him on display at the Smithsonian.

Luke Lea म्हणाले...

There's a grisly photo of Osama's face with left eye blown out midway down that link. Is it authentic? Looks real.

Dark Eden म्हणाले...

'We now interrupt this story about the death of Osama Bin Laden to remind you we really, really really hate Republicans.'

Is that basically what that link is all about?

Sloanasaurus म्हणाले...

I give Obama credit on this one, not for the mission, but for the decision to do it without support from Pakistan (we will find out more facts on this later).

It sounds like Obama took the chance to do this mission without support from Pakistan. I think its pretty ballsy to go into another country and carry out a mission like this when you know the mission will be highly publicized if it works.

Will this help Obama at the polls. No. Obama has already showed he can be a warrior with his step-up in Afghanistan, and his invasion of Libya.

Where Obama needs help is with gas prices, the crap economy, and deficit spending.... the same stuff Bush I and Carter needed help with.

Henry म्हणाले...

Well count me in the No Big Whoop camp.

We drove Bin Laden underground and crippled his networks. In my mind he was dead years ago.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

The team who got Osama.

Thank you.

And thank you for President Obama for being CIC and authorizing this. Good work.

edutcher म्हणाले...

As I said in an earlier thread, when was the last time we heard from Al Qaeda, was it 2 years ago or 4? And it was Zawahiri doing the talking, not bin Laden.

The War on Terror has moved on (no pun), we talk about the Taliban and Khadaffy now and the Lefties can't stand it.

But, to indulge the trolls, let's recap.

Republicans are proud, remind everyone of Dubya's contribution, say nothing nasty about Zero.

Lefties try to gloat, can't say anything good about Dubya even though this, like the surge in Iraq, vindicates him.

Do the math.

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

I will at least congratulate pb on being honest about re-reading the HuffPo thing.

Drew म्हणाले...

Said Henry:

Yeah, perhaps I'm an emotional cripple, but I can't quite find the enthusiasm I'm seeing on both right and left today. The only thing I have is genuine surprise that he was still alive. I figured him to be a dark smear on an Afghan mountainside many years ago.

Does his death matter? Did he matter? We chopped off one head of the hydra. How many more heads left?

DaveW म्हणाले...

I learned of OBL's demise this morning purely from bloggers of the right-wing variety and every one congratulated Obama.

I'm very impressed. That was a hard operation to pull off with 25 men in 2 helos. It took guts to order that mission, I imagine it had 'destined for disaster' written all over it. I'd never have thought Obama had the stones to do this.

The burial at sea part, meh. Crab food is fine for OBL. No need for a shrine to that loon.

I honestly thought OBL was dead and had been dead for some years. The biggest surprise of all to me was that he was still sucking oxygen.

Robert Cook म्हणाले...

"There's a grisly photo of Osama's face with left eye blown out midway down that link. Is it authentic? Looks real."

It's apparently--or allegedly--a photoshopped fake.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

for PB&J. I know you've already correctly your previous assertion but just to put a fine point on it, its nice to see the "evil duo" give Obama his due.

Cheney offered his appreciation to the Obama administration. “I also want to congratulate President Obama and the members of his national security team,” he said.

You know that had to go down like a bitter pill. Believe me when I tell you that ALL conservatives today are depressed as fuck. When OBL was killed, my first thought was - "so this ensure Obama's re-election". Not jubilation that the evil OBL was dead, just what it meant politically.

SPImmortal म्हणाले...

Who else is going to do it if they don't?

Bush's enhanced interrogations are vindicated and it's important to remind everyone o fthat after all of the moral outrage during his presidency.

Not really, I felt quite happy. My joy was somewhat muted though considering that I had written off OBL as dead years ago.

TWM म्हणाले...

I don't know about right wing bloggers, but right wing commenters here and on other blogs sure seem to be acting as if it is no big deal. I assume that's because it happened on Barry's watch, but it might be that they are just so used to being obsessed and depressed about the upcoming economic DOOM, they can't be happy about anything.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

What's with the assertion that Osama must have been killed days before the announcement?

It's in one of the tweets at the linked page. Is this a widespread notion?

The Crack Emcee म्हणाले...

That sums up my reaction pretty well.

Cargosquid म्हणाले...

Unlike President Clinton, President Obama ordered the shot when it came.
He did the right thing.

Too bad President Obama's policies are actually more harmful to the structure of the nation than OBL ever was.
