Spring snow is more entertaining than rain.

(The second voice is a stranger on the street who talks to me when I go outside to photograph today's snow.)

A couple of inches is predicted for around here. Bummer.

Meade म्हणाले...

Seems like only yesterday I was lying prone on the sunny ground, inches from and eye to eye with a hawk. What a cruelly neutral month is April in Wisconsin.

David म्हणाले...

Tell it to stop. I'm coming to Madison next week and I want to wear shorts and protest.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Snow? Big deal. Spring snow is fighting a losing battle. Bring it on. I laugh at you, snow.

We need air conditioning today in San Antonio.

...but not nearly as entertaining as the tags on this post.

Titus म्हणाले...

No it is not.

No dogging walking.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Interesting collection of tags.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Oh, never mind. Prairie wind was first

prairie wind म्हणाले...

MadMan, were you trying to follow the unintelligible conversation as I was, waiting to see how Tina Turner, Clarence Thomas and Alito could all come up in a 36-sec vid?

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

Looks eerily similar to the snowfall we had both Sunday afternoon and yesterday afternoon here in Buffalo.

Winter sure is being obstinate.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Sounds like a wet, East Coast type of snow (just like the ones we used to know?).

Right now we have a cold, Irish rain here with the promise of 60s tomorrow and then back to the wet.

And, yes, the snow adds something visual.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

Edutcher, whereabouts are you in OH? (I think I remember you saying that was your '20')

DADvocate म्हणाले...

The rain here has been quite entertaining - flash flooding, rising Ohio River, etc. Boats are in high demand.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Don't Tread, I'm near Akron.

Are we still talking about semen? And speaking of which, I'm peeved Trooper had nothing to say on that thread. WTF!

Here in cattle country, a spring snow is treacherous. Cattle are calving, cold and wet not good for the calves, heavy snow make it difficult to feed the cattle, mud after the melt leads to weight loss in the stock... It is beautiful, though.

@edutcher

I see. Spent many a summer up Ashtabula way, right on the cliffs of the lake. Great memories. Many relatives from Strongsville, Warren-Youngstown area as well.

They is good people.

Don't admit it to just anyone, but I'm a long-suffering Tribe fan, too. But you know I am enjoying their 12-4 start. Don't worry, I know it can't last, most of the rostered players are making the league minimum 400K.

Double LOL...reminds me of a joke I used to tell my wife during the winter... went something like this; 'Honey, I have it on good authority that we'll see 6 inches tonight'... ;-)

vbspurs म्हणाले...

Ashtabula! Have you noticed how we don't hear about these places anymore? For furreners like me, we get a funny feeling inside whenever we hear place names like Chattanooga, Oshkosh (bigosh), Topeka, or Atchison. It's just so American.

Hey, Don't Tread, six inches beats the hell out of Allen's two. And with a little açaí tea, we can get it up to 7 and a quarter.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Tag mixup. Imagine if all those things suddenly appeared in our front yard.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

@Victoria

Yeah try these on for size, all very close to me here in the Buffalo area:

Tonawanda
Cheektowaga
Scajaquada creek
Tuscarora
Gowanda
Sloan
Crittenden
Polaski

Even better, in Amish country in Pennsylvania, there are some real doozies - Intercourse, PA for instance...

Unknown म्हणाले...

Don't Tread, Strongsville is between us and Cleveland.

vb, you should check out the names around Philadelphia: Wyalusing, Schuylkill (pronounced school kill) - a great many more Indian names, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr (both Welsh), Paoli (Italian), Bird In Hand, Paradise (Amish)

PS We have a fridge magnet, "VA may be for lovers, but PA has Intercourse".

PPS Pulaski is for the founder of the US Cavalry. Also, the town in TN is the birthplace of the KKK.

but I'm a long-suffering Tribe fan, too.

How long? Rocky Colavito, Leon Wagner, Vic Davilio, Max Alvis, José Joaquin Azcúe, Sonny Siebert, Sam McDowell, Luis Clemente Tiant.

My dad's family was from PA, so was also a Pirates fan, Manny Mota, Matty Alou, Gene Alley, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell.

The Indians went from 1959 to 1995 never winning their division and never even being in a pennant race. Futility personified!

Intercourse, Pa sounds like the underground, raunchier version of Little House on the Prairie.

Tonawanda

Easily could be a black girl's name.

Polaski

LOL.

Scajaquada creek

Wow! How does one pronounce that? Ska-zha-kwada? Lovely. Thanks, DT2012!

Seriously? I hope that's no where near where that Amish dude killed school kids recently.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Actually, vb, the locals say it, "Skookill", and we're a good couple of hours east of the Amish country, in Lancaster County.

A ton of Indian names, mostly neighborhoods named for the nearest stream:

Moyamensing
Passyunk (pronounced "Pashyunk")
Wissahickon
Tioga
Juniata
Wissinoming
Aronimink
Conestoga

PS Bryn Mawr, my birthplace gets a mention in the novel, "The Virginian" (I went to school with Owen Wister's grandson) and they even used the name (misspelled) in the TV show.

Yes. We had our chance in the late 90's (1990's) when the team had a great infusion of youthful talent that peaked. Now, we are just another small market team, not unlike Pittsburgh, that competes with the larger budget teams that choose to afford all-star players.

We still have Grady Sizemore, but not for long...

Not saying its impossible to win, just more difficult.

Jose Mesa couldn't get (3) outs in the bottom of the 9th, Game (7) of the 1997 World Series, which made Tribe fans a tad upset! Grrr

C'est la vie!

The Marlins were a wildcard team and had home field advantage in the WS ~ another Grrr!

Meade म्हणाले...

Peter, it's a pedestal-less birdbath.

Big Mike म्हणाले...

Interesting contrast between snow on the ground in Madison (even if it's only one or two flakes thick) with this picture posted by Glenn Reynolds of the campus at Tennessee. Short sleeved and sleeveless tops on the girls and -- OMG! Is that guy in shorts?!? Not an Althouse reader we presume.
