"If I had known there was a reporter stuffed in the closet, I would have been compelled to stand up and demand answers."

"I would also like to know if this is actually legal to treat people like caged animals. I’m disgusted by these actions."

(The reporter agreed to the accommodations, didn't he?)

He's free to leave.

Take the deal or not, was his choice.

The reporter probably found it not much different from his usual spot--in the tank.

I know this is a new topic, but you invoked my question with your caged animal comment. NPR aired a story about abusive judges in “Drug Court.” This one girl was charged with a crime that could have a two year sentence attached. She was on anti-depressants and had to fill the prescription monthly. An angry judge screamed at her over and over and then ordered that she be detained in seclusion “indefinitely,” which I kind of thought was unconstitutional. According to other inmates the “indefinite detention” usually lasted about a month. After three months of this detention, she acquired a razor blade and attempted suicide. She said she did not care if the suicide worked. If it worked, the problem was solved and if it failed, she would be taken somewhere where her voice could be heard. Unbeknownst to her, her parents had tried to protest, but were told that the judge is very powerful and that would only make things harder for her daughter.

Meanwhile, my niece is a heroin addict. She was arrested for the manufacture of meth, a charge she is not guilty of, though I believe she is guilty of selling prescription drugs and I she confessed her heroin addiction to me. She was charged about six weeks ago and has yet to be arraigned. The reason is that she had trouble getting a public defender and the judge set a 25,000.00 bond without reduction.

My niece is very good hearted and very messed up. I truly believe she does not realize the harm her addiction brings. She needs treatment. She was unable to get a public defender. She tried twice. The first time she was rejected, for reasons I know nothing of. After that, she got an attorney to agree to take her case on the condition that she would pay the attorney with her tax refund after she was released on bond. The attorney could not get the bond reduced and withdrew for non-payment.

My niece tried a second time to get a public defender and was rejected because she had a real attorney on the case prior, so they said this proves her ability to pay.

In the meantime, I came up with the funds to hire an attorney and I did. At the same time, the case was turned over to a grand jury and a new judge was assigned. She now has an arraignment scheduled for two weeks from now with the new judge.

She is serving the sentence before she is found guilty of the charge. I did not think this was possible in America. I have probably been shielded from the real world, but are these kinds of things typical? She is not even allowed to plead innocent or guilty to the charges.

Sure he would.

I saw clip of a Congressman and E.J. Dionne both claiming they were willing to give fair considerations Bush's position during his terms, while conservatives criticizing Obama are unpatriotic.

Sure they were.

Laws are for the little people. Joe Biden is allowed to break any law he fucking likes and if you want to try to do something about it go ahead.

The Secret Service will be only too happy to dispatch you.

The reporter is a pussy; unlike the Sweater Guy in NYC, I doubt the reporter is man enough to eat it.

Reporters are such pussies. He should have given someone a knuckle sandwich.

What they didn't want the reporter to hear was that Nelson is going to have his a$$ handed to him next year.

Why do I want to ask where Reporters Without Borders (or whatever the Hell it's called) is? And what would they have said if this had happened on Dubya's watch?

It would seem Little Zero is less afraid of his press corps than he is of women and treats reporters the way those parts of the world to which he is perpetually apologizing treat women.

Given the slavish devotion heaped upon him by the media, one wonders if the aggrieved party will now seek advice from Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann, two women who won't let Little Zero treat them like the whores Little Zero feels safe in regarding the media as being.

Geraldine Ferraro, given her treatment by the media 3 years ago, must be laughing.

Yes, unfortunately they are.

Powers emailed from inside the closet: 'sounds like a nice party'

Seriously?

...how about emailing, "I'm in stuck in some teensy room - HELP!"??

I can't believe he agreed to be used like that. Any self-respecting reporter would have left when faced with such a demand.

I guess Biden's people have never heard of the phrase "off the record."

As the unaware $500-a-head invitees dined on caprese crostini with oven-dried mozzarella and basil, rosemary flatbread with grapes honey and gorgonzola cheese, grilled chicken Caesar and garden vegetable wraps,

These Dems got daylight robbed. That's a grand total of $18.50 at any Whole Foods deli counter.

Incidentally, Gerald Ford tripped twice on the tarmac getting out of Air Force One; this after having been a star football player, of unequaled athleticism. For this, Saturday Night Live poked merciless fun at him. But Joe Biden, who attracts klutz like Anna Nicole Smith attracted randy nonagenarians, gets a pass.

Sure, they make fun of him. But do they go for the jugular, nightly?

Seems Biden's minions have a habit of confining people and keeping them out of the party.

How does the line go? "How dare you do this to me? And how dare I allow you to?"

Apparently the reporter was ordered into the closet, but it wasn't locked -- in fact, he stuck his head out several times to ask "Can I come out now?"

Both sides were in the wrong. Biden's people shouldn't have stuck him in the closet, and he sure as hell shouldn't have stayed there. That was one bold, courageous "journalist." *spit*

The reporter is complaining about being treated like a lap dog after he volunteered to wear the collar and eat the Purina Dog Chow.

It's like Monica Lewinsky putting on her kneepads and then complaining about how it tastes.

Sorry cant get worked up about that. This administration is in power because of journalists behaving like cult-members in 2008 and now that they are treated like the useful idiots they are Im supposed to be outraged?

This guy humiliated, prostituted himself to get the story. Cry me a river.

Good catch, Radical Redneck. Fancy a Phillies fan like Biden wearing Yankee gear so nonchalantly. You wouldn't get Obama doing that outside of Cominskey Field...

Marcie: That ain't mine!

You gotta look up the original Orlando Sun blog about this (I think the incident didn't even make it into the dead tree edition of his own paper) and read the comments. After numerous people point out that this is only ok if a Democrat does it, the reporter tries to defend the way he was wacked on the nose with rolled up newspaper by Biden's crew for showing up to do his job.
