I'm glad I wasn't in Joplin, I'd be mocking that gallivanting, jive-ass clown from the roof-bottoms.

Does this mean that Obama has overcome his extreme revulsion for bitter clingers, who are thick on the ground in Joplin? Is the temporary suspension of punishing regulations and mandates on those who have suffered a catastrophe because an extremely bright, extremely well credentialed Ivy League twenty something White House policy wonk who shares your utter contempt for bitter clingers, whispers in your bat ear that under special, very special circumstances that's the politically savvy thing to do -- is that love?

And I'll show my love by chewing gum at your funeral service.

Rarely have I seen an individual who so uniformly looks like he had a corn cob implanted. He looks like he's afraid he'll catch something.

OK, maybe Kerry.

He loves them so much, he goofed around in Europe for a week, making a fool of himself (getting less hard by the day, interestingly enough), before he decided to get his scrawny ass out there.

So that's been verified? The clip I saw I couldn't tell.

Let's hear it for Cain and Abel! Come on, everybody, give 'em a hand!

Man, I'd love to put a foot in Obama's ass.

"You've demonstrated a simple truth," he told the service, "that amid heartbreak and tragedy no one is a stranger. Everybody is a brother. Everybody is a sister. We can all love one another."

How I wish that were true. I know sick people, my ex for one, who use tragedy and heartbreak to cause even greater pain or push their own agendas.

My ex's and her siblings have been fighting over their inheritance going on 4 years or so now. A couple of years ago, one of her brothers, on the other "side," was diagnosed with cancer. Upon hearing this, she immediately called several of her siblings and me telling us she hoped he died. She never apologized and didn't attend his funeral. She's one of ten children. Only one speaks to her now.

Some people can't be a brother or a sister even when they are.

How could you forget Romulus and Remus?

But, yeah, even more than Willie, Little Zero is becoming master of the lame cliche.

If we expect brotherly love from B. Hussein Obama, we are going to be surprised when we find out his real name is HAL 9000.

Hey Obama!

If you love me, resign.

Moose म्हणाले...

You know, Obama would make a great first lady. Dontcha think?

Methadras म्हणाले...

No, Mo is a purple state. He needs it. Only a week after fucking up a simple toast to a queen of course, while leftards wanted Bush to tie himself to a tree to show Katrina what he could do as president.

Cain really goes down as the first example of what happens when you don't pick a gift wisely, especially when God in a passive aggressive way tells Cain "you know cain i liked your brother's gift better than i liked yours!" Now he is forever known as the world's first bad shopper.

"Not for him the raw emotion Americans saw in his predecessors George W. Bush or Bill Clinton."

What does that mean?

And I can't tell if it's just that I don't like him but, "To those working at the scene, the president said: "We appreciate everything you guys are doing. God bless you."" makes me think... who are "we?" Are they doing this for Obama? Hell, no. Is he presuming to speak for people who were involved when he was not? It annoys me.

Do you know what Palin would have said? She (and Bush and possibly Clinton) would have said that they were what makes America great.

Synova म्हणाले...

"This is not just your tragedy,"

I am EXTREEMLY uncomfortable with the grief of others. I have no idea what to say that might help even a little bit. I admire those who know how to sympathize because while I can empathize I get tongue tied and conflicted and unable to connect to the grieving person.

But I'd never suggest that anyone else shared their tragedy, as if it was sort of the same, somehow, to go through it as to... not.

LilyBart म्हणाले...

You know, in middle America we've always looked out after each other - long before some self-important politician came and told us we should.

Penny म्हणाले...

"I am EXTREEMLY uncomfortable with the grief of others."

Most of us are, Synova, but we still do our best to comfort, which is what I think the President was doing. I found his words soothing, and it appears from this article, that those who were there, accepted them warmly.

If your house is blown away, and friends or family members lost, I doubt that partisan politics is on the top of your list of troubles.

Somehow and totally unintentionally I've gotten over most of that discomfort. I never have any magical words to say but I simply express my sorrow, listen and give a hug, pat on the back or warm hand shake. Compassion is cheap and priceless.

He's chewing something - gum, tongue, cheek, whatever. It's pretty easy to see.

That' what I figure. BO trapped amongst the yokels for hours on end. No where to light without being observed; time for the Nicorette.

I just watched it and it's pretty obviously-yes-he's chewing gum.

People still don't believe he gave HRC the finger.

Known for his cool, even-tempered demeanor,[????] Obama offered his own brand of comforting: eloquent words, plentiful handshakes, some hugs, pats on the heads of children, offers of "God bless you." Not for him the raw emotion Americans saw in his predecessors George W. Bush or Bill Clinton.

Who is Erica Werner and why does she write tripe?

Maybe she's perty and that's why she can get away with it?

"If All Men Were Brothers Would You Let One Marry Your Sister?"

Easily the best short story in the Dangerous Visions collection. Oh, well, at least he didn't robotically repeat "Brotherhood Of Man, Fatherhood Of God" like an automaton failing its turing test.

But seriously, Joplin could probably have done without the traveling carnival. Did Westboro decided to show up before or after Obama announced he would?
