But was the conversation consensual? Surely we must make an exception for such cases...

Meade may be in for Hulsey's version of the Partially Interrupted Appointment. In that one the secretary comes in with schedule snips the moment the issue comes to a head.

Fen म्हणाले...

"This is what Democracy looks like!" mimed Hulsey as he fled from a constituent's questions and hid from the camera.

Peano म्हणाले...

So that's what democracy looks like. Or was it tapeus interruptus?

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Maybe Meade can go to the meeting with a wire coat hanger wrapped across his head like Steve Martin used to do with the arrow.

Or is that something only I would do?

I left an answer to your question back at the original thread--check it out..

Big Charlie, a muscle head with an I.Q. score barely higher than room temperature, got a job working one of the North Slope oil rigs in Alaska. On his first night there, some of the other guys pulled the usual initiation routine for newbies and told Big Charlie that he wouldn't be fully accepted as one of the bunch until he raped an Eskimo woman and killed a polar bear. They all laughed as he left the bunkhouse and went into the snowy night.

A few hours later Big Charlie returned all bloody with his clothing in shreds. "What the hell happened?" one of the men asked him.

"One down, one to go," Big Charlie replied. "Now where's that Eskimo woman I have to kill?"

Can't say I'm not in good company.

AST म्हणाले...

I don't think a conversation with Meade would be safe for Hulsey, at east politically.

There must be a "House of Pelosi" school for politicians, where they learn NOT to shake hands. And, to make wild accusations, which passes muster with what's reputed to be journalists.

Besides, that Hulsey has a gap between his two front teeth, without dental correction. How come no plate in-between? Hasn't he heard of Alfred E. Newman?

Risser is a real politician.

How did Hulsey, with his handicaps, pass muster?

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

I'm glad he agreed to talk to Meade.

What would Buckley say?

Why?

Why is what Buckley might have said more consequential that what you say?

What does this mean?

अनामित म्हणाले...

Why is what Buckley might have said more consequential that what you say?

1) Because the world sucks.

2) Because I want it to be so.

3) Next question, and fark off, icehole.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Haughtily, I continue to mention WFB: why?

Why would anyone read the moral, winning playbook, and expound?

Indeed, why just not?

Hulsey is clearly setting the stage to have Meade arrested and jailed for stalking.

Politicians don't have to put up with mere voters and it's pretty obvious you're going to have to learn that the hard way.

Aborted? Meade didn't even get to first base!

Sorry Meade, it's clear that Hulsey won't be going to the prom with you.

You will have to find another date.

Best of luck-- IMHO, you need to work on your approach.

UT says:

"Politicians don't have to put up with mere voters and it's pretty obvious you're going to have to learn that the hard way."

That is the mentality of Madison liberals and union goons towards the voice of the Wisconsin majority, which voted for Walker and, with it, his ideas for fiscal responsibility.

Me thinks some of those "mere" voters will make Democrats pay for all of their bullsh*t come 2012.

PaulV म्हणाले...

UT, WTF is the Obama Doctrine. Does it prove that Obama is dumb or what?

PWS म्हणाले...

I'm wondering about the point you seem to be trying to develop about the left being as bad as the right in terms of civility, violent language, etc.

I am an independent, I lean left but didn't drink the Obama kool-aid. These things you're highlighting by Hulsey and others are wrong. But they are wrong when done by the right too.

I don't think it is right when either side does it. Demanding civility should not be a form of censorship.

I think the violent language is bad and I don't like it and I think calls for civility are good. The problem is that many politicians (across the spectrum) do not have enough leadership imagination to figure how to be civil and still be influential, etc.

This Hulsey guy should just sit down and have a conversation with Meade; they would probably agree to disagree and that would be the end of it.

Social intercourse has consequences people. Use protection.

@Virgil: I will, thanks!

Fen म्हणाले...

I'm wondering about the point you seem to be trying to develop about the left being as bad as the right in terms of civility, violent language, etc.

If you were paying attention, you would realize how silly that remark is. There is no equivalence between Left and Right re violence.

The Left is far more violent and uncivil. "Both sides do it" won't fly here.

PWS म्हणाले...

Fen I can't tell if you're being sarcastic but since you post here probably not. I think you're wrong. Both sides are doing it.

Just a few examples: the murder of Dr. George Tiller in May 2009. Also people yelling "lynch him" when protesting Attorney General Holder's plans for trying the 9/11 bombers. ... Palin's cross-hairs.

I know there are examples on the left. I'm not saying it's only the right; but to say one is worse or better than the other is not supported by the evidence.

Unknown म्हणाले...

lemondog-- thanks for the awesome links.

PWS, your comment is really good. Thanks. Hulsey doesn't have to sit down and talke to Meade, but it would have been interesting if he had.

PWS म्हणाले...

Furthermore Fen, let's suppose you're right. What does that prove? That it's OK to do it b/c the other side is worse? That makes no sense and approaches two wrongs make a right.

The merits of the issue are separate from who is doing it worse.

BJM म्हणाले...

At least Hulsey's people haven't locked Meade in a closet, yet.

Meade म्हणाले...

BJM: That's wild. And especially amusing to me - before I was even 2 yrs - old, my three older siblings would lock me in a closet. They trained me to sing some stupid song (I can't remember the song now) and they would only let me out of the closet if I sang that damn song.

One could say I've been out of the closet ever since.
