Is this really all there is for people to do in Madison on weekends?

Holmes म्हणाले...

I'm watching Restrepo right now. Then I'm looking at these self-indulgent fucks protesting the slight discomfort they're experiencing and I think they are a disgrace.

Palladian म्हणाले...

Wearisome.

Roger J. म्हणाले...

Lord--is there nothing to do in Madison? just got back from a great all Gerswhin concert in Memphis. There MUST be more to do in Madison than protest--you wisconsinites need to stop eating road kill--It isnt helping

अनामित म्हणाले...

Does it feel on location that the wind has gone totally, totally out of this thing? Because that's how it feels looking at the pictures from here.

Roger J. म्हणाले...

what 7M said--looks like a pathetic bunch of losers with nothing else to do

You think there's a single 'adult' in those pictures not getting at least one check every month from the government?

If the over/under is '1', I'm taking the under.

C'mon people, protesting is not a substitute for a job. It looks beautiful there from the Althouse photos, so why not go for a walk in the woods, or just nap all day. There is no law that says you have to make an ass of yourself everyday, is there? You're making the white race look bad, again. You can do better, just try.

RobH म्हणाले...

Chanting and moaning will never replace 76 trombones.

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

Interesting photos.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Looks like they're down to the dregs.

I liked the guy with the sign:

It's NOT about the MONEY

Yeah, right.

The Milwaukee Symphony held a Pops Concert tonight featuring the music of Cole Porter.

It's an easy ride and a lot more fun.

The left without goons is pretty pathetic.

AllenS म्हणाले...

Sorry, but I'm all protested out. If I never saw another protest picture, I'd be happy.

Re: Restrepo

That is the brigade that I served with in combat.

This country still produces men.

Lars,

We had an unofficial policy called ass in the grass.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

What is it these people are protesting again???

Oh yeah, their continuation of say-so over how much $$ they are able to extract from their fellow citizens.

A perfectly honorable position.

Steve Austin म्हणाले...

Why do they keep using those AFSCME signs that say "It is about freedom"?

I'd say that budget reform bill grants freedom. You can now work for the State and not have to be part of the union nor pay union dues.

Mwalimu Daudi म्हणाले...

Interesting. The hair and clothing styles of the protestors are from twenty years ago. Their slogans date from the 1960s - almost a half-century in the past. And their political views belong to the Russian Revolution - nearly a century ago.

"Progressives" seem to spend a lot of time living in the past.

Unknown म्हणाले...

These people really need hobbies.

PS OK, Ann. The one in the middle pic pushing the double-wide pram. The nice-looking 20-something blonde with the glasses and the fuschia splotch in her hair.

Admit it, you and Meade had a brief but meaningful encounter at a flower show somewhere in the 80s and your daughter is pushing your two grandchildren.

EnigmatiCore म्हणाले...

Where are the moderate liberals?

Not there, I mean. I mean here.

Other than MadisonMan, and Althouse herself, are there any?

It seems that in the comments section here, everything is argued from the far-right, right-center, and far-left.

TMink म्हणाले...

It is difficult o take great photos when there are so few people.

You did well considering the paucity of potential subject matter.

This ain't over, nuh,uh....

"Far left Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin asked nutty Obama Attorney General to investigate the Waukesha County vote reporting error this week."

Tambourines and Spackle bucket drums await.

Michael म्हणाले...

Frankly, I find it revealing that the protesters in oh-so-smart Madison have not considered candle light vigils, because they work practically every time.

Gary Kirk म्हणाले...

Where's the calliope?

Is that the same corrupt DOJ Public Integrity that condoned perjuried testimony and withheld evidence of Senator Stevens innocence?

"Is this really all there is for people to do in Madison on weekends?"

My experience in Madison at the Capitol on a saturday involves the overhyped farmers market -- which if you observe from a distance is this big slow moving band of people rotating in one direction around the capitol purusing some vendors. It's pretty boring after 10 minutes, so this protest thing is probably way more fun.

My question is when the FM season arrives and these people are still at it, if they will be willing to tolerate the protests, or see them as a boon for business. I can see it both ways.

Brian Brown म्हणाले...

Wow are there an outsized portion of losers in Madison.

अनामित म्हणाले...

So, what are they protesting now?

Has Madison been having a Tea Party protest on tax day these last few years? Will these people still be protesting?

That won't be good.

TMink म्हणाले...

Enigmaticore, what views expressed here are far right in your view?

Thanks for showing the rest of the world these images of the riots in Madison. Like ya'll have been reporting for past several weeks, these protesters are violent and out-of-control. The mob in this latest report are obviously just a bunch of hired thugs, especially that third picture.

Since InstantGrits says I'm a leftist, does that mean I have to give up my NRA card? Does that mean I'm not allowed to vote for Ron Paul anymore?

LOL

It is always amusing when some kid who can only see black&white is suddenly confronted with the color purple.

Despite your assumptions, I say grace and I say ma'am. If you ain't into that then I don't give a damn...

Roux म्हणाले...

All this energy and they still couldn't win an election.

Clyde म्हणाले...

Didn't seem like a whole lot of people there. Not much of a protest when tens of people show up.

foxtrot म्हणाले...

TJ Sawyer says:

"Is this really all there is for people to do in Madison on weekends?"

No. People can smoke pot, ride their bicycles, eat homemade granola, visit their local Apple Store, shop at ridiculously over-priced "organic" and "fair-trade" supermarkets...you know...all of the creature comforts of the uber-liberal city.

Lucius म्हणाले...

re: edbutcher --I'm all for chunky four-eyed blondes with fuchsia blots in their hair, but no way is the girl pushing the pram Ann & Meade's lovechild.

That's just not sexpossible. Not even if they had hooked up after a Barnum & Bailey/Prairie Home Companion simulshow.

Seven Machos says:

Speaking of wind, these protests have been a bad fart that has lingered for weeks. I think the prevailing winds (the sanity of everyone else in WI) have begun to dissipate it.

Michael K म्हणाले...

I understand that the AG has submitted a petition/ appeal to throw out Sumi's decision. Any info on that for us watchers from afar ?

I'm telling you....it IS the Doo Dah Parade come to Madison.

Except with less entertaining acts comprised of fat, pasty, white, stupid people.

Chip S. म्हणाले...

Meadehouse reports, Fellini explains:

The two types of clowns are in fact the white clown and the Auguste.

The white clown stands for elegance, grace, harmony, intelligence, lucidity, which are posited in a moral way as ideal, unique, indisputable divinities....

The Auguste is the child who dirties his pants, rebels against this perfection, gets drunk, rolls about on the floor and puts up an endless resistance.

That's an Auguste assembly cluttering the streets of Madison.

Michael:

I read the 30+ page petition last night but I can't find the link to it. It is addressed to the SCWI and asks for an order setting aside Sumi's orders. It is a very good piece of legal work. The WIAG has associated Michael Best & Friedrich, a 230 lawyer firm based in Milwaukee with a branch office in Madison. If I find the link I will post it here.

Is the person in the first pic with a purple shirt and camera a guy with a yooge stomach or a gal with badly sagging tatas?

I'm sure the kid on the bike's parents feel that they've done their job by making him wear a helmet. Of course with the helmet where it is, it won't do him a bit of good when he face plants. Is that a metaphor for progressive politics?

Alex म्हणाले...

Except with less entertaining acts comprised of fat, pasty, white, stupid people.

Yeah at least give me a protest with thin, tanned people. Where are they?

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Shouldn't the woman with the blue shirt be riding a bike? Just sayn'

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
